Chapter 414 - 322: The Curious Adventures of Old Barak and His Granddaughter (Part 2)
"Oh?"
"There’s a gathering place for otherworldly people in the distance. That should be where Xue set up shop. This makes it much simpler; we just need to go there and follow the trail to find Xue," said Old Barak.
Alola found it reasonable. Her understanding of this world was too limited, and for some reason, after seeing these towering skyscrapers, she suddenly felt a bit dizzy.
Given the circumstances, we’ll follow Grandpa’s plan. That’s what she thought.
Although she sensed something might be amiss, it didn’t seem like a big issue.
So, the group started asking for directions and made their way towards the distant comic convention venue.
...
Xue Dili, who was in class, sneezed.
"Is someone cursing me?" Xue Dili thought to himself, considering his physical condition shouldn’t lead to sneezing.
He was now a bona fide Tier Four Mythic Level, no longer the previous near-Tier Four, with a physique capable of enduring in a vacuum for several hours.
Looking at his phone, today seemed uneventful, and perhaps he’d visit the Ninth Apostle’s home planet after Little Tree Lady’s transformation.
In the Consciousness Space, the Seed of the World had gradually sprouted, now bearing a flower bud.
Xue Dili had a premonition that when this bud bloomed, it would be the time of Little Tree Lady’s birth.
So, despite the organic chemistry teacher on the podium continuously lecturing, Xue Dili mainly focused his mind on tending to Little Tree Lady. He even suddenly felt like a father waiting outside the delivery room for his child’s birth, a strange feeling of joy.
Although this metaphor was quite abstract, it was indeed Xue Dili’s mindset right now.
After reaching Mythic Level, he seemed to have gained a mysterious sense that something was looking for him, leaving Xue Dili puzzled about why he had this sixth sense.
Could it be the Mist Council searching for him? He thought of the inherently evil Apostles, resolving that once he developed powerful enough, he would personally eliminate them all!
So, he was determined to visit the Ninth Apostle’s home planet, at least based on his observations, even the Sixth Apostle likely didn’t know the planet’s coordinates. Otherwise, it would’ve been harvested first instead of causing a ruckus at the Parliament.
The Sixth Apostle’s outrage was partly due to not receiving the final payment from the Ninth Apostle, feeling short-changed.
If their relationship was truly close enough to know each other’s home planet, the Sixth Apostle wouldn’t mind harvesting the Ninth’s planet instead of placing much hope on the moral actions of the Mist Council’s Apostles.
From this perspective, there should not be Apostle Level combat power on that home planet, though surely it would be guarded by the Ninth Apostle’s personal guards.
And considering the Dragon King’s and Heart Stealer’s qualities, the Insect Race’s War Soldiers and the Mother Empress, there were likely Tier Five entities among the Apostle’s subordinates, but the gap between Tier Fives was larger than that between humans and dogs.
Therefore, Xue Dili needed to prepare thoroughly; in his plan, that world should be a dangerous zone where the planetary consciousness had been entirely killed off or replaced, ruled or administered by the Ninth Apostle’s subordinates.
This time, Xue Dili planned to scout alone first.
However, the Interstellar Corps had also obtained the Ninth Apostle’s upper half and might soon discover the coordinates of the Ninth Apostle’s home planet, so this time, he probably wouldn’t need to invite them.
As he pondered, the flower bud gradually blossomed. Just as Xue Dili expected, nestled inside was a pure, beautiful young lady with delicate wings folded on her back. The petals formed her dress and hair, resembling a truly aloof Flower Fairy.
When she opened her eyes and saw Xue Dili’s face very close, she exclaimed, "Dad, you’re so big!"
Xue Dili: "..."
The originally aloof Flower Fairy’s opening line completely broke the cool image.
Moreover, Little Tree Lady’s current size...
This Flower Fairy-like young lady flapped her delicate wings, sat on Xue Dili’s palm, and extended both hands to hug his thumb.
Yes, she was only about the size of a palm!
So at that moment, she marveled at how giant Xue Dili was, even her head was smaller than his entire hand.
With a gentle touch on the little girl’s hair, it felt like petting petals, and the little girl showed a satisfied, squinting smile, leaving Xue Dili speechless.
The good news was that Little Tree Lady had finally transformed.
The bad news was that she was too tiny... Xue Dili feared he might accidentally crush her...
The little girl, oblivious to this, kept darting among Xue Dili’s fingertips, tickling him, almost making him reflexively swat her like a fly, but he managed to suppress the urge.
Yet, looking at the still towering thousands-of-meters-high tree in the Consciousness Space and this extremely tiny elf-like young lady in his palm, Xue Dili asked in confusion, "Can you detach from your main body?"
Little Tree Lady, or perhaps better called Little Flower Fairy now, tilted her head and said, "Of course, you can use my main body’s power however you see fit, but right now I want to go home and form a band with my sister!"
Xue Dili: "..."
Oh no, this one’s wasted too. Just transformed into a human and already wants to form a band with the eldest daughter. That’s life for you.
"Let’s watch Ultraman first; it’s really good. We can talk about going home when the time comes," Xue Dili wiped a cold sweat, feeling that his family might really end up forming a girl band.
But, little one, what instrument can you play?
"Okay!" Little Flower Fairy Xue Lingshu was quite obedient, at least more so than the troublesome eldest daughter, Little Dragon Lady. She started watching the Tokusatsu series and pulled out a wooden... whistle? Or was it a harmonica?
Forgive Xue Dili, for he knew little about musical instruments. He was clueless about music; he could only recognize the piano and violin in the home studio, and he learned to recognize a bass only under Fafnir’s guidance.
Just like Fafnir couldn’t distinguish between a 4090 and 4060 graphics card, Xue Dili was just as confused about the various musical instruments, lipsticks, and other such items they used.
Fortunately, among the kids at home, only Little Dragon Lady was mischievous; the rest were well-behaved.
As for Little Dragon Lady, she was full of energy and often grumpy, even bothering the neighbor’s big yellow dog so much that it no longer came over for food. Probably, Little Dragon Lady annoyed it enough.
Little Flower Fairy watched the Tokusatsu series while playing the whistle.
The whistle was familiar, and it sounded lovely, giving Xue Dili the feeling of eating mushrooms in the Ireland Great Forest.
Oh well, if the child wants to form a band, let her; Xue Dili thought, then stopped worrying about Little Tree Lady in the Consciousness Space and refocused on listening to the lecture.
However, this kind of life really satisfied Xue Dili. He had a home, daughters, and lively children; attended classes during the day, and watched TV with the kids or played games together. The days felt fulfilling.
This fulfilling life made Xue Dili somewhat indulge and forget about the Mist Council and the other world’s chaos.
"Life is really peaceful now, raising kids like this is nice, and there’s no one nagging about marriage either, entirely different from before," Xue Dili smiled, looking at the layered molecular structures in organic chemistry. He smirked, as the Cursed Blood on his fingertips began synthesizing the corresponding organic compounds.
And in the sky, the Earth Consciousness smiled too, actually preferring that Xue Dili remain in touch with his humanity, no matter how many years passed, always resembling the boy it favored most.
...
At the convention, Old Barak and Alola were bewildered as they took in the various bizarre and outlandish sights.
There were armored individuals, a variety of incomprehensible anime characters, and strange, quirky cosplay, creating a kaleidoscopic scene that felt like an assault on their senses.
What the heck is all this?
