My Kingdom Building Done Right!

Chapter 97: You Are A Monster

Chapter 97: You Are A Monster

Gundar had traveled nonstop to warn Leone about the upcoming danger as soon as possible.

But when he neared Grimjaw Mountain, his eyes caught a view that made him gasp in shock.

A fortress he had not seen before now stood at the center of the mountain. For a brief moment, the old shaman thought his giant hawk, Soren, had brought him to the wrong place.

Actually, Gundar wasn’t the only one confused. Even the giant hawk thought it made a wrong turn somewhere and ended up in a place that only looked similar to Grimjaw Mountain.

But the two soon noticed the familiar barracks at the base of the mountain, and they didn’t hesitate to descend to it.

Soren let out a loud screech to inform everyone of its arrival, prompting everyone to look up at the sky in response.

When Soren landed on the ground, Leone, Ulric, Yuni, Kael, and Jason, as well as the rest of their tribe members, greeted the old shaman.

""Greetings, Great Uncle."" Leone, Ulric, and Yuni greeted him at the same time.

""Greetings, Great Shaman!"" The other tribe members also greeted Gundar.

The old shaman nodded before slowly dismounting from his flying mount.

"Leone, I have come to warn you. The Bloodtusk Tribe is currently gathering people to wage war against you," Gundar said in a solemn tone.

"I know, Great Uncle," Leone replied. "From the moment the representatives have left, we have resolved ourselves to go to war with them."

"You almost gave me a heart attack when I received the news from my subordinate in the Grimhowl Tribe." Gundar sighed. "Do you know how worried I was when I heard you killed people?"

"I’m sorry, Great Uncle. I did my best to endure, but they were asking for too much." Leone apologized.

"It’s already done, so there’s nothing we can do about it. However, there is a question I’d like to ask you right now." Gundar eyed the young man.

Leone nodded. "Ask away, Great Uncle."

The old man then raised his hand and pointed at their newly built fortress.

"...That fortress, how many days did it take for you to build it?" Gundar asked. He had seen a glimpse of Leone’s powers when he gave the young man a trial. But that didn’t mean he expected him to be capable of building a fortress on his own!

"Uncle, do you want to hear the truth, or do you want to hear the answer you want to hear?" Leone asked in a teasing tone.

"I want to hear both," Gundar replied. "Give me the answer that I want to hear."

Leone nodded in understanding. "We just finished building the fortress this morning."

Gundar took in a deep breath as he counted the days that passed after the representatives of the middle-ranked tribes left the mountain.

Since they dared to declare war against Leone and did not amass an army numbering over ten thousand, it was safe to say that the fortress hadn’t been there during the tribute collection.

But even if he was to assume that Leone and his people had built the fortress right after the representatives left, then that meant construction only took eight to nine days!

Building a fortress in such a short time? That was impossible!

"Hah..." Gundar took in another deep breath to calm himself down. "Now, tell me the truth. How long did you build this fortress? Don’t worry, I can take it!"

"Less than ten minutes," Leone replied.

"Um?" Gundar blinked. "Sorry, I didn’t hear you properly."

The old man walked closer and even crouched down to make sure that he wouldn’t miss a single word from Leone’s answer.

"I built this fortress in less than ten minutes, Great Uncle," Leone repeated with an amused look on his face.

Gundar stared at the young man in disbelief before shifting his attention toward Yuni.

The young lady nodded her head, confirming the truth of Leone’s words. Still not convinced, he turned to look at Ulric, who also nodded his head in confirmation.

"By the Spirits of the Land..." Gundar muttered. "You are a monster."

Building a fortress in less than ten minutes?! If Leone really had this power, any of the high-ranking tribes would kill to have him as their retainer! In fact, he would be given the VIP treatment wherever he went!

"So this is the reason why you dared to kill the representative of the Bloodtusk Tribe." Gundar shook his head helplessly. "I thought I already have a good grasp of your abilities, but it seems that I have still underestimated you."

Truth be told, Gundar was tempted to single-handedly force the Bloodtusk Tribe and their allies to retreat.

But after seeing this fortress, he immediately tossed this plan aside. The old man even pitied the Bloodtusk Tribe, as well as the Darkmane Tribe for going against the Chieftain of the Aslan Tribe, whose powers surpassed common logic.

Gundar had come to save Leone’s, Ulric’s, and Yuni’s lives if they were truly in any danger.

But after taking a good look at the fortress, he understood that the ones who needed saving weren’t Leone and his tribe.

The ones who’d likely suffer were Bloodtusk Tribe and its allies, who were very eager to head to Grimjaw Mountain, thinking they would have an easy victory over the arrogant tribe who dared to defy them!

’After this war is over, I must take Leone to meet Hagen,’ Gundar thought. ’No matter what, the Aslan Tribe must become our allies. Even if we have to become their sponsor!’

The old shaman told Leone that his tribe only needed time in order to grow.

Although he was still right, he had a feeling that the young man wouldn’t take a long time to truly shine in the Borderlands and challenge the powers that held it with an iron grip.

"Great Uncle, have you eaten lunch yet?" Leone asked.

"Not yet," Gundar admitted.

He had been flying nonstop and had only been eating beef jerkies from his pouch to stave off hunger.

"Then please join us for lunch," Leone invited. "I have many questions to ask you, especially about the tribes about to attack us."

Gundar smiled faintly before nodding in agreement. Since he was already here, then he might as well tell Leone a little bit about the tribes that would soon experience firsthand just what kind of monster they were dealing with.
