The vegetables that the old man cultivated with great care.

I had been helping the old man with shipping these, but since Serai-san apparently had some business to attend to, today I was the one assisting him. So, I loaded the vegetables onto a white kei truck with a canopy and set out to deliver them to nearby greengrocers and supermarkets.

"Understood. I'll park the car in front of the store then."

At the voice of the old man seated in the passenger seat, I, gripping the steering wheel, slowly brought the car closer. Looking over, in front of the store, a large number of ladies holding shopping baskets were waiting.

"Ah, look, they've come! The vegetables have arrived now!"

While listening to that exchange between the shopkeeper and the customers, I got out of the car and was promptly surrounded by the shopping ladies, who urged me to hurry, hurry.

"Ah, hold on!?"Then, while calming those ladies down, I picked up a cardboard box full of vegetables from the truck bed, but before I could even carry it into the store, numerous hands reached out, and the vegetables inside were snatched away as if it were first come, first served.

Since the supermarket had to be delivered to before opening hours, we went there first, but this produce shop was the third stop, so it seemed they had been waiting quite eagerly.

Well, saying they were snatched away doesn't mean it was robbery; the ladies who got the vegetables properly headed over to the shopkeeper, so the shopkeeper was busily occupied with settling the payments.

Huhu, while there's the issue of food shortages, the old man's vegetables are very popular. Well, they're fresh and very delicious, so I understand their popularity.

And so, with those deliveries finished, we set off on the return journey.

Along the way, we also stopped at a grocery store for our own shopping, but there, too, the shelves were still quite bare as usual. However, seeing that gave me a good idea, so I bought some spices that were still left.

These are rather difficult to use in cooking without a certain degree of knowledge. Plus, on their own, they aren't things that fill your stomach, so even on the sparsely stocked shelves, they were quite leftover.

And, seeing that, I suddenly remembered Shark, who had once said quite proudly, "If you have curry powder, even the smelliest meat is no big deal!" Right. We have time anyway, so I thought it might be fun for everyone to make a proper curry from scratch using spices. Besides, it gets a bit uncreative to have barbecues all the time.

That said, well, this is more for Yuzuki-chan, in a way.

Yuzuki-chan is also a somewhat unusual girl.

Since Shark has such an outlandish personality, she doesn't stand out as much when next to her, but due to her fastidiousness and inflexibility, it seems she previously had a hard time fitting in with those around her. Even if each individual spice has a terribly strong character, if you mix them all together and stew them, lo and behold. It becomes a wonderfully flavorful curry.

By various spices mixing together, they enhance each other, elevating their flavors and aromas. Hmm, there might be something in this that applies to the way of people as well.

...However, even if I can think that way now, I, whose own self-centeredness brought misfortune and led to a lonely youth. So I think all the more. I must not let these young girls tread the same path I did.

Fortunately, Shark and Yuzuki-chan have reconciled from their opposing relationship and have become close enough to act together.

But, that relationship is still lacking. It's obvious at a glance that Yuzuki-chan holds affection for Shark, but Shark's attitude towards Yuzuki-chan is merely that of one friend among many.

This is truly a waste!

Since both are good-looking and strong, I'd like them to become such good friends that they'd strike back-to-back poses and shout in unison, "We are such-and-such!"

Yes, former rivals who were at odds, then reconciled—that's what true best friends are.

Therefore, I'm convinced that an event like making curry together will surely shorten the distance between them and deepen their bond. After all, making curry should be among the best types of events as a fun summer memory.

But, when I returned home with such thoughts and expectations, for some reason, Serai-san was waiting for our return with a troubled expression.
