Chapter 2546 - 849: Murphy’s Strange Harvest (3)

But trust me, this is absolutely not to make the epic journey of that poor unlucky kid I chose more difficult... really, look into my sincere eyes if you don’t believe me!

"Damn!"

Murphy cursed, throwing aside the belt full of impressive, unknown gadgets he held.

The good news was he guessed right; the unknown machine in front of him was indeed a member of the Sentinel Corps.

The bad news was that that bastard creator, out of some cautious logic, had prevented Murphy from forcefully deciphering Sentinel secrets with the Alpha privileges.

Though usually such caution was a good thing, Murphy really felt like swearing now.

He sighed, turning the mechanical body on the ground over, undoing the worn-out protective suit, looking for the energy cabin of this bionic robot to replace the battery and wake her from a millennial slumber to fulfill some of Lord Administrator’s personal requests.

Uh... why did that sound weird?

"The battery cabin of such advanced robots is also at the back, how is this the same trick as the Transformers I played with as a kid! Don’t tell me I need AA batteries to charge her once I open it."

Murphy mocked viciously, knocking fiercely on the battery cabin on the robot’s back, and when it wouldn’t open at all, he took the very advanced engineering wrench from the robot’s left hand, similarly unable to activate but whose form shifted in mechanical rhythm near the battery cabin, ejecting a laser pen.

Murphy held it, watching as this high-tech wrench shot aurora to cut a circular hole in the robot’s back, removing the bionic skin and finally revealing the energy cabin completely destroyed by an energy burst.

The thing was still giving off a burnt smell even after a millennium; Murphy put on gloves and took out the contents.

He totally didn’t understand the structure of this black-tech energy cabin, but he at least knew how to change batteries, so he poured out the shattered light energy battery, took out a standard energy battery and pushed it inside, putting the things back into the robot’s body, then retreated several steps, holding both necessary evils with one hand and the high-tech wrench to brace defensively.

Who knows what reaction this Sentinel robot would have upon waking up?

In the worst-case scenario, he might have to fight her, not sure how tough the maintenance engineer in this Sentinel sequence was; had he known, he would’ve worn the Power Armor over, but the size of the Power Armor definitely couldn’t pass through that fracture layer, so...

"Click"

A crisp sound interrupted Murphy’s thoughts.

Under his gaze, the robot lying on the ground suddenly twitched, like a poor sod who accidentally touched the electric door screamingly sprang up from the ground.

She clutched her head and shouted:

"Explosion imminent! Explosion imminent, everyone evacuate quickly! I will stay and dismantle it... ah! I’m gonna die I’m gonna die I’m gonna die... creator above!

Why didn’t you install a universal defusal module when designing this model of Sentinel?"

"Uh..."

Murphy raised his eyebrows looking at this robot lady clutching her head, jumping around and yelling, suddenly realizing this Sentinel member unexpectedly had a cheerful personality.

Completely lacking the indifference and rationality a robot ought to have, though perhaps some circuit had been fried during that millennium-old energy burst, after all her entries show she’s in a "core processor disruption" state.

Hmm, could she be another mechanical version of Little Mummy, the kind with a waterlogged brain?

"Hey! Who are you? Why are you here?"

The robot quickly calmed down after several seconds of screaming, scrutinized the surroundings suspiciously, and focused her gaze on Murphy; the handsome vampire easily captured the moment her pupil enlarged and shrunk like a camera lens, facing her inquiry, Murphy was about to speak but the other screamed again:

"No! How did the energy of the suppression device drop to this level? It’s already fallen below the safety threshold close to dangerous marks; the subspace fracture could lose control any moment.

Quick!

Vampire, use the emergency code to call for Sentinel Corps support! The emergency code is... is... huh? What’s the emergency code?"

The robot wore an incomprehensible expression, knocking her head hard as if trying to use "physical repair technique" to adjust memory, but this attempt clearly failed.

"Excuse me, ma’am, do you still remember who you are?"

Murphy asked softly, which made the female robot glare at him sharply, loudly saying:

"How could I, with the most advanced thinking circuits and huge database, forget such a thing! My name is... mm, my code is... mm, my sequence belongs to... mm...

Wait!

Let me check the database first, sure some chip has malfunctioned, I knew I shouldn’t have listened to those radicalists’ jabbering; casually replacing my original programs would cause all sorts of problems."

She muttered, tapping her forehead, then her whole person entered temporary shutdown self-check mode.

Murphy shook his head; he’d figured out the truth.

This guy was also affected by the memory-clearing program Lord Paryen had released back then; she’d already forgotten much; seriously, can that blasted program even affect robots?

That’s really black-tech!

The handsome vampire shrugged, glanced down at the engineering wrench in his hand, discovering a small inscription on the wrench, he examined it closely seeing it was a line of text:

"Happy Birthday, my dear Monica, may this world prosper as the creator planned, may we never see the day we’re activated.

-Love, your Sister Mosna."

"Sigh, even robots had full families in that bygone Golden Era."

Murphy read this line stirring an indescribable feeling within him; he glances back at the energy cabin modified to suppress the subspace fracture behind.

After several seconds of silence, he strokes the engineering wrench, speaking softly:

"But our reckless actions disrupted your peace too... sorry, Sentinels."
