My Mate Has Two Wolves

Chapter 476

Chapter 476

Third Person's POV

Catherine gave a light laugh. "No need to look. The head wound's healed. I'm fine."

Blake was still worried about her injury. "Don't be careless. The doctor said to get checked right away."

"I'm really fine!" Catherine patted his hand to reassure him. "If it hurt that bad, I'd be at the hospital."

Seeing her joke around, Blake figured she might be okay, but he couldn't shake the worry.

He cared too much to let her get hurt, so he held her hand tight to calm himself down.

Back at the Chavez mansion, Catherine tried not to think about Harley.

Truth was, she hadn't been dwelling on him. But those women's words at the gala had gotten to her, making her worry about how Harley was doing.

Sunny was sitting under a sun umbrella today, shooting a sports shoe ad.

It wasn't for a global brand, but she was content.

As Leo said, better to climb the ladder steadily; rising too fast without the works and popularity to back it up could invite resentment.

If a female star's fame outpaced her talent, it'd crumble eventually, and the criticism would be harsher.

Sunny agreed and decided to gain experience quietly.

"Sunny, have some water. Why is it suddenly so hot? Spring just started, and the sun's already blazing. Running between outdoor shoots and the studio must've made you thirsty!" Clarissa seized the chance to approach, her enthusiasm hard to refuse.

Sunny took the warm water cup and smiled. "As long as the ad's creative, I don't mind the work. You crew members are the ones working hard."

"Don't compare yourself to us! Us getting tanned is nothing, but you're different—look at that skin, glowing and dewy. Is it genetics or top-notch skincare?" Clarissa exaggerated her praise.

Sunny, flattered, said, "A bit of both, I guess."

"Figures. With all those high-end products you use, your skin can't help but be great," Clarissa said, then went to wash a plate of fruit for her.

"Clarissa, you're so kind, like a caring friend," Sunny said sincerely. Clarissa reminded her of the sister she never had—her stepsister had only ever bullied her.

Clarissa's eyes flickered oddly, but she put on a generous front. "A caring friend? I'm just doing my job. Getting paid to take care of you is the least I can do."

"Some people don't lift a finger even with a salary. You're always helping out. You're the most enthusiastic person I've met," Sunny said genuinely.

Clarissa froze, laughed awkwardly. "I figure doing more can't hurt."

As Sunny headed back to shooting, Clarissa watched her go.

The past few days of faking warmth were paying off.

Gaining Sunny's trust would make her boss's task easier.

The thought of the money coming her way excited her.

Sunny had it all—beauty, a slender figure, a boyfriend like Leo, and a bright future. It was enough to make anyone envious.

Clarissa, only three years Sunny's senior, had a vastly different life.

Sometimes women envied without reason—if you had it better than them, that was enough to fuel their resentment.

That was how Clarissa felt. Initially getting close to Sunny for the task, but now seeing her charmed life made her seethe with unfairness.

She even looked forward to the boss sending people to kidnap Sunny and seeing how her perfect life would crash.

Sunny ran around the set until her legs ached and her smile felt frozen, but the fulfilling work satisfied her.

When the sun set and the shoot wrapped, she sat in the car, massaging her sore calves. Clarissa quickly squatted to offer a massage, but Sunny politely declined with a laugh.

Back at the company, Sunny was greeted with a delicate cake topped with a lifelike rose.

"What's this for?" Sunny asked as Leo approached with the cake, her cheeks flushing.

"Treat for my superstar," Leo said with a smile.

"But last time you said no sweets to keep me from getting fat," Sunny took the cake carefully and scooped a bite—it melted in her mouth, sweet but not cloying.

"Enjoy what you love. Life's too short for restrictions," Leo's eyes were full of affection. He was the perfect "good man" at this moment.

Sunny chuckled. "This sudden kindness is making me nervous… You're not expecting something in return, are you?"

"No strings attached. Enjoy," Leo shook his head to ease her mind.

After a few bites, Sunny felt it was unfair not to share. "Want a taste?"

"I don't eat sweets," Leo strictly controlled his diet, which was likely how he kept his fit figure.

"Come on, just one bite. It's delicious!" Sunny held the spoon out to him.

Leo leaned down and took a bite—the sweetness on his tongue was nothing compared to her sweet smile right now.
