Chapter 398
Chapter 398
Third Person's POV
Blake, too, wished they could keep kissing forever. But he was also worried that he might make it hard for her to breathe.
Catherine's pretty face flushed with pink. Blake reluctantly let her go.
"I'm going to take a shower. Wait for me!" Blake had a knack for easily unsettling her. Just that one word, "wait for me," seemed to encompass all the sweet nothings.
Catherine's heart fluttered slightly as she watched his figure disappear into the bathroom. She suddenly felt the bedroom was empty and didn't know what to do next.
At that moment, her phone rang, signaling a new message.
Catherine walked over and saw that the message was from Harley. She was taken aback for a moment but still picked up her phone to check it.
"Catherine, congratulations!" The message was simple, yet it was filled with his affection for her.
Catherine understood the weight behind those few words and sighed softly.
She remembered Harley from his younger days, the boy in white clothes under the sun, with a clean and innocent smile, always helping and protecting her.
Thinking of these things, Catherine felt a lump in her throat. She felt she still owed Harley for his deep feelings and long wait.
Blake opened the bathroom door and saw Catherine standing by the floor-to-ceiling window, staring outside with her phone in hand. His deep eyes darkened, and he strode over to her.
As if his suspicions were always spot-on, as soon as he reached her, he snatched the phone right out of her hand.
Catherine was startled and turned around to see that he had already come out of the shower, wrapped in a gray robe that made him look even taller and more imposing.
"You..." Catherine tried to grab the phone back, but it was clearly impossible. She could only stare at him helplessly.
Blake opened the phone and scrolled through the messages before holding it up to show her. "Still so naive. Why didn't you delete this message? You kept it just for me to find?"
Catherine didn't feel guilty at all. Hearing his accusation, she gave a wry smile. "He just sent a message to congratulate me. It's not worth making such a fuss over."
"What do you think?" Blake handed the phone back to her. "You were daydreaming about him. Don't I have the right to be jealous?"
"Blake, be reasonable, okay?" Catherine was both annoyed and amused. He was jealous over something like this. Wasn't he a bit too possessive?
"I can be reasonable about other things, but not this one!" Blake replied in a domineering tone, like a tyrant who brooked no argument.
Catherine had no choice but to walk over, stand on her tiptoes, and give him a quick peck on the cheek with her pink lips. "Alright, don't be angry. I was just thinking about some childhood memories."
"You grew up with him as a child, didn't you? You were thinking about him, weren't you?" Blake immediately connected the two things.
Catherine was speechless.
"Don't think about him!" Blake suddenly pulled her into his arms and said possessively, "You can only think about me!"
Catherine laughed out loud. How did she end up falling for such a domineering man? Was this self-inflicted suffering?
"Okay, I'll only think about you. You're right here in front of me. How can I think of anyone else?" Catherine was really helpless, but his domineering demeanor was somewhat charming.
"Then stop thinking and do something else in a different way!" Blake said, and with that, he picked her up in his arms.
For some reason, because of that text message, Blake was even more vigorous with her. Catherine was almost in tears and had to beg him several times before he finally let her go.
After Catherine fell into a deep sleep, Blake's large hand still possessively held her waist, not allowing her to move an inch.
Blake gazed at the sleeping Catherine, his heart calm. Only when she was peacefully by his side did his heart stop feeling so anxious and restless.
It was already the early hours of the morning.
Nick, however, was wide awake. He sat on the balcony with a bottle of wine. The cold wind blew, slightly sobering him up.
Although he knew something was going to happen tomorrow, he still couldn't sleep, his mind in turmoil.
He was like Richard, but not entirely. Sometimes, he hated himself for being as narrow-minded and ambitious as Richard, yet he couldn't shake off this innate personality. So, Nick was in a very bad mood.
Catherine was going to get engaged to Blake, and that was the root of Nick's restlessness.
Although he knew they were sleeping together and had long been intimate, he could still comfort himself by thinking they were just sleeping together, without a real marital relationship.
But now, they were getting engaged, which changed their relationship all at once, and Nick felt very upset.
"You won't be together. Definitely!" Nick sneered to himself in a cold voice. As long as that thing was exposed, they wouldn't be able to get engaged successfully.
