Chapter 378 378: See You Later
Chapter 378 378: See You Later
Shaking the clinging Iris off after getting the answer he needed, Christian made his way out into the garden.
There, he found an unexpected pairing, Anastasia and Olivia.
One sat calmly, sipping what looked like tea. The other stood nearby, tense.
The moment he appeared, both noticed him. Anastasia didn't react, continuing to sip her tea as if he didn't exist. Olivia, on the other hand, moved instantly.
She walked straight toward him, her expression brightening just enough to betray relief, like someone spotting a lifeline.
She clearly intended to just stand beside him. But, Christian didn't allow that. The moment she got close, his arm wrapped around her waist, pulling her in.
"Tell me…" he murmured near her ear, his voice not lowered in the slightest, making sure the other listener heard every word. "Is she bullying you?"
"What are you talking about? Of course—" Olivia's protest died instantly when she felt his hand boldly grope her ass.
Why is he always like this… every single time we meet?
Embarrassment flooded her cheeks, and she squirmed in his hold, trying to push away.
…But it lacked conviction.
Both Anastasia, watching silently, and Christian, who continued kneading her soft curves with open enjoyment, saw through it easily.
Even if his lust had been temporarily sated, Christian had no intention of holding back with Olivia. His gaze lingered on her lips for a brief moment, soft and inviting, before he leaned in, intent on taking them again.
Yet—
"That kiss was an exception," Olivia said sharply, turning her head just in time. "Don't ever assume you can do it again."
Christian paused, clearly amused.
His eyes drifted instead to her neck, exposed, delicate, and for a brief second, he wondered if she was doing it on purpose.
Then he leaned in anyway.
His lips found her neck.
"Ah—"
The sound slipped out of her before she could stop it. Between his hand and his mouth, her body reacted faster than her pride.
And that—
That was enough.
"You horny fucker," Anastasia's voice cut in, cold and sharp. "I barely pulled you off the other two and you're already jumping on another? Do you want to die?"
She hadn't even released her pressure.
And yet, Christian stopped.
Not because he wanted to. But because he understood exactly where the line was.
Clicking his tongue lightly, he pulled back, his mouth leaving Olivia at last, though his arm remained wrapped around her, keeping her close.
For now, at least, the teasing ended there.
"Hahaha, sorry. I couldn't hold myself."
Still holding the young girl in his arms, his gaze moved between the two as he asked,
"Anyway, what were you two talking about?"
Anastasia, seemingly still angry, didn't reply. Olivia, meanwhile, steadied her breathing, then, after stealing a brief glance at the other, answered.
"We were talking about you."
"Oh?"
"She was curious about your past, so I told her about your school days."
"You didn't even know me back then, though?"
"Well, even if only briefly, I still saw you back then… a horny teenager who hadn't even touched essence, pursuing the mother of your classmate."
Christian, feigning hurt, said, "Is that really your impression of me?"
Olivia didn't seem to care about his reaction and simply continued.
"Anyway, putting your taste in women aside, your sudden change back then is still shocking…" She met his gaze, her expression turning quite serious. "Really, how did you do it?"
The question no one asked.
Neither Annabelle nor Eva. They had both stopped probing into his secret long ago.
Olivia too had never tried to pry further into his secrets. Yet unexpectedly, now, at this moment, she asked it.
Was it because she suddenly felt too close to him after his teasing?
Christian smiled as he said, "Didn't I say before? It's a special ability."
"But is a special ability really able to make this kind of transformation?"
"Why not?" Christian replied with a faint, mischievous smile, his fingers idly brushing against her waist.
Olivia pouted slightly, but didn't press further.
She didn't have a special ability herself, but she knew others who did. Furthermore, there was an entire subject in the Academy dedicated solely to explaining special abilities.
So she had long known that a special ability, even an exceptionally strong one, couldn't be the sole reason for his transformation.
And now, from his tone, from that casual deflection that didn't quite hide anything, it was clear there was more to it… and that he had no intention of saying it.
She confirmed it silently.
Giving him a meaningful look, she finally wriggled her way out of his arms, the warmth of his hold lingering for a brief second longer before it faded.
"Anyway, I wanted to catch up with you…" she began, smoothing her clothes lightly, her voice softening, "but I'm already late heading back to the Academy. At least I got to see you before I leave."
Her words flowed naturally now, regret, satisfaction, and a quiet reluctance mixed together.
She clearly intended to leave immediately. And Christian, finding no fault in that, simply smiled.
"Don't worry. We're in the same city now," he said, his tone relaxed. "Next time, I'll come visit you."
Those words visibly lifted Olivia's mood. A light hum escaped her lips as she nodded, her steps gaining a subtle bounce as she turned to go.
She had only taken a single step.
Before she could take another, Christian suddenly caught her wrist and pulled her back, her back meeting his chest in a soft, startled motion.
She didn't have time to voice any protest. His free hand slid into her hair, tilting her head toward him with effortless control. Then his lips pressed firmly against hers in a bold kiss… not deep or invasive, but unmistakably claiming
For a brief moment, the world seemed to still, the distant hum of the city, the quiet air around them, everything fading into that single point of contact.
When he finally pulled back, a teasing smirk played on his lips.
"See you later."
Christian had been determined to get his second kiss, and in the end, Olivia couldn't stop him.
Yet she didn't seem to mind nearly as much as she pretended.
Her steps were light as she turned and walked away, almost floating. Her fingers brushed absentmindedly against her lips, as if trying to confirm the lingering warmth, a small, secret smile playing at the corners of her mouth.
She wasn't the least bit displeased by his forcefulness.
