Chapter 100- Grandmother (Part 2)
Emilia was a strikingly good-looking older woman. Even though she was well into her 70s, she looked no older than 55. Her hair was midnight black with strings of white mixed within. She had a face similar to that of Elio, except far colder and more cunning than Elio’s softer features.
She stood at a good 170 cm in height with a straight back and a very strong presence that seemed to command respect no matter where she went.
"What happened to you?!"
"Ehhh... My face changed a bit because of training."
"Oh my days." Emilia approached him and gave him a close glance. "You definitely changed, Elio."
"Is that... bad?"
"Who said that?! Come here and give your grandma a big hug!" She replied as she opened her arms. Elio smiled immediately and hugged her tightly.
"I missed you, Grandma."
"You better do, or I would’ve whooped your ass," Emilia said as she tried to hide her wide smile from appearing on her face. Only her grandson will melt her heart like that and make her drop her facade. He always had a way with words to get her to hug him even tighter.
"I remember when you were just a little toddler running around the house and eating everything you saw on your way. I had to chase you around the entire day just to make sure you don’t eat something poisonous."
"Grandma!" Elio blurted out as he pulled away. His face started to go red from embarrassment. ’Why are you saying this stuff in front of them?!’ He said with his eyes as he glared at her.
However, Emilia ignored him and looked up. "Hmm, and you must be the Vaylor girl. Fiona, right?" She said.
"Yes, Miss Emilia. It’s my pleasure to meet you." Fiona said with a respectful tone as she extended her hand for a handshake. Seeing that, Emilia smiled faintly and took her hand.
"Thank you for taking care of my son all this time. I really owe you one." She said. "I know how troublesome this brat can be."
"I didn’t do anything bad, by the way!"
"Yeah, yeah, you better not cause Fiona trouble."
"Why are we all standing outside? Come in. I will go bring some beverages." She said.
With that, the group walked into the living room and sat down.
"That young lady, Melissa. She found me outside and invited me in. You’re friends with her, Elio?" She asked.
"Yeah... good friends," Elio replied. "Ehem, she’s very nice."
"Indeed. She is such a sweet girl. Aaaah, she reminds me of myself when I was young."
’If you only knew she’s several times older than you...’ Elio laughed to himself as he looked down. This world was truly ridiculous.
"So, why did you come unannounced, Grandma. I could’ve come here before if I knew."
"Eh, don’t worry about it. But that reminds me, why are you not in your apartment? Where are you?"
"Ummm, well, it’s a long story but-"
"He moved in with me, Miss Emilia," Fiona spoke, seeing Elio struggling to explain. "I asked him to."
"What?" Emilia looked at her for a second before she exhaled. "Now that’s surprising. I didn’t know you two had that kind of relationshi-"
"We don’t." (x2)
The two replied at the same time, expecting Emilia to say that. She was a very playful woman, even for how serious she seemed.
"Right, right. It’s for ’that’ reason, isn’t it? I have heard what happened." Emilia said. "I’m glad you’re ok, Fiona. I was very worried when I heard what happened."
"Thank you."
"And well, you did the right thing by bringing him closer to you. This kid will be a magnet for more and more trouble in the future."
"I’m trying to cut the distance as quickly as possible, ok?" Elio replied with an annoyed tone.
"Yeah, and you better listen to everything she says. So, you two have been living together for a week now?"
"Yes."
"I see..." Emilia nodded her head faintly. "Don’t forget to use prote-"
"Grandma!" Elio cut her off before she could finish that ungodly sentence. He didn’t even want to hear the rest of it because he knew he would die inside.
"What?"
"Don’t you even!"
"What? I was just giving you a proper warning as an adult who worries about you having child-"
"Grandma!"
"Alright, alright, I will shush. You’re quite the rude kid, Elio."
"For stopping you from saying such stuff? Yeah, I don’t mind."
Meanwhile, Fiona simply shook her head with a faint smile. Seeing how the two were going back and forth like friends. She could see that they were very close and that warmed her heart. This was the person closest to Elio’s heart, so she must be an amazing person.
"Well, here is the hot chocolate!" Melissa arrived in the room with a tray filled with cups of steaming chocolate drinks. "Warm yourselves up. It’s cold outside!"
"Thank you, Melissa," Elio said.
"Of course." She winked before serving everyone a cup. Fiona refused at first, but could only take it after Melissa insisted. She put the cup down on the table after pretending to take a sip.
For some reason, she didn’t feel like drinking that chocolate for one reason or another. Something told her it’s better not to.
"So, Miss Emilia. How was Elio as a kid?" Melissa asked.
’That’s the first question you could think of?!’ Elio facepalmed.
"Hmmm, he was quite the special kid. He was far quieter than now and way more timid. He also liked to sit alone and stare into the distance. He has times when he’s very energetic and likes to run around, touching everything under the sun. But he never caused me any trouble. He’s a very sweet boy."
"Grandma..."
Hearing her words, Elio felt touched. He could only smile at her.
"But, there was this one time. I remember it was the first day for him back at school during second grade. Back then, Elio was so timid that he couldn’t even ask his teacher whenever he needed to go to the bathroom."
"Grandma, stop!"
"So, he usually makes sure he’s set for the entire day before leaving. One time, he drank too much water, and for hours, he sat there, unable to hold it in... Until he peed on himself."
"Oh my~ So cute! I can imagine him squirming and panicking! Kyaaaa, small Elio is too cute!"
’I’m doomed... my self-esteem... my reputation... It has been decimated.’ Elio grabbed his head as he looked down. In front of the Queen of Vampires and Fiona Vaylor, one of his darkest secrets was brought to life again.
Looking to his side, he was shocked to see Fiona carefully focused on the conversation as if that piqued her interest.
’Why are you interested in this?! Hello?! Fiona?! What the hell is even going on here?!’
"Speaking of young Elio. I have also brought with me something nice." Emilia said as she pulled her bag out and rummaged through it until she pulled something out... An album.
"I have many photos taken of him as a kid to make sure they remain as a memory."
"..."
That was the last nail in Elio’s coffin. He was doomed.
