Chapter 2520 - 841: Truly, No Survivors on This Calamity-Ridden Continent Are Innocent
Murphy made a promise that is currently impossible to fulfill.
He only has this set of Marshal-level Power Armor, which he got for himself as a twentieth birthday present, so of course, he wouldn’t just give it to the players.
But Handsome Murphy doesn’t feel guilty about it, because he isn’t deceiving his pure and lovely players.
Eden is delving deep into analyzing the information in the Expedition Ruins Database. Although it hasn’t pinpointed exact coordinates yet, Murphy had already received confirmed information before setting out for battle that there exists a military-controlled zone under the Eden District Management Committee in the Dark Territory.
The originally intended destination of the transport airship that crashed into the ruins was precisely there.
In other words, if the prototype Power Armor can be found in the ruins, there’s a high probability of finding similar items in the official military areas of the Eden District. Lord Pa Ying had mentioned before that many official warehouses of the Eden District are hidden in the Dark Territory.
The surface of the world was reshaped by the massive explosion marking the end of the Golden Era, but the underground world was not as affected, making this a solid piece of information.
The small players will certainly have to go to that place eventually. Veylanther has already begun issuing the "Days of Mejewa" side missions to those who have raised her personal reputation to "Revered" status.
The mission’s destination is Mejeva City in the Eternal Abyss, with the first stage requiring players to help the Weaver of Destiny return to her destroyed hometown.
The Eternal Abyss is the area connecting the Dark Territory with the surface, meaning once the players reach there, they are close to the Power Armor reward they crave.
Moreover, Murphy simply promised a reward, not that he would place a complete set of Power Armor directly into the players’ hands.
The adorable little players probably understand that this kind of reward is likely just the starting task issued by a main storyline NPC. Although it may be tough to claim the final reward, the entire process from accepting the task to obtaining the reward is considered by Murphy, the Dog Planner, as part of the "gaming experience."
As a Dog Planner adept at understanding player psychology, Murphy ended this not-quite-intense battle by using a promise to boost player morale, perfectly concluding the raid and making the first appearance of the Marshal Armor even easier than expected.
Of course, the most pressing matter now is to return to the Expedition Ruins and dismantle the equipment he’s wearing...
It’s not that the Power Armor isn’t good; its internal suspension system is excellent, making Murphy feel as if he’s in a cozy, warm bio-pod, so much so that he feels he could comfortably sleep in it.
The reason he needs to dismantle it quickly is mainly that the Marshal Armor is just a prototype.
As everyone knows, prototypes are constructed regardless of cost but due to immature technology, they always have various issues. Just after crushing Bone-biting Governor’s skull in that spectacular manner, Murphy awkwardly discovered that his impressive toy’s power system had a transmission failure.
This was likely caused by the high-altitude drop he executed earlier, pushing for maximum effect, which triggered a chain reaction.
It doesn’t mean his precious thing is broken, just that like a car, it’s impossible for it to be in a perfect state right after purchase; it always requires fine-tuning to perfectly suit his combat style.
Overall, evaluating the initial combat within the robust armor, the sensation was exhilarating.
"Hog, Old Senke has already blocked the path of the Whip-tail Clan’s servant army over there; go and make some arrangements."
As he was walking off the battlefield with the players cheering around him, Murphy didn’t forget to remind the Wise Wolf:
"I need to leave here early tomorrow morning, so conclude your conversation with Old Singer tonight and persuade the Whip-tail Clan to change sides. If it doesn’t know what’s wise..."
"I understand, Master."
The Wise Wolf responded through the built-in communication of the Power Armor:
"Chief Xinger received the creator’s blessing, granting the grace of longevity. It has already collected the reward for allegiance in advance. Now it’s time for it to fulfill its duties. If it refuses, then it must pay an equivalent price for the extra decades it has lived."
"But Master, do we really not need to pursue Gehrman·Bonebite?
With the destructive power of both your War Marshal and my Wise Wolf, a direct assassination mission isn’t without the possibility of success; the only challenge is pinpointing his location."
"No, let him be, Gehrman·Bonebite is not our problem."
Murphy resolutely responded:
"Furthermore, even if we kill Gehrman now, the will of the Master of Hunting would still control the Wolf People. The Black Disaster’s entry into the Ligurian Peninsula is inevitable. We can’t waste time on such attempts."
"Hog, our next target is a god. Let the affairs of human wars be resolved by human warriors."
"As ever, your thinking is wise. I will immediately execute your will."
The Wise Wolf obediently responded.
Murphy nodded, glanced at the battlefield, and issued new orders to the players eagerly taking photos around him, even trying to touch the Power Armor. He instructed them to participate in gathering the spoils of war and then return to the Expedition Ruins under the escort of the Dukes Guard.
