Chapter 476: No Way, You Lost?
Chapter 476: No Way, You Lost?
"Damn it!"
Seeing Chen Baixiang’s reaction, Tang Fei could only grit his teeth. This time, however, he didn’t dare make a move. If Yang Qi beat him up again, he wouldn’t be able to take it. Although Yang Qi seemed like an ordinary person when he fought, his skill was on par with a special forces operative. Tang Fei knew he couldn’t win.
"Finish him off!"
"Go for it!"
Suddenly, the crowd erupted. Everyone turned to see a muscular man jump onto the ring. The man was tall, probably close to two meters, and his physique was impressive. One could tell he had undergone special training. Although he wasn’t a Martial Artist, he was clearly skilled in combat sports.
The atmosphere was electric. Everyone was on their feet, shouting and screaming as if they’d gone mad.
A brawny fighter versus a slender Death Fighter. This looked like a total mismatch—a chance to win some easy money.
The big screen displayed the fighter’s profile. He had indeed participated in Western fighting competitions and was a three-time consecutive champion. This guy was clearly no pushover.
"Yang Qi, they always take bets on duels like this. Don’t you want to try your luck? You just won a million from me; maybe you can double it. Look, the current odds for the fighter are one-to-two, while the Champion is at one-to-five! Trust me, bet on the Champion. It’s a guaranteed win," Tang Fei said with a smile.
"So you’re an expert on this, Tang Fei?" Yang Qi asked with a smile of his own.
"Of course, I am. I come here almost every year and win a lot. Stick with me, you can’t go wrong!" Tang Fei goaded him.
"Alright. Since you’re so sure, I’ll bet on the Champion to win. The money was a freebie, anyway. It’s no big deal if I lose it," Yang Qi said with a laugh.
"Hahaha, that’s the spirit!" Tang Fei chuckled, a hint of cunning in his eyes. He then shot a look at Jiang Shan and the others, suggesting they go to the restroom. The entire group got up and left.
Yang Qi watched their backs and smiled.
"Mr. Yang, Tang Fei is obviously trying to trick you," Chen Baixiang said helplessly. "The house is clearly setting a trap, deliberately making people bet on the Death Fighter. How could you fall for it?"
"Don’t worry, he’ll win," Yang Qi said with a smile. "That fighter seems formidable, but he’s never killed anyone. He competes in regulated sports, with rules! In a real deathmatch, just you watch, that Death Fighter will definitely win."
"I see!" Chen Baixiang nodded. "I didn’t expect Tang Fei to have such insight."
"Heh, insight? Just watch. He definitely bet on the fighter. You weren’t wrong about one thing—that kid really wants to screw me over," Yang Qi laughed.
「Elsewhere, Tang Fei and his group gathered.」
"Tang Fei, you really are devious," Yagyu Youya said with a smile. "How could that Death Fighter possibly win? It’s clearly a trap set by the house. The fighter will almost certainly win this match. That million Yang Qi just pocketed is about to fly the coop!"
"He deserves it!" Tang Fei said coldly. "That kid is a surprisingly good fighter. Brother Yagyu, you’re probably the only one who can handle him. I’ll let him suffer a bit first. After the show, Brother Yagyu, I’ll need your help to teach this guy a proper lesson!"
"Don’t worry, Tang Fei, leave it to me," Yagyu Youya nodded. "No matter how skilled an ordinary person is, they are leagues below someone like me who has trained in karate."
Having settled on their plan, each of them bet one million on the fighter and then returned to their seats.
"What a coincidence, all of you going to the restroom together. You must be very close," Yang Qi said with a smile.
"Yang Qi, I was just thinking, maybe you should have bet on the fighter. I think that Death Fighter might actually lose," Tang Fei said with a sinister grin.
By this point, betting had closed, so Yang Qi couldn’t change his bet even if he wanted to. Tang Fei was obviously saying this now just to get under his skin.
"Ah, no way! Tang Fei, didn’t you just say you were confident in the Death Fighter? My one million..." Yang Qi feigned a sigh.
"Yang Qi, are you really that broke now? You can’t even afford to lose a million?" Jiang Shan said disdainfully.
Yang Qi sighed again. "Yes, if I lose this, I’ll be penniless. Not like you all. Losing a million or so is probably nothing to you, right?"
Tang Fei and the others looked at each other and burst into laughter. How could they lose? They had bet on the fighter.
The fight began, but it wasn’t as spectacular as one might imagine. While the fighter was still striking a pose, the Death Fighter launched his attack, his blade slicing through the fighter’s throat.
The fighter clutched his neck, staggered backward several steps, and fell to the ground with a thud.
Dead!
The fight was over in an instant. This was the result of one man fighting for his life and the other for money.
The venue fell utterly silent. No one had expected this outcome. After all, most people had bet on the fighter; even if he were to lose, it shouldn’t have been so swift.
Tang Fei and his friends felt like they were going to vomit blood. The five of them had each bet a million, a total of five million, and it had all gone down the drain just like that.
"Awesome, I won! Tang Fei, you really have a good eye! Tell me who to bet on next time; I’ll still follow your advice!" Yang Qi deliberately crowed, ignoring the atmosphere.
Tang Fei nearly coughed up blood again. Damn it, he’s really twisting the knife!
"This has to be fake, right? It must be rigged!" Jiang Shan said subconsciously.
"Yeah! That was a three-time champion of the Western Fighting Competition! How could he lose to some mere Death Fighter? Impossible!" Yagyu Youya was getting frantic too.
"It can’t be fake!" Tang Fei shook his head. "Jin Zizhen is very protective of his reputation. Besides, would he really use a man’s life to rig a fight? Do you think that’s possible? That fighter died on the spot!"
"Hmm, why do you all look so upset?" Yang Qi asked curiously. "Ah, no way... surely not. Tang Fei, you didn’t actually bet on the fighter, did you? Oh my god, how much did you lose?"
"Hmph, it’s just the price of a car. It’s no big deal!" Tang Fei snorted, trying his best to remain calm. Yang Qi’s expression is so damn punchable! And the worst part is, I can’t even beat him. How humiliating! I tried to cheat Yang Qi, but instead, he made a fortune, turning one million into five million! Meanwhile, we lost five million. This joke has gone way too far.
The Death Fighter left the ring, and a new one took his place.
This new Death Fighter was different from the last. He was tall, seemingly well-nourished, and his muscles were well-developed, exuding a terrifying aura.
The profile showed that before his capture, this Death Fighter had practiced Martial Arts and was a Martial Artist!
Soon, a challenger entered the ring. This time, the challenger was a female—a girl of about sixteen or seventeen. According to her profile, she was a tourist, and her occupation was listed as a college student.
