Chapter 567 - 492: Entropic Transformation [Two-in-One]
Coulberg shook his head without speaking, pulling a transparent six-sided crystal stone from his chest. Inside the crystal, a mass of colorful matter twisted, gleaming with an iridescent light under the illumination.
"Number 479, Stone of No Color, associated with the ’Infamous Flesh Container Miracle’."
"So, they have already collected the 479th Stone of No Color?" Ke’epo took the crystal stone, his expression turning serious and solemn.
"The progress is much faster than usual."
"Due to the ’Parasite’ miracle, those guys have been acting more frequently lately, miracle events are breaking out around the world constantly. The ’Wing’ department of the Association is overloaded, I assume those guys are planning a ’big move’ soon," Coulberg said.
"I thought we would have a bit more time this time," Ke’epo observed contemplatively.
"What do they plan to do over there with the Queen?"
"That’s Black Spade’s business, it has nothing to do with us. We just need to mind our own duties," Coulberg said as he stood up. Just as Ke’epo gazed intently at the wine in his cup, with a hint of unease beneath his carefree expression, he realized the tall man had not left the room but stood silently in place, half of his face hidden in the light.
He was surprised, but he coughed awkwardly to cover it up, slightly narrowing his eyes while tapping the long table gently, the sound resonating like a gong, strike after strike.
"Old buddy, what’s wrong? Need me to help you out?"
"The girls on Christia Island."
Ke’epo’s face twitched.
People who wander the sea for years have needs like this, which is understandable.
He felt a weight lift from his heart, and rising cheerfully, he placed his hands on his old buddy’s shoulders, steering him towards the door while recounting old tales and animatedly introducing the girls of Christia Island.
Behind the long table, a man’s portrait was set within a gilded frame. The oil painting depicted a handsome man in gold and red noble attire, adorned with the Kingdom’s Honor medal, a glint seeming to flash in his composed eyes.
...
As the beam of light appeared, the girls returned to Cloudtop Apartments. The sensing lights turned on automatically, adjusting the environment to the most comfortable temperature for the human body, and the piano on the second floor played a soothing and peaceful tune.
"I’m all sweaty, I just want to shower quickly..." Chichu Chun muttered casually.
Angelina and Bai Youyou seemed to sense each other’s thoughts, exchanging a glance.
The next moment, they bent forward simultaneously, slightly exerting their legs.
In almost the blink of an eye, the two disappeared from their spots, the wind they stirred up unsettling the cups and plates on the table. A black and white flash of lightning dashed towards the second floor!
In an instant, Angelina reached the bathroom first, kicking the door open in an attempt to rush in, closely followed by Bai Youyou, who was even quicker, already having removed her clothes and wrapped herself in a bath towel, gripping the silver-haired girl’s hand tightly.
"I got here first!" Angelina struggled to free herself from the girl.
"But I already changed my clothes." Bai Youyou’s cold red eyes remained calm.
Angelina clicked her tongue, pretending to give in, and in the moment the girl let down her guard, she quickly entered the bathroom, pulling the door to close it.
But Bai Youyou reacted swiftly, as if expecting it, extending her leg to block the bathroom door, pressing her back against Angelina’s body, grasping the door handle firmly and refusing to yield an inch.
"Don’t push it!" Angelina said, "Aren’t you the one who likes to talk about rules and order? Everything should be first come, first served, right?"
"If we’re talking about first come, first served, it should be me. I took the first step just now!" Bai Youyou grit her teeth. "You’re the one who didn’t get bringing a change of clothes, not following the rules is on you, Angelina!"
"You’re inflexible. How is that not following the rules? Just ask Rice Wine to bring them to you while you bathe."
"Do you only know how to trouble others?"
Bai Youyou, with supple posture, lifted her leg, pressing it against Angelina’s face to push her out. Angelina, not to be outdone, used all her might to force her way in, clutching the towel wrapped tightly against Bai Youyou’s chest. In the struggle, the two almost fell to the ground.
Angelina was kicked out the door, discontentedly taking a few steps forward, still wanting to argue:
"How about we shower together, Miss? Need me to help scrub your back?"
"No! Need! Don’t!"
Bai Youyou glared fiercely at Angelina, slamming the door shut forcefully.
A ’bang’ of the door shutting echoed, and it took Angelina a moment to recover, eventually shrugging and turning to see the other three girls looking at her wordlessly.
"I’m next," Chichu Chun said defiantly.
"Last time you said I’d be first next time, you’re not going to go back on your word, are you?"
Angelina, unwilling to argue with a child, crossed her arms and pretended not to hear.
Time quickly slipped to the latter half of the night.
Xu Xiaoyou slowly sat up, massive floor-to-ceiling windows ushering in the city’s flowing lights. She left the immersion pod, shaking her head.
After a simple wash-up, the girl stepped barefoot onto the cashmere carpet, the light veil covering her pale ankles, the hazy moonlight outlining the defined lines of her waist. Xu Xiaoyou tied her hair into a ponytail, exposing her neck, and walked a few steps to the floor-to-ceiling windows, leaning her hands on the sofa behind her, the bustling night of Asgard mirrored in her calm eyes.
Since the Misty Tide incident, she had stayed in this city for over a month in reality, or rather, she and Chichu Chun had spent over a month at the Spring of the Gods Hotel, the sightseeing time in the Northern Territory adding up to less than two days.
Most of the time was spent in the Oasis, even with the Superdimensional Projector, suddenly returning to reality brought a fleeting sense of unreality, as if separated by an era.
Xu Xiaoyou closed her eyes, sensing the changes in her body, the Fanatical Devotion and the attributes gained in Oasis all bolstered her in reality.
There was still some time before the next match, tomorrow she planned to travel back to Dragonfly Town with Chichu Chun, Evergreen Ivy and Tiger Tail Orchid seemed to have something important to discuss with her in person. Although she already had a suspicion, she hoped to ascertain the truth more precisely.
Xu Xiaoyou held a cup of hot water, looking at herself in the mirror. Lost in thought, suddenly she felt an itch beneath her eyelid.
In her daze, a bloody seam appeared on her cheek, and in the blink of an eye, an eye full of the colors of desire snapped open.
It was the Spiritual Gaze, why was the Spiritual Gaze suddenly showing signs of losing control?
Xu Xiaoyou hesitantly touched her cheek, and the eye swiftly closed upon contact with her fingertips.
Her Spiritual Gaze resonated with the Heart of Desire, if it wasn’t due to her, then only one possibility remained for this occurrence.
Xu Xiaoyou finally noticed the oppressive scent flowing slowly through the air, decayed and pale, the shadows on the walls endowed with life, creeping and spreading, receding quickly under her gaze to reveal the original light.
Unknown whispers sounded by her ears, cold and numb.
In the darkness, shadows morphed, writhing into letters, aligning into sentences.
——"Life is meaningless."
——"Instead of watching familiar people disappear, why not proactively sever all ties, harboring no expectations for tomorrow from the beginning."
——"If this light is delayed, or never shines on them from the start, how is that different from not existing at all?"
It was Angelina...
Xu Xiaoyou hurried upstairs to Angelina’s room, the unsettling premonition growing stronger. Upon seeing the immersion pod with the other inside, the unease exploded in her mind, washing her thoughts away to blankness.
Inside the immersion pod, the silver-haired girl lay quietly amidst the white Other Shore Flowers, her skin transparently pale. The crimson heart in her chest pounded fiercely, ’thumping thumping,’ the pod’s delicate apparatus severely damaged, all its data erratically erroring. Twisting, screeching veins covered everywhere, undulating slightly, like intertwined branches, densely covering her body and merging with the immersion pod itself.
Her Sea of Consciousness had deviated severely.
This was a sign of the ’entropy change’ starting in her physical body.
