Chapter 35: Lady Jade Sovereign
Chapter 35: Lady Jade Sovereign
Shadow Master.
The younger generation of the Russell Clan had talked about him during the journey—one of the academy’s top figures, someone not inferior to Lady Jade Sovereign.
Victor had assumed he wouldn’t have any backing here like he did in the Heavenly Thunder Sect, where both the Sect Master and Bryce openly supported him.
But it seemed his mother’s influence extended even into this academy.
How could an ancient figure like the Shadow Master send his own disciple to serve her son?
Even that disciple, Evan, addressed Victor as "Young Master."
From Victor’s observation, Evan appeared to be about the same age as Alisa, yet his talent was clearly extraordinary.
Even without a family background—he didn’t even have a surname—being the Shadow Master’s disciple alone was enough to place him on equal footing with young masters.
And yet, he still bowed.
This could only mean one thing: his master had ordered him to submit to Victor, and he didn’t dare refuse.
"How about you show us around?" Victor said.
The academy was enormous.
Compared to it, the Russell Clan was nothing more than a small village.
And here, there were countless special training grounds.
"Of course..." Evan nodded.
"Please follow me."
But before they could even take a step, an overwhelming pressure suddenly appeared right in front of them.
It shocked everyone—students included.
A woman appeared, seemingly in her thirties.
She had long, straight white hair and wore a loose, pristine white robe that concealed her graceful figure.
Tall, with skin as pale as snow and a flawless, beautiful face, some were momentarily captivated upon seeing her.
Yet her oppressive aura made it impossible for anyone to stare disrespectfully.
Everyone knew she was holding back.
"Lady Jade Sovereign!" Evan immediately greeted her respectfully.
Only then did the students realize who she was.
A top-tier figure. Her classes were reserved for only a select few, so most students didn’t recognize her.
No one expected her to appear here.
She ignored Evan entirely and looked at Victor with cold indifference.
Victor could feel hostility from her.
"Boy, cancel your engagement with Alexandra," she said coldly.
Victor wasn’t particularly surprised to hear that demand again.
But the pressure from this woman made his heart pound.
"Lady, do you intend to kill me? Can you—or do you dare?" Victor suppressed his fear and asked.
The woman clearly didn’t expect such a question and froze.
A mere Sage Realm boy dared to ask her this.
Unfortunately, she couldn’t say she could—or that she dared.
"You truly are that bitch’s spawn," she replied.
Victor chuckled softly.
"It seems you’re someone who was beaten by my mother. Unfortunately, this isn’t your place to interfere. My engagement with Alexandra is an agreement between people above your standing. Even the Holy Light Sect has no objections—so why are you the one protesting?"
"You—" The woman seemed far more skilled at intimidation than argument.
"Hahaha, Jade, don’t bully the students..." another voice suddenly spoke, though its owner didn’t appear.
"Shadow, you’ve truly become that bitch’s lackey. You’re tarnishing our academy," Lady Jade replied angrily.
"There’s nothing wrong with that. Even the Headmaster doesn’t mind. You’re the one tarnishing the academy’s reputation by bullying a student. What’s wrong with their engagement? Even your disciple doesn’t object. In my opinion, they are quite a fitting, destined pair."
"You damned bastard!" she cursed before suddenly disappearing.
Everyone exchanged awkward glances.
She came and left just like that.
Of course, no one dared mock her.
Even Evan let out a sigh of relief when she was gone.
"Young Master..." he was about to speak, but Victor suddenly looked toward a certain direction.
Behind a massive pillar, he saw a young man with curly brown hair.
He was somewhat thin, with pale skin and a handsome face filled with determination, standing alone as if he needed no one.
Compared to other students who each had unique auras, he had none at all.
Yet his calm gaze toward Victor felt far more piercing.
Alex.
Victor naturally recognized him.
The boy whose entire skeletal structure had once been taken by his mother.
In the end, he had been expelled by the Dragon Blood Sect, which had no tolerance for the talentless.
Who would have thought that he would later awaken the Heaven Dragon Soul?
Two Heaven-grade talents. That was truly something extremely rare.
After meeting Victor’s gaze, the man turned and left.
Evan also watched him.
"Young Master, he is the Headmaster’s personal disciple," Evan explained.
Of course, he likely knew their story—but it wasn’t something that needed to be said.
The Headmaster’s disciple.
Victor had to admit, that man was fortunate.
"How is his life here? Tell me," Victor asked.
"He rarely appears and always keeps to himself," Evan replied as he led Victor around the academy, followed by the Russell Clan members.
"So, no friends?"
"Almost none. Well... he often visits Alexandra. Of course, many people visit your fiancée. I occasionally do as well. She’s a kind woman who welcomes everyone, whether strong or weak. But as for Alex... it’s said he once saw her face—by chance."
"What’s with her face?" Victor asked, confused.
"Alexandra always wears a veil. No one can see her face, so some people say that whoever sees it will become her lover. Of course, that’s not true. Your fiancée seems very loyal to the agreement between her father and your mother. It makes sense—a Heavenly Woman would never betray. The slightest intention to do so would prevent her from even becoming one."
"Seems like I’m quite lucky," Victor said.
"Perhaps you should meet her soon and walk around with her—so everyone realizes who Alexandra rightfully belongs to," Evan replied with a chuckle.
"Aren’t you jealous at all?"
"No, of course not. I’ve been self-aware from the start. Rather than chasing an untouchable woman, I’d rather find someone ordinary. Many of them are beautiful as well."
"...."
"Where does Alexandra live?" Victor asked.
"Under that sakura tree." Evan pointed toward a large sakura tree at the center of the academy.
"I see... let’s go there," Victor said without hesitation.
