Chapter 500
Chapter 500
Third Person's POV
"Mom, something happened just the day before yesterday, and you had no idea? Odd. Blake must have known. The police even took his statement," Richard said, stealthily observing Patricia's reaction.
Sure enough, her face turned ashen, and her breathing grew rapid—clear signs of barely contained fury.
"How could that boy not breathe a word to me? What's he up to?" Patricia slammed the table in indignation, her anger fueled by Blake's secrecy.
Richard mentally rejoiced, thinking, Blake, Blake, how will you worm your way out of this one?
To hide something this huge is sheer folly.
"He probably thought it's too old a case and didn't want to worry you and Emerson," Richard added, fanning the flames.
"He must have kept it from you because of Emerson's health. That boy's too filial, for his own good!" Patricia scolded, yet her tone betrayed maternal pride, completely immune to Richard's insinuations.
Richard's triumph evaporated instantly. But his real aim wasn't to smear Blake—he wanted Patricia to uncover the link between Olivia and Sunny, to drag Leo into the muck and, in turn, fracture the brothers' alliance.
"True, he's always thinking of you all. But Mom, aren't you curious about the killer's identity?" Seeing Patricia's face drain of color and her daze, he pounced with the critical question.
"Yes! Who murdered Marc?" Patricia jerked upright, her clouded eyes bloodshot with rage.
"It was Olivia," Richard said bluntly.
Patricia's body lurched violently. She nearly collapsed.
Richard swiftly caught her, feigning concern. "Mom, are you alright? I shouldn't have mentioned it... That bitch's already been arrested. Marc can finally rest in peace."
"I knew she was no good! Marc was blind to marry such a venomous woman..." Patricia dissolved into hysterical grief, cursing and trembling.
"All my fault for speaking out of turn. Not as composed as Blake, but I just couldn't keep silent another moment..." Richard put on a show of remorse, though his mind was already scheming his next move.
"Where is she? Take me to her! I need to confront her and ask where I went wrong with my son!" Patricia shot to her feet, all appetite gone.
Richard quickly barred her way. "Mom, she's a maximum-security prisoner. Visits aren't that simple. Let me smooth things over first, and I'll accompany you!"
"Hurry up! I can't wait another minute!" Patricia's voice quivered with fury.
"Rest assured. By the way, I found out Olivia has a daughter named Sunny... Rumor has it she's been dating Leo in the entertainment circles lately. Are you aware of this?" Richard dangled the bait.
"What?" Patricia was struck dumb, gripping Richard's arm fiercely. "Who is her daughter?"
"Sunny! Mom, didn't you know?" Richard feigned shock.
Patricia's face turned deathly pale, her breaths shallow. "Heaven help us..."
"Stay calm! Let the young sort it out. You must take care of yourself!" Richard verbally soothed but inwardly panicked— he couldn't afford to have his mother collapse from shock.
"No, I must get involved! Take me home now!" Patricia shoved the table aside, determined to mobilize the family at once.
Richard, seeing his plan unfold, stepped aside. "Mom, the dishes are all ordered. How about..."
"Forget the meal! Let's go!" Patricia's face was pale with urgency.
At the Royal Packhouse, Richard tactfully stayed outside. "Go ahead, Mom. I've got things to handle."
"Alright," Patricia waved him off weakly.
Abigail met her in the living room, surprised by her early return. "Mom, you were supposed to dine out. Why back so soon..."
"Drop it. I'm furious!" Patricia gritted her teeth.
Abigail hurriedly seated her. "What happened? Who dared to upset you so?"
"These two good-for-nothing sons of mine! Call Blake and Leo immediately—I want them home now!" Patricia clutched the sofa armrest, trembling with rage.
Abigail froze, sensing grave urgency.
Seeing her hesitation, Patricia barked, "Do it now!"
Abigail, worried the brothers might have caused some catastrophe, complied.
"Alright, I'll call them. But maybe wait until tonight—they're likely busy now..."
"No excuses. They drop everything and come home this instant. Unless they want to be the death of me," Patricia's face darkened further at Abigail's attempt to defend them.
Abigail, alarmed by Patrcia's fury, fetched her phone and dialed Blake.
"Mom!" Blake's deep voice answered, edged with tenderness.
"Your grandmother met with Richard earlier and came back in a fury. She wants you and Leo home ASAP. Are you coming back?" Abigail whispered discreetly, aiming to alert her son.
"Met with Richard?" Blake's voice hardened instantly.
"Yes. He invited Patricia to lunch, but she returned without eating!" Abigail sighed softly, her worry palpable.
"I'm on my way! I'll call Leo. Gotta go!" Blake hung up, already certain what had transpired. He decided to return.
