Chapter 51: Marriage Fortune-Telling
Chapter 51: Marriage Fortune-Telling
The Crown Prince of the Sterling Family had also gotten quite a shock at Moonview Terrace.
He had brought his heartbroken friend here to take his mind off things, thinking Moonview Terrace was the perfect place to clear one’s head. But by a stroke of bad luck, Declan Nash had happened to witness the scene on the terrace.
At ZONE Club a few days ago, Crown Prince Sterling had already sensed something was up. Back then, he just thought that the untouchable beauty, having been on his pedestal for so long, was just looking for a woman to cure his boredom. But judging by today’s situation, it was clearly not that simple. The untouchable beauty had likely been plucked long ago by the Eldest Miss Sterling.
Declan Nash’s words confirmed his suspicion. "Cece broke off our engagement and chose my uncle instead."
Shocked to get such first-hand gossip, Crown Prince Sterling instantly changed his tune. His original plan to advise his buddy to try a little coercion went right out the window. "Going up against Silas Norwood? You’d be crushed in an instant. Bro, look at all the women here tonight. Pick anyone you want, and I’ll set you up. With your status, position, and that face, there are plenty of women who’d fall for you."
He suggested that Declan go see Elder Coleman from Port Sovereign to have his fortune told. "He’s a famous Feng Shui Master over in Port Sovereign, and his fate and physiognomy readings are incredibly accurate. Why don’t you give it a try?"
"No." Declan Nash was completely listless, his voice cracking. "Is there any more alcohol?"
「On the terrace.」
Celia Sterling’s phone buzzed with a string of messages from Quinn Sinclair. At first, she was still reserved enough to just send texts:
"Where are you? Where did you run off to? Your brother is in the banquet hall, and these women are like a pack of wolves. Their eyes are practically glowing green when they look at him."
"Too bad Moonlight is on the terrace, so no one dares to go over. We’re trying to push someone brave enough to go and try to hook him, but everyone’s so bold when they’re writing the plot, yet they all chicken out when it’s time to act..."
"Or should I say, seeing them in person really boosts efficiency? It’s only been a little while since we saw your brother and Silas Norwood this morning, but Moonlight has already been updated with 10,000 words, and Cinnabar Mole is even more insane—30,000 new words! It’s all absolutely juicy stuff. Want me to send it to you?"
Celia Sterling and Silas Norwood were sharing a pair of earbuds, listening to music. She was nestled softly against him, her long, curly hair tickling his neck. Her eyes were half-closed, lost in the music. Silas’s slender fingers toyed with a stray strand of her hair that had crossed over to his side, and the book in his hands hadn’t been turned for a long time.
Quinn Sinclair waited a long time without a reply and finally just sent a video call.
Celia Sterling angled the camera away from Silas Norwood, turning it toward the other side of the sofa before answering. "What’s up?"
"I was asking where you are." Quinn Sinclair looked at the screen and let out a curious sound. "Hey, the background in your video... it looks like the terrace, doesn’t it?"
Celia Sterling hummed in agreement.
"Silas Norwood is supposed to be on the terrace too. Have you seen him?" Quinn Sinclair’s tone was inexplicably excited. "Such a divine beauty, and not easy to sneak a peek at. No wonder I couldn’t find you anywhere."
Celia Sterling reflexively glanced at Silas Norwood. He had already put down his book and was watching her at his leisure, a faint smile in his amber eyes.
"If you have something to say, just say it," Celia Sterling cut Quinn Sinclair off.
"Come to the garden outside the banquet hall," Quinn urged. "I’ll help you unlock the latest Chapter."
Celia Sterling certainly didn’t dare discuss the smutty fanfiction about him right in front of Silas Norwood. She cut her off again. "I don’t have time to read today."
"Then do you want to come out and have the compatibility of you and your Fireworks calculated?" Quinn Sinclair changed the subject. "That Master Coleman’s fortune-telling is freakishly accurate! You know how Eldest Miss Warren’s Great Dane that she’s had for eight years went missing a couple of days ago? An hour ago, that Master Coleman gave her a tip to look north in a place of water and wood, and a bodyguard from the Warren Family just called to say they really found it in the forest park to the north!"
Celia Sterling’s interest was piqued. "Is he really that good?"
"Nina Sterling hasn’t been feeling well lately, and Master Coleman said it was because she had a mulberry tree planted in her yard right in front of her window. The butler has already cut it down, and Nina said she suddenly feels so much lighter. Tell me, isn’t that spooky?"
Celia Sterling was tempted. "Maybe it was just a coincidence..."
"The Crown Prince of the Morgan Family is almost forty and has been through four wives without a single child. Master Coleman said he already has two sons. The Morgan Family used all their connections to dig deep, and they actually found two sons—in the prestigious Rhodes Family! It’s so dramatic! The young mistress of the Rhodes Family had a one-night stand with the Morgan Crown Prince before she was married, so the precious darling the Rhodes Family has doted on for over a decade is actually from the Morgan bloodline. Now the Rhodes Family and the Morgan Family are at each other’s throats."
Celia Sterling was listening intently and couldn’t help but say, "Put me in the queue..."
"Remember to bring the birth characters for you and your Fireworks."
After hanging up, she finally remembered Silas Norwood. Her almond-shaped eyes fell on him, but he was already holding out two exquisite, gilt-edged slips of paper. "If you want to go have some fun, then go."
On one of the slips, written with powerful, vigorous strokes and with ink that was not yet dry, were Silas Norwood’s birth characters.
Celia Sterling felt a little embarrassed. "I was just gossiping about all that stuff in front of you..."
"It’s nice." Silas Norwood reached out, picked up a purple silk ribbon, and simply tied back her cascading hair. The pad of his thumb gently brushed against her delicate, small earlobe. "Every side of Cece is fascinating to me."
The tips of Celia Sterling’s ears began to turn red.
She lowered her head, picked up a pen, and with a few quick strokes, wrote her own birth characters on the other slip of paper. Clutching the two slips, she slipped away.
The banquet hall was bustling.
Several social circles were scattered in various corners. Kian Sterling was chatting idly in low voices with the heads of several major families. Celia Sterling’s eyes swept across the room and, sure enough, she saw that the gazes of nearly every woman were practically welded onto him. The bolder socialites with higher status had even walked over to make small talk, only to be coolly ignored by Kian Sterling.
Compared to Kian Sterling’s unapproachable demeanor, the circle in the garden pavilion was much more harmonious, filled with laughter and cheerful voices. Quinn Sinclair was sitting on a stone bench by the pavilion, waving to Celia Sterling from afar. Behind her, a large group of socialites was gathered, letting out gasps of amazement from time to time. In their midst, Elder Coleman from Port Sovereign wore a kindly expression as he smiled and dealt with the group of heiresses.
Celia Sterling walked over.
She arrived just in time to hear a certain young lady ask shyly, "Master Coleman, look at my face, and then look at Chairman Sterling’s face. Do you think I have a chance to marry him in this lifetime?"
Elder Coleman’s tone was enigmatic. "Miss Sloan, your destined marriage is not far off. Although he may not have Chairman Sterling’s godlike features, he will be a good man worthy of your trust."
Another young lady had already pushed her way forward, her tone fanatical. "Master, what about me? You saw Silas Norwood in the conference room. Last night, I dreamed that he and I had three children. Master, do you think this dream is some kind of omen?"
"Miss, your obsession has become a demon in your heart. Chairman Norwood’s romantic fate is already set in stone. It would be best for you to abandon these delusions soon, lest you harm your mind and body."
"Silas Norwood’s romantic fate is already set in stone?" This time, quite a few socialites gasped in unison. "Who is it? Moonlight should be shining down on all of us! Which shameless hussy dares to have him all to herself?!"
"You ladies are joking. I’m not a god; how could I know who he is going to marry?" Elder Coleman was still beaming. "I just happened to read Chairman Norwood’s face today and noticed that a happy event is approaching for him. And it’s a match made in heaven, a rare and wonderful union."
The socialites let out a collective wail of despair!
Amidst the agitated atmosphere, Celia Sterling slowly stepped forward and gently placed the two sets of birth characters in front of Elder Coleman.
"Hello, Elder Coleman!" Her tone was very polite. "I’d also like to have my fortune told."
