Chapter 250 - 118: Dragon’s Heart (First Update)
Chapter 250 - 118: Dragon’s Heart (First Update)
When Gu Qingqing was still on the Xuantian Continent, she had attended auctions. After arriving in the Sub-immortal Realm, she hadn’t attended any yet. Now, she was quite curious and turned to glance at Jun Wu. He immediately understood her intent, and they both entered the auction hall together. As they entered, besides deducting the entrance fee, the person at the door handed them each a mask to wear.
"This is to protect the customers. There have been instances where customers bid on valuable items at auctions, only to be robbed afterward. Since then, masks have been required when entering the auction hall." Luo Sheng explained as he donned his own mask, giving Gu Qingqing and Jun Wu an explanation.
Both of them nodded and put on their masks.
The masks provided by the auction hall were of decent material, but they were all quite ugly. Gu Qingqing couldn’t see what she looked like, but after seeing Jun Wu’s appearance, she couldn’t help but laugh, her eyes arching with amusement.
In Jun Wu’s eyes, Gu Qingqing looked good no matter what. He couldn’t see his own appearance at the moment, but seeing Gu Qingqing happy made any appearance not matter to him.
Standing beside them, Luo Sheng noticed that even with masks on, the innate nobility of these two couldn’t be hidden. He sighed silently and then led them further inside.
There was only one auction per day here, and Gu Qingqing and her companions were quite lucky; the auction was about to begin. After finding seats, they waited quietly for it to start.
Soon, the auctioneer stepped onto the stage and announced the official start of the auction, proceeding to showcase the first auction item.
"The first auction item today is an eighth-tier Spirit Grass—Mystic Breath Grass. As everyone knows, Mystic Breath Grass is the main ingredient for refining Heart Cleansing Pills. Everyone knows the effect of Heart Cleansing Pills, so I won’t elaborate. The starting price for this Mystic Breath Grass is fifty high-grade Spirit Stones, with each bid not less than ten high-grade Spirit Stones. Let’s start the bidding now!" The auctioneer, evidently experienced, swiftly stirred the atmosphere with just a few words. As soon as he finished, someone started bidding.
Gu Qingqing and Jun Wu had no need for Mystic Breath Grass, so they didn’t participate in the bidding and just watched from the side.
Soon, the Mystic Breath Grass was sold for two hundred high-grade Spirit Stones.
"The second auction item today is a Star Meteorite weighing ten pounds, of top quality. Please take a look." At the auctioneer’s cue, a maid holding a tray took two steps forward to showcase the Star Meteorite to the audience, then returned to the auctioneer’s side. "The function of a Star Meteorite is well-known. A ten-pound Star Meteorite is rare. Thus, the starting price is one hundred fifty high-grade Spirit Stones, with each bid not less than fifty high-grade Spirit Stones. You may begin."
Star Meteorites, as ninth-tier refining materials, can enhance the quality of artifact refining. It can add benefit to the creation of anything and is much loved by Artifact Refiners. As a result, the bidding for it was much more enthusiastic compared to the Mystic Breath Grass.
Gu Qingqing didn’t need it; the Artifact Refiner she knew was Si Lin, and there were plenty of Star Meteorites available with Si Lin. Hence, Gu Qingqing didn’t spend money to buy it and just watched like before.
The Star Meteorite was finally sold at the price of two thousand high-grade Spirit Stones, and then the third, fourth, and fifth auctions followed in succession...
Gu Qingqing and her companions weren’t particularly lucky as there were many precious items today, but unfortunately, neither Gu Qingqing nor Jun Wu found themselves in need of them, so they did not bid.
Until the last item came up.
"Ladies and gentlemen, this last item is rather mysterious. Our auction house’s appraisers couldn’t determine what it is. The person who brought it only mentioned that it’s extremely valuable and set its starting price at ten thousand high-grade Spirit Stones, with each subsequent bid not less than one hundred high-grade Spirit Stones. You can take a look first before deciding whether to bid." When discussing the last auction item, the auctioneer appeared somewhat hesitant, prompting the maid beside him to present the item for the audience to see.
Sitting on the tray was a black, heart-shaped object, resembling stone. Apart from its color and shape, nothing could be discerned about it. Coupled with the auctioneer’s earlier words, many took a glance and lost interest.
Gu Qingqing wasn’t paying much attention initially, but her pet Little Yu, who had been asleep in the Pet Space, suddenly woke up as if it sensed something, appearing directly in Gu Qingqing’s hand and telepathically urging her to purchase the item, with a tone full of urgency.
Although a bit surprised, Gu Qingqing adored Little Yu immensely. As the auctioneer prepared to have the item taken away, she placed a bid, drawing the eyes of the audience. With her mask on, Gu Qingqing remained composed. And since no one rivaled her, she successfully purchased the item for ten thousand one hundred high-grade Spirit Stones.
After the auction, Gu Qingqing went backstage to pay for the item and obtained it. Curious, she touched it and was momentarily stunned, though she quickly regained composure, concealing her momentary lapse, and tucked the item away.
"Little Yu, why did you want me to buy that?" As they walked out, she asked Little Yu via telepathic communication.
"Geng Geng, that’s a dragon’s heart. If I absorb its power, I can ascend to the Immortal Rank, but I will be asleep for a long time!" Excited about gaining power, Little Yu was also somewhat downcast at the thought of having to sleep again, unable to accompany Gu Qingqing.
Upon hearing Little Yu’s words, a flash of surprise and understanding crossed Gu Qingqing’s eyes. When she touched it earlier, she had sensed a heartbeat. Who would have thought that it was indeed a heart and a dragon’s heart at that!
"It’s alright; once you’re stronger, you’ll be able to protect me." Sensing Little Yu’s low spirits, Gu Qingqing hurried to comfort it.
Little Yu agreed and perked up.
Having acquired the item, Gu Qingqing’s interest in further amusement quickly waned. She wanted to return to her lodging promptly to allow Little Yu to absorb the heart’s power. While Jun Wu cherished spending more time with Gu Qingqing, seeing her urgency, he didn’t object.
After rewarding Luo Sheng, Gu Qingqing and Jun Wu left the Amusement Hall together.
"Jun Wu, Little Yu just informed me that the item I purchased is a dragon’s heart. If it absorbs the energy within, it’ll elevate to the Immortal Rank. This trip turned out to be extremely rewarding. Who would have expected such a significant harvest?" As they exited the Amusement Hall, Gu Qingqing shared the news with Jun Wu, using telepathic communication for secrecy, though she couldn’t hide her joy.
Upon hearing this, Jun Wu’s eyes widened in rare surprise. He had been curious about why Gu Qingqing bid on that seemingly useless item. Now he realized how much she really gained from it. Naturally, he felt no jealousy, only happiness for Gu Qingqing.
"That’s wonderful! Let’s hurry back." More anxious than Gu Qingqing, Jun Wu quickened his pace.
Like before, the two navigated through various streets, heading back to their place of residence.
Midway, they both paused, sensing something amiss, and immediately became vigilant.
"Who’s there? Come out!" Jun Wu shielded Gu Qingqing, his voice firm and face icy.
Suddenly, more than a dozen men in tight-fitting red outfits appeared on the street, surrounding Gu Qingqing and Jun Wu. Observers, noticing the peculiar situation, promptly left, leaving Gu Qingqing, Jun Wu, and the men dressed in red alone on the street.
"Blood Sect members?" Seeing the uniforms and the malicious aura emanating from them, Jun Wu immediately recognized their sect, frowning. "You dare appear in Cloud Peak City and even block us?"
"Hand over what you bought at the auction, or face the consequences!" The leader, failing to recognize Gu Qingqing and Jun Wu, coldly threatened.
"Face the consequences?" Jun Wu repeated, lowering his voice icily as he stood protectively in front of Gu Qingqing.
Without waiting for a response, Jun Wu immediately struck first.
A flash of silver, and his scimitar was unsheathed, forcing his opponent, who only managed to draw his weapon to block the scimitar, to retreat hastily several steps before launching himself at Jun Wu.
The other men in red brandished their weapons, attacking Gu Qingqing and Jun Wu fiercely.
Little Yu, upon seeing this, appeared right into Gu Qingqing’s hand from the Pet Space and entered the battle.
Mixed Immortal Silk danced like a Spiritual Snake among the red-clad men, leaving them astonished as it weaved between them, effortlessly taking them down. The red-clad men, who initially thought defeating Gu Qingqing and Jun Wu would be easy, were taken completely by surprise.
While facing off against more than a dozen red-robed men, the pair and Little Yu did not seem to be at a disadvantage.
During the time they were in the Illusion Array, Gu Qingqing couldn’t use a talisman, but now that they were outside, she could indeed use one, especially since her stock had replenished. She retrieved a stack and, without even checking which kind of talisman they were, immediately infused them with Spiritual Power and tossed them, much to the red-clothed men’s surprise and frustration!
