Chapter 9: Delegation of Power

As the starlight gradually faded, Apollo was still immersed in the overwhelming impact of the vast information.

But the dejection and shame that had once filled his eyes had already been replaced by the light of hope.

At this moment, he had once again become, in the eyes of the tribe, the omnipotent chieftain and priest favored by the god.

He strode down from the altar and found his eldest son En, who was worrying over controlling reproduction.

“En!”

Apollo excitedly grasped his son’s shoulders.

“The god has taught me ‘farming’ and ‘animal husbandry’!”

“From now on, we will never have to worry about lacking food again! The tribe can continue to grow!”

Looking at the rekindled fire in his father’s eyes, En could not help but feel a surge of strong envy and a deeply hidden longing.

He envied his father’s ability to easily receive the god’s guidance and blessings.

And he, as the eldest son, was merely a slightly stronger… ordinary person.

If…

If he too could receive the god’s blessing, even just a little, how wonderful that would be…

This thought, like a seed, quietly fell into his heart.

---

At dawn, the tribespeople were gathered in the open space around the altar.

On the altar, Apollo stood tall, holding a wooden staff.

His three sons, including En, stood respectfully below, looking up at their father.

At this moment, the crowd murmured among themselves. The tribe had always relied on hunting and gathering, and everyone knew that it was becoming harder and harder for the hunting team to catch prey.

The nearby animals had long since been hunted to exhaustion.

To catch more prey now, they would have to travel farther.

But doing so would consume too much time on the journey, greatly reducing the time available for hunting.

“Silence.”

Apollo’s voice was not loud, yet it clearly spread across the entire square, instantly suppressing all noise.

“The hunting team is bringing back less and less prey, and winter is drawing closer.”

“And without sufficient food, many will not survive this winter.”

As Apollo spoke slowly, a trace of anxiety flashed in everyone’s eyes.

But they believed in Apollo.

Because Apollo was the one chosen by the god.

“However!”

Apollo’s voice suddenly rose, filled with unquestionable power and devotion.

“Our god, the ruler of the stars and destiny, is great and merciful!”

He raised the wooden staff high, pointing toward the sky, as if invoking an unseen presence.

“He chose me as his representative in this world, to receive his endless blessings!”

“And just last night, the god once again bestowed revelation! He taught me how to allow the tribe to forever bid farewell to hunger!”

He swept his gaze across the tense and expectant faces below, announcing word by word:

“From today onward! We will follow the god’s guidance and learn to ‘farm’ crops and ‘raise’ livestock!”

“We will no longer rely on unstable hunting!”

“We will sow the god’s blessings into the earth, planting hope in the soil, and harvest abundance within enclosures!”

“I promise you—by following the divine will, the tribe will completely escape hunger! Not a single person will ever starve due to lack of food again!”

As his impassioned words fell, along with the swing of the wooden staff that seemed to carry divine power—

The crowd fell into a deathly silence at first.

Then, an earth-shaking cheer erupted!

“Apollo!”

“The one chosen by the god!”

“O great Lord of the Stars!”

“Praise be to you, great god!”

This time, everyone truly felt the greatness of the god.

……

Apollo ventured deep into the forest beyond the tribe. Following the god’s guidance, he found suitable seeds.

He brought these seeds of hope back to the tribe.

Soon, on flat land near a water source,

plots of farmland were opened up, and the dark soil radiated vitality under the sunlight.

When everything was ready, Apollo stood upon the ridge of the fields about to be sown, his gaze sweeping over his children beside him.

Their eyes all shone with longing, hoping to be chosen by their father—by the god.

Apollo’s gaze paused briefly on his eldest son En. En straightened his back, his eyes filled with barely restrained anticipation.

However, Apollo’s gaze ultimately passed over him and fell upon his second son, Wa.

He solemnly placed the bag of precious seeds into Wa’s hands.

“From today onward.”

“The tribe’s farming affairs will be under your responsibility.”

“Wa, do not fail the god’s trust.”

Wa’s face instantly burst with immense joy.

He knelt down excitedly, holding the seeds high with both hands, and solemnly swore:

“I, Wa, swear upon my life that I will not fail the god’s trust!”

Wa became the leader of the tribe’s farming team.

Many members of the former hunting team joined Wa’s group.

From this moment on, En’s influence and authority within the tribe were invisibly diminished.

When the seeds were buried in the soil, when sprouts broke through the earth, growing strong under sunlight and rain, and finally bore fruit—

The entire tribe erupted with excitement!

They no longer had only hunting as a way to obtain food!

This method of “creating” food from the land was safe, stable, and seemed to contain endless magic!

Thus, in everyone’s eyes, Wa replaced En in status.

……

Next, Apollo took his youngest daughter Ya and set out to find suitable animals for husbandry.

After a year of observation, they selected three types of animals and brought them back to the tribe.

Their appearance resembled chickens, ducks, and pigs from the real world, though they were larger in size.

Apollo also announced that his youngest daughter Ya would be responsible for the tribe’s future animal husbandry.

From this point on, the women of the tribe regained the authority they had held in even earlier times.

A large number of women followed Ya, beginning to learn how to care for these domesticated animals.

They curiously observed their habits.

Following the experience summarized by Apollo and Ya, they carefully fed and tended to them.

They watched as these animals began to reproduce, becoming more and more numerous.

It was as if they could replicate endlessly, continuously increasing.

In the eyes of the people, animal husbandry, like farming, contained infinite mysteries—it was a power and authority belonging to the god.

And the god had entrusted this power to them!

The god had changed their long-standing way of survival through hunting.

He had granted them a more stable and hopeful future!

Everyone cheered for this—they had completely freed themselves from the burden of food.

……

With food once again abundant, the tribe stabilized and continued to grow and develop.

A population of one thousand was not their limit—Apollo wanted to create a city of ten thousand people!

Yes, a city.

As Apollo stood on the altar, looking over the tribe, a word suddenly surfaced in his mind—city!

Just like before, he inexplicably understood the meaning contained within this word.
