Chapter 380
Chapter 380
Third Person's POV
Sunny was enjoying her meal when Leo suddenly tossed his phone in front of her, startling her.
She picked up the phone and read the message, her face filled with confusion.
"Where did this come from? When did I agree to sign with their company?"
"The news says you verbally agreed," Leo said, his expression darkening.
Sunny thought carefully and realized the company name sounded familiar—it was the same company Melissa worked for.
Could it be that this news was related to Melissa's visit the other day?
Sunny's mind buzzed with panic.
Under Leo's intense gaze, she felt a chill run down her spine. Was he suspecting her of betraying him?
"Don't be mad. I can explain!" Sunny said hurriedly.
Leo didn't respond, but his eyes urged her to start explaining.
Sunny recounted the day Melissa had come to see her. Leo let out a cold snort. "They dare to poach someone from me? They must be tired of living. I've had my eye on that company for a while. Since they've provoked me first, I'll use this as an excuse to take them down."
Leo's tone was arrogant, but Sunny believed he had the power to back it up.
Leo's company was stable and strong, while the other company, though currently doing well, was no match for his. In the business world, the big fish eating the small fish was nothing new.
"Leo, can you not act impulsively? I know you're angry, but I don't think they meant any harm. They probably just wanted to stir up some publicity. Melissa is my classmate—we've been friends for four years. If she becomes the scapegoat for this, I'd feel terrible," Sunny pleaded softly, hoping he wouldn't destroy that company.
Leo's expression immediately soured. Just moments ago, he had complained that she wouldn't humble herself for love, but now she was pleading for someone else. How could he feel good about that?
"Sunny, it seems you value friendship more than me," Leo said bluntly, his displeasure written all over his face. He looked like he was waiting for her to comfort him.
Sunny was startled and quickly explained, "Of course not! I just think we should be decent people. Melissa brought me a lot of fruit that day, and I've been relying on it to get by. She's been kind to me, and when I was in trouble, she was the first to come and offer me a chance to start over. Friends like that are rare."
"You're adorably naive," Leo said, utterly exasperated by her explanation.
Didn't she realize that Melissa's visit was just a ploy to stir up publicity?
Sunny's smile froze. No one could stay cheerful after being called naive.
"Let's just forget about this. I'll call Melissa and tell her to stop the hype," Sunny continued to plead.
"Fine, but you have to agree to one thing," Leo said, seeing that she was determined to beg for mercy.
Sunny's face tensed. "What is it?"
"Tonight, you're on top," Leo said without lowering his voice, stating his demand outright.
Sunny had been listening seriously, but she hadn't expected him to bring up such an inappropriate topic. Her face flushed bright red, and she glared at him. "Can't you change the condition? Like, I'll make you breakfast for a month or something?"
"No, this is the condition. And it has to last for at least an hour," Leo said, enjoying the sight of her blushing. She looked utterly adorable.
Did he have to be so direct?
"Let's eat. The food's getting cold," Sunny quickly changed the subject.
"You have two minutes to decide whether to agree," Leo pressed, refusing to let it go.
Sunny lowered her head. "Fine, I agree."
Leo's lips curved into a satisfied smile.
Sunny was too embarrassed to look him in the eye, her mind filled with vivid images. It was so humiliating.
***At the Royal Packhouse
Richard had stayed for dinner, and Patricia had called Nick to come home as well. She had also called Leo, but he had refused outright, earning himself a scolding from Patricia. Feeling frustrated, Leo had decided to seek out Sunny for dinner instead.
Meanwhile, the atmosphere at the Royal Pack was tense, filled with unspoken tension.
Catherine had been keeping the children upstairs, but as dinner time approached, Patricia had come up several times to call them down. Reluctantly, Catherine led the children downstairs, holding their hands.
Richard was sitting on the sofa, chatting with Nick. Blake sat nearby, his legs crossed, exuding the air of a host. His presence was commanding, and it clearly made Richard and Nick uncomfortable.
Blake had every right to be confident—this was his home, and everything here belonged to him. As the host, he wasn't about to let his guests overshadow him.
As Catherine and the children came downstairs, Nick's gaze immediately locked onto her.
