Chapter 2489 - 830: Though He Was Not Present, You Should All Thank That Lord’s Grace_3

But this is the only time.

This great power requires a medium to be released in the physical world, and Gaia’s power is limited to just one use, which can only save the Brass Dwarves in their current dire situation.

"Swish"

Sir Aurora descended with his good friend Pa Ying into the impact pit where the rift began.

Pa Ying dismounted, leaving the Holy Spear floating beside him. He stepped forward on the glass-like soil, reaching out to touch the Sacred Hammer which still maintained its striking posture.

A peculiar and heavy force protected it.

Upon touching the hammer, Lord was immediately invaded by visions of the collapse of the Brass Fortress. The Holy Spear, usually invincible against evil, could not protect its bearer this time, indicating the force wasn’t malevolent.

This was clearly a warning.

Do not touch!

"Alright, alright, you’ve lost an old friend. I understand."

Lord took a few steps back, made a gesture of mourning toward the hammer cursed by the great being, sighed, and was about to leave. But seconds later, having just mounted his horse, Lord Pa Ying frowned and looked back.

He could sense more Ratmen approaching from underground.

Clearly, the anger of the great being couldn’t frighten anyone in the current situation, at least not the dusk’s evil creatures.

If so many Ratmen were allowed to rush into the ruins of the Brass Fortress, the surviving Brass Dwarves would be doomed. But what could be done to solve this problem now?

No.

There wouldn’t be any solution.

At least Lord Pa Ying couldn’t imagine one, yet he didn’t just withdraw. He had promised Hadlan he would help take care of those who survived the calamity.

Even though these dwarves had forsaken their faith in the Mother Earth, they were still part of the civilized faction and couldn’t be allowed to perish at the Ratmen’s hands.

A few minutes later, on the edges of the Brass Fortress Ruins, a Flying Feather Unicorn swooped down from the sky. Under the bewildered and soot-covered gaze of some Brass Dwarves, Lord Pa Ying dismounted again, patted the noble Sir Aurora’s hindquarters, and prepared the unicorn for a charge.

He stood firm with the Holy Spear in hand, facing the direction from which the Ratmen swarmed.

"I must say, you’re ready to act recklessly again."

Old Edward’s helpless voice rang out from above, and in the next instant, he folded his gliding wings and landed on the ground. He glanced at Lord Pa Ying and then at the frightened dwarves continually fleeing the ruins behind him.

He said:

"You know you can’t save them all, even if you die here from exhaustion."

"That’s why I brought you, Edward."

The Lord said calmly:

"You’re the tireless blood hunter; given enough time, you alone could kill all the Ratmen of the Dark Mountain Range. You’ve been hiding too long in the shadows; it’s time you smell the sun."

"Listen to what you’re saying. I’m a vampire, not a freak like Murphy. I naturally despise the sun."

Old Edward quipped while drawing the Sting of Fear:

"Us old folks really owe you."

"Of course, you owe me a lot... so enough talk, get ready to fight."

-----------------

"Whoa, whoa, whoa! Did you see that, Murphy? Gaia is really angry, and she actually used that hammer to unleash her power in the material world! The loss rate of transmitting power across the subspace and the Star Realm is astonishing, yet she still did it.

Looks like the Mother Earth is truly furious."

The Endless Manis’ voice buzzed in Murphy’s ear, thriving on the chaos.

But Handsome Murphy had no time to respond. He was using Manis’s vision to witness the entire destruction of the Brass Fortress. Thanks to the Time Snake’s ability to be anywhere at any time, he even saw the whole saga between Lord Hadran and General Banock.

The secrets within this matter were terrifyingly numerous upon closer inspection, like Banock’s pathetic role in this so-called "change," and the entire process of the God of Wealth’s birth and the silent symbolic sacrifice completed by Banock.

Murphy knew he’d spend a lot of time researching this. And since Triss was the continent’s most outstanding theologian, she certainly wouldn’t let the explosive event of Dutna—uh, Dutna Burngold’s birth—pass either.

But seeing Lord Pa Ying and Old Edward standing guard before the Brass Fortress ruins, Murphy realized that it was time for a hero as handsome as himself to step in and turn the tide.

He was willing to do so.

But first, Murphy had to consider if the benefits and risks of doing so were proportional. He spent a few minutes contemplating this, then quickly traversed R-9 base to reach the "Brain in a Jar" personally guarded by Triss.

As the Ratmen launched their attack at the front, the irregular crystal’s light points appeared and disappeared at an astonishing speed, as if the thing were truly "thinking."

"Mannis..."

Murphy squinted, placing his hand on the object, feeling its cold touch, and said:

"Help me contact Lady Gaia!"

"Ha, I must have misheard because of all the excitement. Who did you want me to help you contact?"

"The Mother Earth, the dwarf’s Racial God, the lord of all things mountains and earth... I said nothing wrong, and you didn’t mishear. Help me contact Gaia. Before I act to save those miserable dwarves, I must understand the true intentions of the Mother Earth.

After all, flattering the wrong target could end badly."

"Woohoo, that’s risky, given Lady Gaia is currently angry. If a disreputable guy like me dares knock on her door now, I might well be..."

"If this works out, I’ll share a divine favor with you, the favor of a god, think about it yourself."

"No need to say more! Give me a few minutes; I’ll go catch up with Brother Pad."
