My Lust System: I Inherited The Sin Of Lust And His Three Wives

Chapter 142: Saved By Linda

Chapter 142: Saved By Linda

Even with her reluctance, there was nothing Linda could do. Even blind, she knew she did not stand a chance against Corbin. Letting out a heavy sigh, she gently slid the ring off Damian’s hand, and Corbin frowned because he felt nothing.

Even with the ring removed, he sensed nothing from Damian, who lay on the floor. Linda was also stunned. She had begun drawing possible connections between Damian and the Prince of Hell, but now it seemed those thoughts were mere delusions.

"Happy now?" Her head snapped in his direction.

But Corbin did not speak. He was confused. Was his gut feeling wrong about this devilishly handsome lawyer?

"I’m healing him. We can’t wait much longer!" Linda snapped at the dazed Corbin, who still maintained his silence.

What he did not know was that the Abyss’s power had not only completely erased Duke Haborym, it had also erased Damian’s demonic presence as well. That was why after his fight with Bathin there had been no trace of either him or Bathin, forcing every side that came to the town to start searching blindly.

This was also the case now. His entire presence had vanished, and he felt empty and normal like any other human they had met. However, there was one more factor they could check, and that was why he did not stop Linda from attempting to heal him.

Divine aura and demonic aura could not exist in the same body. If Linda healed him and he possessed demonic aura, there would be an immediate adverse reaction.

"He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds." Linda whispered with her hands placed over his bloodied wound.

Damian began coughing up blood as his body responded positively to the healing. Linda did not intend to heal him completely, only enough for him to survive. Members of the Order of Moses were not allowed to interfere with events happening in the real world, so when they encountered situations like this, they simply ensured the person survived.

"I was wrong?" Corbin’s frown relaxed when he felt Linda’s divine aura but no demonic aura from Damian.

If he were truly a demon, he would have rejected her healing. However, what he did not know was that Damian’s demonic force was currently at zero. Even his demonic heart had stopped beating due to overexertion from the last fight. It was purely by coincidence that he was in the perfect condition to evade Corbin’s suspicion.

Linda shot him the ’I told you so’ look, though she did not say it aloud.

"So who do you think did it?" she asked, and Corbin shook his head.

"He’s a lawyer who exposed and got involved in a Black Cartel case. I’m sure there are a few people who want him dead, and they are probably black." Corbin shrugged.

"Racist!" Linda shot back, though she did not think his analogy was entirely off point.

This was just an occupational hazard, just like what had happened to Corbin and Gilbert.

"I guess every occupation does come with its own risks." She muttered under her breath with a sigh.

While she had not participated in the fight, just witnessing that scale of battle left her mentally exhausted. She had always wanted to see Corbin’s limit, and now she had seen it, along with something even greater. Only now did she realize how vast the difference between an angel and an archangel truly was.

"On the way back to the Vatican, help me draft out a report on my battle with the Duke of Hell and also include the part the Prince played. The Pope needs to know what is happening here and why." Corbin suddenly brought up the topic, and Linda’s head snapped in his direction, shock written all over her expression.

She had forgotten they were here on assignment, and they had finally completed it. Their mission had been to find out the reason behind the spiritual disturbance in Chicago and wipe out the demonic activities in the area.

Duke Haborym was dead, and they had also discovered that the reason the Duke was here was because of the Prince of Hell, who still identified as a human.

"What do you think the Pope would do when he finds out the Third Prince of Hell lives in Chicago?" she asked.

Corbin’s brows tightened as he pondered for a moment. As someone who had been in close communication with the Pope since he was a child, he understood the man better than most of the cardinals.

"He will send a team here to kill him. In the end, the Prince of Hell is still a demon. You saw how he killed the Duke of Hell. If he ever tips over to the other side, he will be difficult to deal with, so it is better he is gone now."

The response was expected, but it was still disappointing for Linda. Evil must be purged without prejudice or sentiment. That was the teaching drilled into them in the Order of Moses, so it should not have been surprising that they adhered to it.

When she had stopped the excessive bleeding and was certain Damian was going to be okay, Linda rose to her feet, but her eyes never left his beautiful face, now sleeping peacefully. She felt a strange urge to lean in for a kiss for all the work she had done, but of course she could not do that here.

She returned to Corbin’s side, helping him walk as they left the underground parking lot, leaving behind three stunned wives who stared at their husband in shock.

Did they just hear those priests wrong?

Damian killed Duke Haborym?!

When did it happen?

Where did he attack?

How the hell did he come in contact with Damian?

And most importantly, if Damian killed Duke Haborym, who did this to him?

They ran over to his side surrounding him. Now his life was out of danger, they could finally help him without altering his fate. However before they could act, more approaching footsteps could be heard.

More people were approaching....
