Chapter 260 - 128: Possessiveness [First Update]
Looking at Gu Qingqing and Jun Wu, Lu Ying was very surprised. He hadn’t expected to encounter them here, especially seeing the intimate gestures between them, causing a mix of surprise and a type of anger he himself hadn’t realized. He just stared at Gu Qingqing and Jun Wu, his face livid, exuding a cold aura, which was most noticeably felt by Luo Wenxi, who stood beside him.
She looked up at Lu Ying and saw him glaring at a spot with an unsightly expression. Hastily, she followed his gaze; seeing so many people in that direction, she immediately spotted Gu Qingqing and Jun Wu. It wasn’t just because she knew them, but because their outstanding appearance and charisma made them stand out in the crowd, noticeable by anyone at a glance.
After watching the contest, Luo Wenxi also realized their identities. One is the favorite disciple of the Spirit Fox Saint Master, and the other is the Saint Heir of Yunlan Sacred Land. Both are individuals she can’t afford to provoke, or she wouldn’t think about leaving her sect ever again!
Before meeting them, Luo Wenxi was quite eager to meet the two. After all, one was chosen as a disciple by the Spirit Fox Saint Master in the Lower Realm and was doted upon by her five senior brothers, enough to prove her capabilities. The other, being the only son of the Yunlan Saint Master, a future Saint Master, and an Innate Daoist Body, she often heard from others that Jun Wu was favored by the Heavenly Dao. What’s more, he was rumored to be exceptionally handsome and indifferent to women, making him the perfect Daoist partner for many women.
But then she met Lu Ying and developed feelings for him, while Gu Qingqing and Jun Wu didn’t treat Lu Ying kindly, naturally making Luo Wenxi dislike them.
Like Lu Ying, she didn’t expect to see the two here. Moreover, seeing them act intimately, she thought they might have mutual feelings, causing a slight delight within her, but recalling Lu Ying’s attitude towards Gu Qingqing, she couldn’t stay happy, especially since she realized why Lu Ying was angry.
"Brother Lu, did you see Miss Gu and Saint Son Jun?" Luo Wenxi turned to him, acting as if she hadn’t noticed Lu Ying’s unsightly expression, and continued, "Looking at the way they are, they must have mutual feelings now. Previously, Saint Son Jun seemed very fond of Miss Gu; presumably, they are here together for a leisurely outing."
Luo Wenxi spoke while observing Lu Ying’s reactions. His face remained dark until she finished speaking, and then Lu Ying suddenly turned his head, looking at her with a gaze that felt alien to her—a cold and murderous gaze that made Luo Wenxi freeze in place.
Of course, that gaze lasted only a fraction of a second before Lu Ying returned to normal, but the gentle smile on his face vanished.
"Xixi, I have some matters to attend to. Please go back to the inn and wait for me; I’ll be back shortly." Lu Ying forcibly suppressed his anger, speaking stiffly to Luo Wenxi, and before she could respond, he started walking toward Gu Qingqing and Jun Wu.
Luo Wenxi stood alone, watching Lu Ying stride angrily towards Gu Qingqing and Jun Wu, her eyes reddening, biting her lower lip in frustration, nearly tearing the handkerchief in her hand. She stomped her foot and, after some thought, directly chased after Lu Ying.
Gu Qingqing was currently discussing the overhead lanterns with Jun Wu; these lanterns were exquisitely made and the most intricate ones they had seen along the way. From the carved lace to the paintings, everything was beautiful, prompting them to lean in for a closer look, without noticing Lu Ying approaching.
Jun Wu was the first to notice Lu Ying; he still remembered Lu Ying, furrowing his eyebrows slightly, subtly spoke to Gu Qingqing, hoping she wouldn’t turn around, trying to keep her from noticing Lu Ying.
Lu Ying also noticed Jun Wu’s attitude, pulling the corner of his mouth, changing his position to ensure Gu Qingqing would notice him.
Soon, Gu Qingqing saw Lu Ying. However, her impression of Lu Ying was poor. Upon seeing him, she instinctively frowned, obviously not wanting to see him.
"What are you doing here?" she asked Lu Ying unpleasantly.
"I’d say that Miss Gu and I are fated; otherwise, why would we meet so many times? Miss Gu still doesn’t want to be friends with me?" Lu Ying had by then returned to his graceful demeanor, looking accommodatingly at Gu Qingqing, with a possessiveness he hadn’t noticed himself.
Jun Wu saw this and unobtrusively positioned himself in front of Gu Qingqing, slightly blocking Lu Ying’s view, preventing him from seeing Gu Qingqing clearly, thus standing face-to-face with Lu Ying.
The two remarkable men just stared at each other, neither conceding to the other. Jun Wu was calm but wore a hint of dislike towards Lu Ying on his face, whereas Lu Ying was openly provocative, with a malicious grin on his lips.
"Why are you always insisting on making friends with people? Even if we are fated, we won’t become friends!" Although blocked by Jun Wu, Gu Qingqing still spoke unhappily.
Upon hearing this, Jun Wu smiled joyfully, but Lu Ying’s face became much uglier.
"Mr. Lu, Geng Geng has already said she does not wish to be friends with you. You also agreed not to bother her anymore last time. I assume Mr. Lu is not one to break his word?" Jun Wu looked at Lu Ying, taunting.
Lu Ying glared at Jun Wu, "Hmph, Saint Son Jun needn’t be pleased. Someday, I will make Miss Gu my friend." He looked past Jun Wu, determination in his eyes.
Jun Wu furrowed his brow, noting Luo Wenxi approaching from behind Lu Ying. Thinking of their relationship, he suddenly smiled, "Mr. Lu already has a lovely companion, so it’s best not to seek out Geng Geng anymore."
Lu Ying furrowed his brow, turning his head along Jun Wu’s gaze, and saw Luo Wenxi timidly walking over. His fingers at his side twitched slightly, his eyes flickered, and he turned his head to look at Gu Qingqing, who was completely blocked by Jun Wu. A trace of gloom passed through his eyes.
"Brother Lu Ying, it’s getting late. Let’s go back to the inn together," Luo Wenxi carefully tugged at Lu Ying’s sleeve, her eyes looking at him with a slight plea.
Lu Ying glanced at Gu Qingqing, turned his head, nodded, then turned to leave, surprisingly not waiting for Luo Wenxi.
Luo Wenxi glanced at Gu Qingqing and Jun Wu, and quickly followed in Lu Ying’s footsteps.
"Geng Geng, I think Lu Ying isn’t a simple person. You should stay away from him in the future," Jun Wu turned around, frowned, and said to Gu Qingqing.
"I know. I felt Lu Ying wasn’t simple the first time we met. Besides, I don’t really like him. I’ll stay away from him," Gu Qingqing said irritably when mentioning Lu Ying, her voice filled with resentment.
Seeing that Gu Qingqing genuinely disliked Lu Ying, Jun Wu felt much more at ease and continued to drag Gu Qingqing to enjoy the lanterns.
On the way back to the inn, neither Lu Ying nor Luo Wenxi spoke. After returning, Lu Ying, as usual, escorted Luo Wenxi back to her room, albeit with a very cold attitude. Luo Wenxi had been struggling quite a bit on the way. Just as Lu Ying was about to leave, she hurriedly stopped him.
Lu Ying turned around, staring at Luo Wenxi with a blank expression, a hint of impatience on his face.
"Brother Lu Ying, do you like that Gu Qingqing?" Luo Wenxi was hurt by Lu Ying’s attitude, but couldn’t help but ask cautiously while observing Lu Ying’s expression.
Lu Ying’s eyes flickered slightly. Looking at Luo Wenxi, he slightly curved his lips, "Xixi, whether I like Miss Gu or not is my business and has nothing to do with you. Just now, when I told you to return to the inn, you followed me. I hope this doesn’t happen again, or I might not be able to stay with you."
Lu Ying’s tone was still so gentle, but his words caused Luo Wenxi’s face to turn pale.
After speaking, he ignored Luo Wenxi’s reaction, turned around, and went back to his own room.
Luo Wenxi’s room was opposite Lu Ying’s. Watching the door close in front of her, the tears she had been holding back finally fell. She closed the door in embarrassment, took a few steps to the bed, buried herself under the covers, and cried softly.
From the moment Lu Ying saved her, she had fallen for him. He was always so gentle in front of her, making her deeply fall for his tenderness. It was only today she realized it was all a facade.
Though she couldn’t understand why Lu Ying pretended in front of her and stayed with her, she desperately hoped Lu Ying would continue the charade.
But Lu Ying didn’t seem to think so. The last time she saw Gu Qingqing, she felt a sense of crisis, which was why she acted that way towards Gu Qingqing. She thought they would never intersect, but unexpectedly, they met again here, and Lu Ying’s feelings for Gu Qingqing seemed even deeper than last time. The way he got angry because Gu Qingqing was with another man, she had never seen before.
She, too, is a proud daughter of heaven, and in the past, she was also very proud. But in the face of love, she couldn’t muster any pride. She was even willing to please Lu Ying, pretending not to know about Lu Ying’s feelings for Gu Qingqing, just hoping to keep Lu Ying by her side.
The more she thought about it, the more heartbroken Luo Wenxi felt, and the tears only flowed more, crying throughout the night.
After returning to his room, Lu Ying left the room in darkness, not lighting a lamp. In the dark, he directly walked to the table and sat down. A Communication Talisman appeared in his hand. He pondered while unconsciously rubbing the Communication Talisman.
Although he wanted to calm down, he found it particularly difficult to do what was usually easy this time, especially with the image of Gu Qingqing and Jun Wu intimately together constantly replaying in his mind, completely eroding his reason.
Finally, he couldn’t help but crush the Communication Talisman in his hand, then looked at the window, quietly waiting.
About a quarter of an hour later, a figure appeared in his room. The person was completely wrapped in a black cloak. If it weren’t for the sound of the window when he came in, one might not have sensed his presence.
"Subordinate greets the Young Master."
