Chapter 377 - 374 Hiring a Hitman
Chapter 377 - 374 Hiring a Hitman
The petty man achieves power! Ding Dalin cursed silently to himself.
"Ding Dalin, you've got some nerve to insult Master Wan Fuchang!" Gao Fei's face changed as he pointed at Ding Dalin's nose and began to curse.
"You're slandering me!" Ding Dalin exclaimed, getting agitated, "When did I ever insult Master Wan Fuchang? Don't try to frame me here."
"I heard it loud and clear, you just did."
"I did not!"
"You did!"
"You... you're slandering me! You're framing me! You have no shame!"
"Slap!"
Gao Fei raised his hand and slapped Ding Dalin across the face.
"You dare to hit me!"
"Slap!"
Gao Fei slapped Ding Dalin again, "The first slap was on behalf of Master Wan Fuchang, the second was for myself. If you're not convinced, I'll take you to Master Wan Fuchang right now and let him deal with you personally."
"Master Wan Fuchang won't believe you!" Ding Dalin roared.
"How do you know Master Wan Fuchang won't believe me?" Gao Fei snorted, "Don't forget, I'm currently the favorite of Master Wan Fuchang. My words carry weight." He added, "Think about it, if both of us present our complaints, whom do you think Master Wan Fuchang will believe?"
"You..."
"Ding Dalin, if I were you, I'd swallow my pride and not make a big deal out of this."
"Gao Fei! You're nothing but a despicable, shameless villain! Bastard! Son of a bitch!"
"Slap!"
Gao Fei raised his hand and dealt a third slap, "Say one more word, see if I don't turn you into a pig's head."
"You're going too far!!!" Ding Dalin was shaking with rage, at that moment, he wanted to rush forward and kill Gao Fei, but he restrained himself because he knew all too well that with his ability, he was no match for Gao Fei; charging at him would only bring humiliation upon himself.
"I'm bullying you, what about it?" Gao Fei huffed.
"Just you wait... I'll get you sooner or later." After dropping a harsh threat, Ding Dalin turned tail and fled.
"Spineless cur, better not let me see you again, or I'll smack you every time I do," Gao Fei spat.
...
On his way back, Ding Dalin grew angrier the more he thought about it, "Gao Fei, you bastard!!! I'll destroy your entire lineage!!! I curse you to be struck dead by lightning the moment you step outside! To descend to the eighteenth level of hell and endure endless torture after death!" Ding Dalin hated Gao Fei to the core, so much that it made his teeth itch and his chest feel tight.
No, this can't go on! I must persuade Lord Cao to hire thugs to kill Gao Fei!
Ding Dalin was aware of his own limitations; dreaming of killing Gao Fei with his own hands was pure folly, he could only rely on Cao Buwei for his revenge.
"My lord, have you made a decision?" Ding Dalin lifted the tent flap and entered, only to find Cao Buwei sitting in deep thought on a chair.
"Not yet." Cao Buwei shook his head, "This is no trivial matter, I must think it over carefully before making a decision… Eh, why is your face swollen?" Cao Buwei looked up and noticed Ding Dalin's swollen cheek, asking with confusion.
"It was Gao Fei who did it." Ding Dalin said through gritted teeth, "He stopped me, first mocked me relentlessly, and then slapped me several times."
"Outrageous!" Cao Buwei exploded with anger, "Gao Fei is really audacious! To even dare strike my man? No, this cannot be let go so easily, come on, I'll take you to see Wan Fuchang himself, to seek justice for you." Cao Buwei stood up and headed outside.
"Forget it," Ding Dalin said with a wry smile, shaking his head, "It's no use seeking Wan Fuchang's intervention."
"What do you mean by that?" Cao Buwei frowned, "Are you worried that Wan Fuchang will side with Gao Fei?"
"Do you know the reason Gao Fei used to strike me?" Ding Dalin didn't wait for Cao Buwei's response and blurted out, "He accused me of insulting Wan Fuchang."
"What! You insulted Wan Fuchang?!" Cao Buwei was shocked.
"I've been framed by Gao Fei," Ding Dalin quickly explained, "Even if I had a hundred times the courage, I wouldn't dare insult Wan Fuchang." As he spoke, Ding Dalin let out a bitter laugh, "Gao Fei is now the favorite in Wan Fuchang's eyes. His words carry weight. If he complains to Wan Fuchang about me, I might just be in big trouble..."
"Damn it!" Cao Buwei cursed, "That's utterly shameless, truly shameless! How can such people exist in this world! The heavens should strike him down with Divine Thunder!!! Gao Fei alive is a scourge! He's making me furious!"
"My lord, if Gao Fei can frame me, he can frame you as well. As long as he lives another day, don't expect to live peacefully," Ding Dalin said, "You should contact the bandits immediately, have them kill Gao Fei. My lord, don't hesitate."
"This..." Cao Buwei was unsure for a moment.
"Just give the nod, my lord, and I'll talk to the bandits. If things go south, I'll take full responsibility. It won't come back on you," Ding Dalin said, ready to risk it all to eliminate Gao Fei.
"You'll take care of it?" Cao Buwei was tempted.
"Yes, I'll handle it," Ding Dalin nodded vigorously, "I'm willing to take some risks to remove the thorn in our side, Gao Fei."
After a long contemplation, Cao Buwei finally made his decision, "Fine, let's do it that way! Go contact the bandits, give them some incentives, and get them to take out Gao Fei!"
Seeing Cao Buwei's agreement brought an elated look to Ding Dalin's face, "I'll get right on it." Ding Dalin turned to leave.
"Wait," Cao Buwei called out.
Ding Dalin stopped in his tracks and turned to look at Cao Buwei, "Do you have any further instructions, my lord?"
"Be very careful and discreet. When you go out, you'd better use a disguise to ensure you're not recognized," Cao Buwei instructed.
"Rest assured, my lord, I will proceed with caution," Ding Dalin patted his chest in assurance, "As I said, if anything is exposed, I'll shoulder the blame and won't implicate you at all!"
"Go ahead," Cao Buwei nodded, "Make it quick and I await your good news."
"I'm leaving," Ding Dalin didn't look back as he walked out of the tent.
"Phew..." Cao Buwei let out a quiet sigh, muttering to himself, "Is what I'm doing... right or wrong? Conspiring with bandits is a serious crime. If exposed, I'd be done for. But to remove the threat of Gao Fei, I must take this risk."
...
Ten days later.
Ding Dalin returned bedraggled, his hair unkempt, his clothes covered in dust, a pale complexion, and a staggering gait, looking every bit the beggar.
"Why have you only just come back?" Since Ding Dalin had left, Cao Buwei hadn't slept peacefully, constantly agitated.
"Don't even mention it," Ding Dalin said with a pained smile, "It took tremendous effort to find a bunch of bandits and then negotiate for several days to finalize the deal."
"How did it go? Did the bandits agree?" Cao Buwei asked eagerly.
