Chapter 464 A Blackout
Chapter 464 A Blackout
After being slapped, Lin Qiang cried out in grievance, "Manager Liu, you hit the wrong person! You’re supposed to hit him, not me!"
"I’m hitting you, you blind, worthless fool!" As Manager Liu spoke, he slapped Lin Qiang across the face again.
These two had nearly given him a heart attack! To think he almost used a stun baton on the real chairman of the National Medicine Association. If he had, his life would be over!
"Manager Liu, what are you doing?" Lin Heng was furious. You have to consider the master before you beat his dog. How could he tolerate the head of security hitting his nephew right in front of him?
"What am I doing? Lin Heng, you’re finished! Not only did you frame the chairman of the National Medicine Association, but you also incited your nephew to attack him. I’d like to see how you’re going to explain this to Chairman Chen and Chairman Yao!" Manager Liu roared.
Lin Heng was no fool. He understood immediately. A violent shudder ran through him, a chill spreading through his body as if he’d been tossed into an ice cellar. His legs began to tremble uncontrollably. "Manager Liu, you can’t be mistaken, can you? How could he possibly be the chairman of the National Medicine Association?"
"He’s not mistaken!" By this time, Yao Ran had arrived, his face as dark as the bottom of a pot.
After hearing what had happened, he had rushed over. Seeing a crowd gathered outside the chairman’s office made him livid.
"Manager Liu, what kind of job are you doing? Why are so many people loitering here during work hours? If a single hair on the chairman’s head is harmed, I’ll hold you responsible!" Yao Ran bellowed.
Manager Liu trembled with fear, nearly collapsing on the spot. He quickly tried to explain, "I... I... Manager Lin called to say someone was impersonating the chairman, so I came to investigate!"
"Investigate what? Couldn’t you have just called me? Would it have killed you to ask?" Yao Ran shouted. "Do you have no regard for Chairman Chen and me? Is Lin Heng the only one you listen to? If Lin Heng told you to jump off a cliff, would you do it? What do you think this place is?"
Hearing Yao Ran’s words, Manager Liu nearly fell to his knees, stammering incoherently, "I... I was wrong! We were reckless! Please, punish me, sir! I’ll apologize to the chairman right now!" His forehead was slick with cold sweat, his hair plastered to his scalp.
"You’re really something else! As head of security, I guess you’ve decided you don’t want this job anymore, is that it? You dare to interrogate and even strike the chairman. Just how many heads do you think you have?" Yao Ran was still fuming, continuing his merciless tirade.
THUMP!
Manager Liu dropped to his knees before Yang Qi. "Chairman, Chairman, I beg you, please forgive me this once! I was just too eager to prove myself, and I deserve to be punished. I swear it will never happen again. Please, spare me!"
Yang Qi glanced at Yao Ran and said, "Let it go. The kid’s sharp enough. Give him another chance. Don’t fire him, just dock his pay for a month. Are you okay with that?" he asked, looking at Manager Liu.
"More than okay! I’m completely okay with it! Chairman, I will never forget your immense kindness," Manager Liu kowtowed repeatedly. He was thankful he’d seen the light quickly and dropped his ugly attitude; otherwise, he never would have escaped today’s disaster. He was truly grateful; he’d almost lost his job. The chairman really is a man of great magnanimity.
"Chairman Yang, if you ever need me for anything, just give the word. I’d climb a mountain of swords or plunge into a sea of fire for you. If I ever hesitate, then I’m a son of a bitch," he swore loudly.
Yang Qi ignored him and turned to face Lin Heng.
"Manager Liu’s arrival could be considered part of his duty. But you, Lin Heng, you conspired with others to slander and even try to attack me. I told you who I was multiple times and even told you to call and confirm. Not only did you refuse, but you became even more aggressive. Now, you tell me, how should we handle this?" Yang Qi asked coldly.
"Chairman Yang," Yao Ran interjected, "we’ve been planning to get rid of this Lin Heng for a long time. He has repeatedly conspired with others to assault members of the public who come to the National Medicine Association on business. His actions have had a terrible impact and have damaged the association’s reputation. Therefore, I propose we fire Lin Heng, Lin Qiang, and the others, and hand them over to the Heavenly Supervision Hall for investigation. What do you think?"
"I think that’s an excellent idea," Yang Qi nodded.
Suddenly, Lin Heng’s vision went black. His breathing grew shallow, and he collapsed to the ground, unconscious.
Yang Qi smiled, walked over, and revived him with a single needle prick.
The awakened Lin Heng wailed and begged for mercy, but Yang Qi’s mind was made up.
It wasn’t just because Lin Heng had provoked him. More importantly, Lin Heng had been a constant wrongdoer. Yao Ran was merely using this incident as an opportunity to finally oust him.
Men from the Heavenly Supervision Hall arrived quickly and took Lin Heng, Lin Qiang, and the others away.
In truth, before coming to the National Medicine Association, he had carefully investigated its personnel. He could overlook minor faults as long as the person was willing to change. After all, to err is human. Manager Liu, for example, was sometimes a bit overbearing, but he was a good person for the most part.
Lin Heng was different. He used his power in the human resources department to turn the National Medicine Association into a toxic mess. A man like that had never done a single decent thing. Being taken to the Heavenly Supervision Hall was only the beginning; it was only a matter of time before all his crimes were brought to light.
The onlookers at the door had already vanished, afraid of being implicated. But they seemed unaware of Yang Qi’s photographic memory. Everything they had said or done before, as well as everything they had done since joining the National Medicine Association—none of it would escape him. Those with a clear conscience had nothing to fear. But for those who had done wrong, their time was likely up.
"Alright, you’re not needed here anymore. Get back to work," Yang Qi said with a wave of his hand. Manager Liu and the others departed hastily, as if granted a pardon.
Yao Ran exchanged a few more words with Yang Qi, received his new assignments, and left. Yang Qi intended to use this opportunity to clean house, giving Yao Ran a full list of who to fire and who to penalize.
Not ten minutes after Yao Ran had gone, a group of people burst into the chairman’s office.
Yang Qi looked up, intrigued. It was Chen Hua and his mother, and they had brought a crowd with them. They must have snuck in while the security team was preoccupied.
"Brother-in-law, it was these two bastards! They’re the ones who hit me and my son! You have to get revenge for us!" Chen Hua’s mother shrieked, pointing a finger at Yang Qi and Chen Baixiang.
Her brother-in-law was, of course, Chen Hua’s uncle. He was a menacing figure covered in tattoos and clearly looked like trouble. He was obviously a street thug.
"Kid, you’ve got some real nerve, daring to lay hands on my sister-in-law and my nephew," the tattooed man roared, spittle flying from his mouth. "You must have a death wish!"
"Who are you people? This is the chairman’s office of the National Medicine Association!" Chen Baixiang reminded them sharply.
