Chapter 872: Si Mingjing Got Extorted, It Hurts (Part 1)
Ten days later, Dr. Chang called Si Mingjing, her voice filled with admiration and respect.
"Mingjing, after taking the prescription you gave, Mrs. Chen has greatly improved. Today, we checked her creatinine levels, and they’ve dropped to 235. How did you do it? Your medical skills have left all the doctors in the department in complete awe."
Si Mingjing chuckled over the phone, "Aunt, it’s not that dramatic. Mrs. Chen took the wrong medication, and it wasn’t irreversible kidney failure. You previously mentioned giving a talk at the nephrology department. I’ve organized my and my mentor’s years of experience in treating kidney diseases into a booklet. I’m ready to give the talk anytime."
Chang Danran expressed her gratitude, "You even prepared a booklet? That’s great. I’ll arrange it for nine o’clock the morning after tomorrow. How does that sound to you?"
Si Mingjing replied, "Sure, I’m free whenever."
After chatting a bit more, Si Mingjing hung up the phone. Ye Siyuan had been in postpartum confinement for almost fifteen days and was finally free to enjoy herself today, going wherever she wanted.
The first thing Ye Siyuan wanted to do after confinement was to drag Si Mingjing out for a feast. With Yan Zhenxi and Song Tangtang joining them, the four women indulged themselves in a food paradise until Ye Siyuan was stuffed.
The wedding in A City was approaching, and the elders in Yecheng had returned to the Imperial Capital of A Country. Even the little dragon cubs from the Imperial Capital of Mu Continent were on their way.
Yan Zhenxi teased her, "Don’t get too chubby; it won’t look good in a wedding dress."
Ye Siyuan patted her stomach and said, "I’ve already married, so it doesn’t matter if I get chubby."
Song Tangtang and Si Mingjing laughed beside her, and Yan Zhenxi said, "Who says you don’t need to maintain your figure after getting married? Beware that your husband might mind."
Ye Siyuan was confident about her husband, her face full of happiness, "He himself said I was too thin and should eat more. I must relive all the foods I couldn’t eat in the past ten days, and there’s plenty of time to lose weight later."
Song Tangtang, upon hearing about losing weight, became like a startled bird.
She shook her head and said, "It’s better not to lose weight. We’re not overweight, just normal. I swear, I’ll never diet again. If Asheng ever dislikes me, I’ll make him sleep in the living room!"
"Hahaha." The other three women burst out laughing.
Ye Siyuan laughed the hardest, "Why let him sleep in the living room? He could watch movies all night from there; let him sleep outside the door, give him a washboard or a durian, and let him reflect on himself."
Song Tangtang laughed heartily, covering her mouth.
The four women chatted and laughed along the way. After enough time in the food haven, they went for a spa and then watched a movie.
If not for the call saying that the planes carrying the little dragon cubs had landed on the helipad of the Ye Family estate, the four would have gone to check out a trending barbecue spot.
Si Mingjing missed the children and was eager to get home.
After the movie, they went to a cake shop to buy cakes the kids loved.
As soon as the car reached the courtyard entrance, Liangliang and Xiaosu came running out enthusiastically, each holding a small balloon. Seeing Si Mingjing and Ye Siyuan get out of the car, they each ran and hugged their legs.
Sheng Liangliang hugged Si Mingjing’s leg tightly and said, "Mom, this princess missed you to death. Both Dad and Mom are meanies for not taking this princess out to play each time. Two kisses are a must to appease me."
Si Mingjing laughed and picked up her precious daughter, "Alright, how about three kisses to make up for it?"
Sheng Liangliang pointed to her tiny forehead, and Si Mingjing affectionately kissed it.
"Here too, and here."
The delicate little princess pointed to her left and right cheeks, and Si Mingjing kissed her tender, baby-soft cheeks twice more before asking, "Did you visit your aunt’s little baby?"
Sheng Liangliang replied excitedly, "The little sister is in the robot’s belly. Uncle said she’ll come out in a few months. Mom, did I come out of a robot’s belly too?"
"You didn’t. You broke out of an egg."
Si Mingjing carried Little Liangliang inside, asking, "Who told you it’s a little sister? It might be a little brother too..."
Yun Xiaosu clung tightly to Ye Siyuan’s leg, getting picked up by her.
Ye Siyuan pinched her prominent little nose, "Did you miss Auntie?"
Yun Xiaosu nodded her little head vigorously.
Yan Zhenxi and Song Tangtang got out of the car one after the other, and as the group entered the living room, they noticed it was bustling with energy. Having so many children playing in the living room was the kind of joyful scene that grandma and the elders of the Ye Family loved to see.
"Jingjing, I’ve got a gift for you."
Ye Nianbai, eager to show off, took out a box of pastries, raised it high, and handed it to Si Mingjing.
"Jingjing, this is freshly made with no shelf life. You must try it. It’s the best pastry little grandpa has tasted recently—super chewy and soft, sweet but not greasy."
Si Mingjing put Liangliang down and took the pastry box, which had "shrimp paste cake" written on it.
She knew shrimp paste cake was a specialty from the Imperial Capital of Mu Continent, sweet yet not greasy, regarded as a delicacy. The most famous brand was the one Xiaobai brought back.
Si Mingjing took a bite, and Ye Nianbai eagerly blinked, "Jingjing, is it good?"
"Delicious. Zhenxi, Tangtang, Siyuan, you should try it too."
Yan Zhenxi, Song Tangtang, and Ye Siyuan each took a piece from the box. After eating, they all nodded in approval, and proceeded to grab another one, finishing the box of shrimp paste cake quickly, still craving more.
Ye Junqing, Si Lisao, and Mo Yinhe were discussing the specifics of the wedding in the living room. Si Mingjing and Ye Siyuan joined them to take part in the discussion.
Ye Shen called Song Tangtang upstairs, and the two went up to play games.
At that moment, Mo Yinhe’s ring phone rang. He answered the call and suddenly gave Si Mingjing a meaningful glance. Si Mingjing looked back, asking, "What?"
Mo Yinhe, with a voice as magnetic and gentle as ever, proudly said, "The president called to say Professor Ye requested a meeting, expressing his willingness to share the country’s childcare technology, hoping the president would agree. Mingjing, did you cure Mrs. Chen’s illness?"
His wife’s intervention was indeed effective and swift.
"She probably needs a few more days of medication to consolidate, but Aunt called in the afternoon to say Mrs. Chen’s condition had stabilized. I hadn’t even reminded him, and Professor Ye took the initiative to speak to the president. Professor Ye is a man of his word."
Si Mingjing liked people who kept their promises.
In light of Professor Ye’s sincerity, she decided to check Mrs. Chen’s pulse during her lecture at the Third Hospital three days later to see if all residual toxins had been cleared.
She didn’t say it explicitly, but actually, Mrs. Chen had just taken the wrong Chinese medicine and was poisoned.
So, all it took was detoxification.
