Chapter 2573 - 858: Avalon, What Kind of Blessing Is This? It’s Way Too Bizarre! (3)
"Gluttonous Flower... a very dangerous carnivorous plant."
She turned back to explain to Brother Meow and Three Five Battles:
"In the Greeny Sacred Land, we use this greedy and dangerous plant to guard the natural treasury. The fluid it secretes can melt iron armor in seconds, and creatures bitten by it will be injected with paralyzing toxins. If they fail to escape in time, they’ll be swallowed into its belly.
Your organs and bones will be decomposed within an hour.
It’s ranked in the top twenty of dangerous supernatural plants in Avalon’s Book of Nature. Its surface has a special structure, even flames can’t kill it. The only way to completely eliminate the threat is to use a specially formulated herbicide to make it dissolve itself.
In the legends of the Elf Kingdom, the Gluttonous Flower represents the aspect of Mother of Forest that specializes in handling corpses, as an envoy of the cycle of all things."
"This is definitely not a native plant of the Polluted Swamp!"
Brother Meow nervously touched his neck and said softly:
"If there were these things here, Transylvania would have perished 800 years ago. Look at this insane thing!"
"Of course, it’s not a native plant here."
Several Druid leaders, including an old man holding a Thorn Wood Cane, said hoarsely:
"When King Louis’ army broke through the Greeny Sacred Land, the last seed of Gluttonous Flower was destroyed. This dangerous plant is theoretically extinct, but it’s reappeared here. Alas, I understand what blessing the God of Nature bestowed upon this swamp...
It’s the power of wild nature!
My god hopes this to be a land of war that devours all malevolent invaders who enter.
Polluted Swamp is now a name of the past; it should be called ’Carnivorous Forest.’ These newly born dangerous plants feed on flesh, and my god supports the Transia People in their fight against the Black Disaster this way.
It’s an unimaginable blessing."
"A place similar to this exists only in the forests of the Castia Elf Kingdom."
The Druid Sister with a scar on her face explained to Brother Meow and Three Five Battles:
"Legend has it that it’s the Sacred Land of the aspect of Mother of Forest of Avalon God. Any life that enters without permission will be devoured by wild plants. Now Transylvania also has a similar Sacred Land. The God of Nature truly loves you."
"But wouldn’t these things distinguish between enemies and friends?"
Brother Meow said worriedly:
"After the war, we plan to open a trade route in the swamp. If it’s like this, won’t the swamp become a no man’s land?"
"No, the God of Nature’s wrath will only target malicious invaders."
The Druid leader shook his head and said:
"Otherwise, we would have been attacked upon entering here. This swamp has its own consciousness. Avalon’s Blessing strengthened this forest spirit, just like Ancestor Forest; it also gave birth to a Heart of Forest.
It won’t target innocent passersby, nor will it blame those who conduct destruction and hunting for survival. But if you show hostility and disrespect to nature here, you’re done for.
Continue forward.
Go to the place where the Blood-sucking Root is located and see if there’s something even more astonishing there."
"Ah? Isn’t a large patch of Blood-sucking Roots dangerous enough?"
Three Five Battles complained:
"I already feel like I’ve stepped into a haunted house of the God of Nature. Honestly, being here makes me very uncomfortable."
"Blood-sucking Roots are never the problem."
The Druid Sister sighed and said:
"It’s the things that accompany Blood-sucking Roots that are truly troublesome."
She glanced at Brother Meow with a subtle look and said:
"You have such a thing with you, executing Red Knight Lord of judgment."
"Hmm?"
Brother Meow was stunned.
But he soon reacted, reaching out to take out his seed of War Thorn Beast. Seemingly sensing the presence of the same kind, the ground of the swamp ahead quickly began to tremble, with a giant creature rapidly approaching.
"Don’t move! Stay in place, maintain goodwill, and summon nature’s aura! Wild Thorn Beast is coming! Don’t anger it."
The Druid Sister shouted, and everyone stopped where they were.
A few seconds later, the vines and mud in front were trampled open, and a huge black Thorn Beast, as big as a mammoth, appeared before everyone.
It’s larger than Brother Meow’s combat Thorn Beast, with more rugged wooden patterns and a more fierce aura. Clearly, it was an untrained wild Thorn Beast from Avalon Church. The essence of this creature is a special plant, unable to grow just anywhere.
Its presence here has already proven some unsettling change in the Polluted Swamp.
"Damn!"
Brother Meow maintained his stance on the spot, cursing in a low voice:
"This ghostly place is doomed, such a level of plant dominator has emerged..."
"Look at the sky!"
Three Five Battles suddenly shouted.
Everyone looked up, seeing more strange birds flapping their wings flying out of the depths of the swamp, stimulated by the movement of the wild Thorn Beast.
With sharp heads, less feathered skin, elongated bodies, they were very similar to Pterosaurs in Brother Meow’s memory, but these strange birds had sharp claws underneath, their bodies richly red, very much resembling legendary little demons.
Among these red birds were enormous white raptors, disappearing into the horizon with just a few flaps of their wings, fast as lightning.
"Beak-Breaking Birds, raptors extinct for hundreds of years on Green Island."
The Druid Sister said in awe:
"And Wolf-Hunting Owls! The largest silent hunters recorded by the church, feeding on gray wolves. The God of Nature’s gift has brought them back into this world; I’m guessing they’re to deal with the fierce Throne Wolves of Wolf People.
But even War Thorn Beasts and Hunting Owls can only inhabit here, implying there must be other more dangerous things hidden deeper in this swamp.
Avalon’s power has reshaped the ecology here.
I think this is my god’s response to the Maginot Line war, a natural slaughter is about to begin."
