Chapter 307 - 305: More Than Half of the True Qi Depleted
Chapter 307 - 305: More Than Half of the True Qi Depleted
Under the scorching sun.
A flying ship zoomed across the sky.
Inside the cabin sat two people, Hu Shuisheng and Gao Fei.
Hu Shuisheng leaned back in his chair, eyes closed in meditation.
Gao Fei, too, had his eyes shut and breathed evenly, appearing to be asleep.
"Xuan Jizi, if I fight to the death with Hu Shuisheng, are my chances of winning high?" Gao Fei asked telepathically.
"Do you want to hear the truth?"
"Yes."
"Your chances aren't great."
"You don't think highly of me?"
"Hu Shuisheng is a Nascent Soul Cultivator, and you are at the Inedia Stage. If you confront each other, you are sure to lose."
"Not necessarily," said Gao Fei. "I have many aces up my sleeve, such as the Thousand Transformations Stone, and Heavenly Demon's Ten Transformations..."
"Even with the Thousand Transformations Stone and the Heavenly Demon's Ten Transformations, your odds of winning are slim," Xuan Jizi said.
Gao Fei silently calculated in his mind, Hu Shuisheng's cultivation was at the First Layer of the Nascent Soul Stage, with a Combat Power of 31,000 points. Hu Shuisheng was sure to have Treasures on him, at least Middle Rank, possibly High Rank.
Typically, a High Rank Treasure could increase one's Combat Power by about five times, twice would be 62,000 points, thrice 93,000 points, four times 124,000 points, and five times 186,000 points.
A preliminary estimate put Hu Shuisheng's maximum Combat Power at 186,000 points.
Now to calculate Gao Fei's Combat Power.
Gao Fei's cultivation was at the Eighth Layer of the Inedia Stage, with a Combat Power of 18,000 points. When the Thousand Transformations Stone transformed into a large hammer, it could double his Combat Power, and executing the Heavenly Demon's two transformations could also double his Combat Power.
Together that's four times the Combat Power, once would be 36,000 points, twice 54,000 points, thrice 72,000 points, and four times 90,000 points.
The difference in their Combat Power was vast.
"You're right... I'm no match for Hu Shuisheng," said Gao Fei.
"In the end, it's because your cultivation is too low," Xuan Jizi sighed.
"A head-on confrontation is out of the question; I'll have to think of another way."
"Have you come up with a strategy?"
"I have a rough idea, but whether it will work or not, I can't say."
"What's your idea? Share it with me, and I'll offer some advice."
"My plan is..." Gao Fei laid out his thoughts.
After listening, Xuan Jizi nodded continuously: "The idea is good; it's worth a try."
"You agree with my plan?"
"It's the only method left. If you can successfully carry it out, you might have a slim chance of survival. If you fail, then you're utterly doomed."
"At this point, I can only give it my all," Gao Fei sighed heavily in his heart.
...
The sun set, and the sky darkened.
"Whoosh!"
Hu Shuisheng took out a Luminous Pearl and gently placed it on the table. The pearl emitted a brilliant glow, illuminating the entire cabin exceptionally bright.
"Elder," Gao Fei started. "Your son wasn't killed by me! The murderer is someone else!"
Hu Shuisheng's eyelids remained lowered, ignoring Gao Fei.
"You should go after the real murderer," Gao Fei added. "He must not get away with it."
Still, Hu Shuisheng said nothing.
"I can swear an oath to the heavens; if I killed your son, let me be struck by lightning and meet a terrible end."
"Shut your mouth," Hu Shuisheng raised his head and glared at Gao Fei, "I don't want to hear you talk!"
"I..."
"If you say one more word, I'll cut out your tongue."
"..." Gao Fei closed his mouth and inwardly cursed Hu Shuisheng, What a piece of crap!
...
Time flew quickly.
Before they knew it, it was the latter half of the night.
"Cough cough cough..." Gao Fei suddenly started to cough violently, his expression one of extreme pain, "Puh!" Gao Fei spat out a mouthful of blood, his breathing becoming rapid.
"What's wrong with you?" Hu Shuisheng furrowed his brow.
"I've been poisoned..." Gao Fei pressed his hand to his chest and shivered as he spoke, "I feel terrible... Ah..." Gao Fei collapsed on the ground, foaming at the mouth, his body convulsing intensely.
"Stop pretending!" Hu Shuisheng sneered, "Playing that trick in front of me won't work."
"I'm not pretending... I really feel awful... cough cough cough..." Gao Fei coughed and spat out blood, his breath growing fainter and fainter.
Hu Shuisheng realized that Gao Fei didn't seem to be faking it; he walked over, bent down, and took hold of Gao Fei's wrist, "Are you really poisoned? The poison has already spread throughout your body; you won't live more than a few days." It was truly like a Nascent Soul Cultivator; with just one touch to the wrist, he had figured out Gao Fei's condition.
"I... I'm going to die... going to die..." Gao Fei lay sprawled on the ground, his mouth wide open, breathing barely perceptible, his pupils beginning to dilate.
"Hey! You can't die!" Hu Shuisheng panicked, "You haven't cured my son yet!" He took out a handful of elixirs and stuffed them into Gao Fei's mouth, then directed his True Qi to aid Gao Fei in dissolving the elixirs, "You get up! Get up!"
With Hu Shuisheng's treatment, Gao Fei's complexion looked slightly better.
Seeing Gao Fei recovering, Hu Shuisheng stopped transmitting his True Qi...
"Ah... it hurts so much..." Gao Fei, who had just begun to recover, started to tremble again, and blood flowed from his mouth in waves.
Hu Shuisheng, startled, hurriedly placed his hand on Gao Fei's chest and continued to transmit True Qi. Oddly enough, whenever Hu Shuisheng sent True Qi, Gao Fei would gradually stabilize. As soon as he stopped the flow of True Qi, Gao Fei's condition would become life-threatening again... It frustrated Hu Shuisheng greatly.
To prevent Gao Fei from dying, Hu Shuisheng could only continue to pump True Qi into Gao Fei's body, intermittently feeding him some detoxification elixirs.
After a while, a dense layer of sweat beads appeared on Hu Shuisheng's forehead, his breathing became heavy, and his hand on Gao Fei's chest began to tremble slightly; these were the signs of excessive depletion of True Qi leading to weakness.
"Are you better now?" Hu Shuisheng asked, panting.
"Much... better..." Gao Fei said weakly, "Not so painful anymore..."
"I'll ask you again, how confident are you that you can save my son?" Hu Shuisheng asked.
"Eighty percent, I guess."
"Are you sure?"
"Very sure!"
"You better not be lying to me, or I'll make your death very ugly."
"You've said that dozens of times; my ears are about to callus from hearing it."
...
Another half an hour passed.
"I can't take it anymore," Hu Shuisheng withdrew his hand and sat on the ground, gasping for air, "Oh boy, this is killing me." After several hours, Hu Shuisheng had used up two-thirds of his True Qi and was nearly on the verge of collapse.
"You look very tired, don't you?" Gao Fei asked.
"I've lost more than half of my True Qi; how could I not be tired?" Hu Shuisheng replied irritably.
"With so much True Qi depleted, your strength must have decreased as well, right?"
"Hmph! Even if my strength has decreased, I can still kill you," Hu Shuisheng retorted.
"Sect Leader Hu, I have something to show you," Gao Fei said as he wiped his Storage Ring, and suddenly, a short sword appeared in his palm, exuding bone-chilling coldness.
"It's just a Low Rank Treasure, what's there to look at!" Hu Shuisheng said dismissively with a curl of his lip.
