Chapter 2 Xu Yueqing's Nemesis
Chapter 2 Xu Yueqing's Nemesis
Xu Yueqing felt that she needed to take a break.
At the very least, one must be able to walk normally.
At this moment, Chen Bo had already left Xu Yueqing's house and was standing on the bustling street.
The memories in his mind were still being integrated. This world was slightly different from the one he had before, and the entertainment industry was more developed.
But the original owner was in such a terrible state that he was basically unknown in the entertainment industry.
However, as for her looks...
Chen Bo looked at his reflection in the glass window of a roadside shop. Tsk, not bad. He had delicate features and a slightly melancholic air about him, but his temperament was too dull and soft, a waste of his face.
He reached into his pocket and took out his phone.
Unlocking the screen revealed a pitifully clean interface; aside from a few essential social media apps, there wasn't even a single game.
In the contacts, "Yueqing" is still noted with a heart symbol.
How innocent!
They had been dating for three years, but he had never slept with Xu Yueqing; he had to do it for her.
From last night until I went out just now, if each season has its own flower blooming, then he has essentially helped the original owner get back everything Xu Yueqing owed him over those three years.
Just as Chen Bo was about to check his bank card balance, a phone call came in, and a name appeared on the screen: Zhou Lingyan.
Zhou Lingyan is Xu Yueqing's best friend who grew up with her.
However, their wonderful friendship is a thing of the past.
They are now mortal enemies.
This Miss Zhou Lingyan has always had an inexplicable interest in the original owner of this body, who is an appendage of Xu Yueqing.
During the gathering, he frequently glanced at the original owner with those hooky eyes, both flirtatious and condescending.
Chen Bo raised an eyebrow, answered the phone, and before he could speak, a charming yet slightly lazy voice came from the other end: "Hey? Teacher Chen, I heard you got fired by our Yue?"
Chen Bo smirked, walked to the shade of a tree by the roadside, and leaned lazily against the trunk: "Miss Zhou, you're so well-informed, did the Civil Affairs Bureau send you a text message? Xu Yueqing and I haven't registered our marriage yet."
There was a pause on the other end of the phone, followed by an even more cheerful laugh, like silver bells, that came through the receiver and tickled the heart.
"Wow, you've gotten so quick-witted lately. I've never seen you so talkative before." Zhou Lingyan lowered her voice, her tone filled with gossipy excitement. "Did you really break up? Because of Lu Ze, Xu Yueqing's old classmate?"
"Otherwise what? Is it because of you?" Chen Bo replied casually.
"Heh, if it were because of me, you should have broken up with me long ago." Zhou Lingyan chuckled, then changed her tone, "How does it feel to be heartbroken? Does it feel like the sky has fallen, the world is bleak, and life has lost its meaning?"
Chen Bo looked up at the fairly bright sky and said sincerely, "It's alright, the sun is shining brightly."
"..." Zhou Lingyan was speechless for a moment, then laughed and scolded, "You heartless bastard, Yueqing has been with you for three years, and your reaction is too cold, isn't it? Oh right, I heard that she gave you a severance package and a resource, no wonder you're so calm."
"You have all the information you need," Chen Bo asked. "Did Miss Zhou call specifically to check if I'm crying my eyes out in the bathroom?"
"Of course not." Zhou Lingyan's voice suddenly softened, carrying a hint of probing, yet also a touch of eager challenge. "I'm here... to pick up the scraps."
"Finding a bargain?"
"That's right." Zhou Lingyan said matter-of-factly, "What Xu Yueqing doesn't want, I want. So, Chen Bo, how about considering being with me?"
Chen Bo was genuinely surprised this time.
This woman is so direct?
"With you? Miss Zhou, I'm currently suffering from both unemployment and heartbreak. I have no money, no resources, and all I have left is this face. What do you want from me?" Chen Bo asked.
On the other end of the phone, Zhou Lingyan's voice became even more alluring: "I like you because you're pleasing to the eye, I like you... and now you're mine. Didn't Xu Yueqing think you weren't good enough for her and wanted to embrace her art world? I'm going to pick you up and hold you in my hands. Just imagine what kind of expression that aloof face will have if she knew you were with me? Just thinking about it excites me."
That reason... is so infuriating!
"That sounds interesting." Chen Bo laughed. "But Miss Zhou, what's in it for me to work with you? Let me make it clear first, I've been managing Xu Yueqing's finances for three years, and she hasn't given me my breakup fee yet. I'm pretty broke lately."
Zhou Lingyan laughed heartily, "Benefits? The benefits are that I'll treat you to all sorts of good food and drink, and find you work. That's better than you licking your wounds alone in a corner, right? As for the money... well, that depends on your performance. So, are you in or not?"
"Sure," he readily agreed, "but I have one condition."
"Oh, you dare to make demands? Tell me about it."
"I don't like living in squalor," Chen Bo said slowly. "I was just kicked out and have nowhere to go. Since Miss Zhou is taking me in, shouldn't she be responsible for settling me in?"
There was a two-second silence on the other end of the phone, then Zhou Lingyan's laughter became even brighter, even tinged with excitement: "Great, Chen Bo, you're really shameless now... I like it! Send me the address, I'll come pick you up."
The phone hangs up.
After sending his location, Chen Bo put away his phone and looked up at the sky.
There seems to be Zhou Lingyan's leg there.
Perhaps because he had never seen Zhou Lingyan's beautiful legs, Chen Bo felt that her legs might be even more attractive than Xu Yueqing's.
A moment later, a sleek red sports car, roaring with an arrogant engine, drove toward him.
The car stopped, and the door opened upwards like wings. Zhou Lingyan leaned halfway out of the driver's seat, took off her sunglasses, and beckoned to Chen Bo under the shade of a tree.
That posture was both arrogant and alluring.
Chen Bo clicked his tongue, picked up his meager luggage—a worn-out suitcase and a new backpack—and slowly walked over.
As you get closer, you can see it more clearly.
Zhou Lingyan wore a red, tight-fitting halter-neck mini dress, the hem of which was breathtakingly short, revealing a pair of long, straight, and dazzlingly white legs.
She was like a burning fire, passionate and full of energy, with a scorching heat.
Her features were strikingly beautiful, with slightly upturned eyes that gave her a captivating look, alluring lips, and perfectly white teeth when she smiled.
"Oh, Teacher Chen, is this all you have to offer?" Zhou Lingyan's gaze swept over the box in his hand, her tone mocking. "Xu Yueqing is really something, three years of youth, and all she gets is this shabby box?"
Fortunately, the box wasn't big. Chen Bo tossed it into the cramped trunk, then opened the passenger door and got in.
A sophisticated and alluring perfume scent, mixed with Zhou Lingyan's unique warm fragrance, wafted over.
Flowers bloom in all four seasons, year after year, and Chen Bo finds himself wanting to see the flowers bloom again.
I wish I'd done this one last time; I left in such a hurry!
Chen Bo felt very guilty.
