Chapter 1936 395: Banished to the Cold Palace
Chapter 1936 395: Banished to the Cold Palace
"The evidence is right in front of you. How do you explain it?" the Emperor of Tianmeng Country asked.
"Your Majesty, all of this is fake. It's meant to sow discord between us as husband and wife. You must not believe it!" the Empress pleaded.
"At this point you still want to quibble? Men, throw the Empress into the Cold Palace. She is never to leave for the rest of her life!"
The Emperor no longer believed the Empress's lies. Given all the signs, the Empress truly was highly suspect of committing the crime.
When he tracked down the boss behind the assassin organization, the truth would naturally come to light.
"Yes, Your Majesty!"
The guards in the room immediately took the Empress away.
The Empress panicked, protesting in utter grievance, "Your Majesty, I've been wronged, I have never harbored any intent to harm you! Your Majesty… Your Majesty…"
The eunuchs and maids of Qianning Palace looked at each other. The Empress had actually poisoned the Emperor—her courage was far too great. Now that she met this kind of retribution, it was what she deserved.
Before this, someone from Qianning Palace had already gone to tip off the Crown Prince. The Crown Prince would surely rush over soon.
Sure enough, just as the Empress was dragged to the gate of Qianning Palace, the Crown Prince arrived in his carriage.
Seeing two guards rudely dragging his own imperial mother, the Crown Prince couldn't help but rebuke angrily, "Insolence! Is the Empress someone you dogs can treat like this?"
"Your Highness, these are the Emperor's orders. We are only carrying out his command," the two Imperial Guards answered respectfully.
Although the Empress had been seized, the Crown Prince's status remained. They could not afford to offend him lightly.
The Crown Prince also knew that without the Emperor's command, no one would dare treat his mother like this. So he moderated his tone and said, "Do not take my mother away just yet. I want to confront the Emperor face-to-face and ask why he is treating my mother this way."
Seeing her son's filial devotion, the Empress of Tianmeng Country felt a flash of comfort.
Perhaps her imperial son was still her lifeline, so she begged, "My son, you must save your mother. Your mother has been framed by villains. You must expose that villain's scheme!"
"Mother, don't worry. I will definitely help clear your name."
With that, he strode into the room without a backward glance to question his imperial father.
"Father, why are you throwing Mother into the Cold Palace?"
"She has committed the crime of deceiving her sovereign," the Emperor of Tianmeng Country replied calmly.
"I don't believe it. Mother loves Father so much. How could she commit treason against you?"
"If you don't believe it, listen."
The Emperor of Tianmeng Country had Lin Yifan play the recording of the conversation between the Empress and Imperial Physician Zhao.
After listening, the Crown Prince felt as if thunder had struck on a clear day. He was stunned.
"Father, this must be the plot of this treacherous scoundrel. You must not believe the forged evidence he produced."
"The sneak attack in the Alchemy Room today was carried out by your mother's men. How do you explain that?" the Emperor countered.
The Crown Prince hadn't expected his father's eyes to be so sharp, that even such sneaky matters could not escape his notice. It seemed that before true experts, anything done by low-Realm Cultivators could not slip past their eyes.
At this point, he could only shoulder all the blame himself. "The sneak attack in the Alchemy Room today was arranged by me!"
"So you're saying you are guilty as well?" the Emperor asked.
"I did this entirely for personal grudges," the Crown Prince answered.
"And that allows you to disregard my safety? Is that not the crime of deceiving your sovereign?" the Emperor demanded furiously.
"Yes, I have committed a wrong and I am willing to accept punishment, so long as Father can spare Mother."
"Then what about tonight's assassination? Don't tell me you're going to say that was your doing as well?"
"That's right. It was ordered by me," the Crown Prince replied firmly.
"What a dutiful son. Since that's the case, I'll grant your wish," the Emperor of Tianmeng Country said. "Men, drag the Crown Prince out and execute him by slow slicing!"
At the gate of Qianning Palace, the Empress heard this sentence and panicked at once. She hurriedly ran inside. "No! Your Majesty, it was all arranged by me. It has nothing to do with Tai'er!"
"Mother, this was all arranged by me. It has nothing to do with you," the Crown Prince insisted on taking the blame onto himself.
"What nonsense are you talking? Everything Mother did was for you. And now, for Mother's sake, you want to seek death? Is that worthy of everything Mother has done for you?" the Empress asked.
"Mother, say no more," the Crown Prince's eyes were already reddening. He understood all too well what lay behind this.
"Your Majesty, it was all done by me. It has nothing to do with Tai'er. I have evidence to prove it."
The Empress stepped past the Crown Prince and voluntarily confessed everything.
"Oh? Take it out and let me see."
This was exactly the line the Emperor wanted by using this tactic.
He did not believe that mother and son, with such deep feelings, would fail to reveal the truth.
"Mother, don't!"
The Crown Prince tried his best to stop her, because he did not want mother and son to be separated—whether by distance or by death.
The will of Heaven was unfathomable; the sentence could change at any time. If this evidence enraged the Emperor, no one would be able to save his mother.
"Let go!"
The Empress's mind was made up. Compared to Tai'er's life, her own was not so important. At worst, she would just spend the rest of her days in the Cold Palace.
The Empress took out a prescription and handed it to the Emperor, saying, "This is the prescription for that Poison."
The Emperor of Tianmeng Country did not understand this Poison, so he handed it to Lin Yifan to look at.
After reading it, Lin Yifan found it identical to what was recorded in the books, so he nodded.
With that confirmation, the Emperor of Tianmeng Country was furious. He slammed the table. "Where did you get this Poison prescription?"
"I obtained it from an organization," the Empress answered.
"An organization? What organization?"
"Don't concern yourself with that. Just know that it's an organization," the Empress replied.
"If you don't say, I'll punish Tai'er along with you!" the Emperor threatened.
"Your Majesty, you cannot afford to offend this organization. Don't press me any further."
The Empress begged. It wasn't that she didn't want to speak, but that she simply couldn't.
"Is it the Moonlight Organization?"
Off to the side, Lin Yifan suddenly spoke.
The Empress looked utterly shocked and asked, "How do you know that?"
"An organization that can cover the sky with one hand and span several planar worlds—aside from the Moonlight Organization, what other organization could it be?" Lin Yifan replied noncommittally.
"You're not just some roaming doctor, are you?" the Empress asked, growing more and more suspicious of Lin Yifan's identity.
Because this man could actually neutralize Poison from a higher-plane world, and he also had conflict with that matchmaker of considerable background. His identity could not possibly be simple.
"Of course I'm not a mere roaming doctor, but my status is not that exalted either. I'm just an ordinary Loose Cultivator," Lin Yifan replied.
"An ordinary Loose Cultivator? Who would believe that?"
The Empress would never believe that Lin Yifan's identity had no powerful background. Otherwise, how could he possess such superb medical skills?
"Believe it or don't. I only want to tell you one thing—you've fallen into their trap," Lin Yifan said.
"Why?"
"The Moonlight Organization is plotting a major undertaking. Its reach has already begun to infiltrate every nation in the World of All Things. Once they succeed, it will be the end of the Realm of Longevity," Lin Yifan answered.
