My Mate Has Two Wolves

Chapter 517

Chapter 517

Third Person's POV

"What are you laughing at?" Cedrick's brows furrowed. If she didn't explain herself soon, he'd lose his temper.

Was she getting too out of hand now that he couldn't keep her in check?

Jessica quickly stifled her laughter and shook her head. "Nothing. I just find it amusing that you're jealous of him. Your jealousy is misplaced, though. Leo and I have always interacted like this. Sure, we've done some publicity stunts for work before, but we really don't have any chemistry."

"Is that so? But I can't help feeling you two care for each other a bit too much." Cedrick still felt uneasy.

"Leo's my boos and friend. When he heard the news, he checked in on me—it's what friends do. Please, don't be jealous," Jessica said, feeling a sense of helplessness. The truth was, she and Leo had a perfectly innocent relationship.

Cedrick knew full well there was nothing between them, but love could make a man irrational.

"Forget it. It's not bad to have friends looking out for you." Cedrick adjusted his mood, trying to convince himself he was overthinking.

Jessica, now serious, said, "You know I only have eyes for you. You must know that. I've had a crush on you since three years ago. No one else has ever captured my heart. Rest easy—unless you cast me aside, I'm yours for life."

Hearing her heartfelt confession, Cedrick's mood lightened.

He playfully pinched her cheek, a mix of punishment and affection.

"Alright, every word you said, I'll hold you to it. If you go back on your promise, just wait and see!"

Leo finished up his work, glanced at his watch—it was nearly half past nine.

Lately, with both work and family matters piling up, he'd been swamped.

He reached for his phone, contemplating whether to call Sunny to check on her.

He opened his contacts, hesitated over her number.

They'd only staged a breakup for his grandmother's sake. Knowing it was an act, he had to keep up appearances.

After all, his grandmother wasn't truly senile; if she caught wind of their ruse, she'd be furious.

"Forget it, let her rest for a couple of days," Leo muttered to himself. He tightened his grip on the phone, grabbed his keys, and headed home.

After Blake sent Richard and Bianca's clandestine meeting photos, Richard's schemes came to a halt.

The photos served as a powerful deterrent.

Blake arrived home early today, just in time for dinner with his family.

Once, his home had been lonely, with irregular meals and often returning to an empty space.

Back then, single Blake's life was a mess.

Now, seeing his elders at the table and the laughter of his children around him, Blake realized a home's atmosphere could be so warm that it quickened his pace to return.

"Blake, how's Leo doing? Is he holding up alright?" After dinner, as Patricia excused herself upstairs, Abigail approached Blake with concern.

Blake knew his mom was worried about Leo and shared her anxiety.

"Leo is dealing with his relationship with Sunny—it's not great. But don't worry, Mom, I'll be there for him," Blake reassured her.

He knew Leo and Sunny's breakup was only temporary and believed Leo wouldn't be devastated beyond repair.

"Actually, I wanted to call him, but I don't know what to say. Sunny is Olivia's daughter. Honestly, I'm conflicted—should I forgive her or be angry?"

Abigail's eyes clouded with confusion.

The woman she once despised had now ensnared her son's heart.

It felt like fate's cruel twist, binding their lives together inescapably.

Blake understood his mom's distress and softly comforted her, "Mom, don't dwell on it. Things will take their course and resolve in time."

"But I'm worried Leo can't handle this blow. Breakups are painful," Abigail's eyes reddened with worry.

"Breakups can make a man stronger—it's not necessarily a bad thing," Blake said with a faint smile.

"You're making light of his pain. How can you joke like that?" Abigail glared at him, visibly upset.

"No, Mom, I'm serious. Leo's not fragile. This experience might just make him cherish his next relationship even more," Blake explained.

Unable to convince his mother otherwise, Blake let out a breath and turned to leave.

Catherine, overhearing the conversation, approached curiously. "Mom's really worried about Leo and Sunny, I've noticed her zoning out a lot lately."

"Yes, but worrying won't help. Time will tell," Blake sighed.
