Chapter 152: Shameless Boss
Chapter 152: Shameless Boss
Victor Hale and other high and mid-ranking staff members stood in stunned silence, their gazes pinned on Damian. The bare-chested Damian sat flanked by two gorgeous women feeding him fruits while his wives gently rubbed his legs with delicate hands.
Be it male or female staff, they could not tell what was more impressive, the girls or Damian.
This was their first time seeing him without a suit. He was nothing less than stunning and breathtaking, making it difficult to pick who to focus on.
It felt like all four of them were premium humans while the rest of them were like free trial plans.
"Oh my God, I’m glad you are doing much better now."
Everyone watched silently as Clara walked toward the bed, receiving warm greetings from the women as she approached Damian like it was normal.
Not just that, she checked his temperature with her hand, yet none of these girls reacted to this.
They were beginning to believe their eyes were playing tricks on them. Just who the hell is Damian?
And how the hell can a junior partner afford a place that dishes out bills in the hundreds of thousands?
Right now it felt like they knew nothing about this person.
"It’s nice to see you are doing well, Mr. Hill." Victor Hale approached first with a friendly smile that made Damian feel like throwing up. "I believe I have met your wife. Who are these two gorgeous damsels?"
Damian’s eyes narrowed upon hearing this. This shameless boss was making a move on Ruby and Racheal, just like he did during the summer associate dinner party.
At this point Damian was not even pissed, he was more impressed by the man’s dedication to his craft.
"They are mine." He responded simply, and the room fell silent.
Victor was taken aback and confused by the response. He glanced around only to notice all eyes were on him, but this did not break his courage.
"I don’t understand. I thought you are married." He countered.
Victor quickly shifted his attention to the girls, hoping for a reaction from them, but there was none. Not even Clara seemed disturbed by this piece of information.
Damian casually raised his hand to flash his ring before responding.
"Yes, but they are all mine." Damian responded with a straight face.
Victor was flabbergasted. Claiming other women in front of your wife are legitimate grounds for divorce. Is he fearless or just stupid?
"Is your wife aware of this?"
"Do you hear her complain?"
The room fell silent, but tension rose to its peak as Victor and Damian glared at each other, staring into each other’s eyes with unconcealed hatred.
Victor was furious. This was the kind of behavior that would make him fire a staff, but Damian was not a random staff. He was a junior partner and not just any junior partner, but the face of Blacksheep Firm all over the US. He was the talk of the town, the most expensive advertisement of Blacksheep Firm.
Damian’s new position was given to him by Victor’s father himself. Damian was not an asset he could afford to get rid of.
To make matters worse, Damian’s shooting and supposed statement were working in favor of Councilman Delaney. He was already calling in, showering Damian with praises. The man was even set to meet Damian tomorrow.
Also, with the shooting, Damian’s popularity had boosted to an all-time high. Social media accounts were being opened in his name, pictures and recordings of his previous court cases were circulating, fans were glazing, women were crushing, and much more.
His status was no different from a celebrity. What the world was waiting for was just the opportunity to see him again.
So how could he fire someone like that?
He was merely a managing partner out of pity. As an illegitimate son of the Hale family, Victor knew they would not hesitate to discard him if he got in the way of the company’s growth.
Victor inhaled deeply, silently calming the raging storm within him while wondering how his employee had grown so big that he, the employer, could not deal with him.
’Life is truly cruel to the powerless.’
Letting out a heavy sigh, Victor replaced the unpleasant look with a friendly smile and spoke like the tension never existed in the first place.
"After going through something this traumatic, you need to recover. Take two weeks off and rest." Victor did not miss the chance to shoot Damian’s girls a glance, hoping they would take note of his benevolence, but it achieved nothing.
He could only leave the room frustrated. Everyone took turns wishing Damian well while offering gifts and food. At this point he noticed a difference in the way they looked at him now.
Before getting shot, everyone’s gaze seemed just lustful and shallow. But now their eyes carried a look of respect in them.
Once they were all gone, Clara dropped the pretense and jumped into his arms, hugging him tight. She sobbed silently, remembering the feeling she experienced that day.
She had slept off unknowingly, only to wake up to a commotion that left her running down a dozen staircases like a mad woman. She could remember clawing her way through the crowd and nearly passing out at the sight of Damian lying in his blood.
She felt like her life was over, and she was the one begging for death. Honestly, Clara could not see a life without Damian. She would rather end it all than go through that.
Thankfully Hazel reached out to her that night after Damian’s condition was confirmed.
Damian did not know what to say. He could only gently caress her hair while letting her cry.
"I’m here. You don’t have to worry. About anything." He assured her in a soothing tone.
Still Clara held onto him, unwilling to let go. She was cared he would vanish if she let go. Just holding him was enough for her.
