Chapter 823: Returning to Visit the Graves 4
Chapter 823: Returning to Visit the Graves 4
If it were Ye Shen being so oblivious, Mo Yinhe wouldn’t bother to speak up, he’d just let him make a fool of himself. But since the one lacking awareness this time was his beloved sister, Mo Yinhe couldn’t help but soften his heart and called out, "Is your brother-in-law here?"
This was directed at Si Lisao.
Ye Siyuan instinctively tilted her head and saw Si Lisao standing tall with a slight smile on his lips.
Ye Siyuan immediately placed the spiced duck back on the plate, used a napkin from the table to wipe her hands, then her face, put her crossed legs down, and assumed a prim and sweet sitting posture, flashing Si Lisao a sweet smile.
The little straight man sitting there, Xi Lei, blurted out, "Auntie, you’re so fake~~"
Pfft!
Ye Siyuan almost turned around to smack the kid, not understanding the meaning behind words at all, who’s pretending?
Which girl doesn’t act reserved before getting married, while eating?
All the unreserved ones become that way after marriage, okay?
Ye Siyuan was so frustrated she wished she could find a hole to crawl into, looking extremely dejected.
Si Lisao walked over with a smile, pulled out an empty seat next to Ye Siyuan, sat down, and glanced at the spiced duck on the table, asking, "What’s this? It’s so tasty?"
"A specialty from my hometown. My sister-in-law brought it for me. Try it... uh... Please ignore my eating manners."
Inside, Ye Siyuan was wailing in agony.
Si Lisao picked up a piece of spiced duck and popped it into his mouth, immediately furrowing his brow: "Spicy."
Si Lisao rarely eats spicy food, and this spiced duck wasn’t just spicy; it was outrageously hot.
After just one bite, Si Lisao felt like he was on fire from head to toe; even the dragon horns on his forehead seemed to sprout out in heat.
Ye Siyuan laughed heartily, quickly handing her glass of milk over to him: "Drink milk. Milk soothes the heat. I forgot to tell you, it’s really spicy."
Si Lisao downed the entire glass of milk she handed over, yet still struggled to endure the burning sensation that was making his nose smoke. He got up, poured himself two glasses of water, and drank them to ease the heat a bit.
Mo Yinhe remarked cynically, "Is this the man you like? Your tastes don’t match, dining together will be painful, and meals are a basic daily necessity. You can still put the brakes on this relationship now."
Ye Siyuan rolled her eyes: "Brother, stop sowing discord! At worst, my household will have ten dishes every meal—five spicy, five non-spicy. It’s not like I’m short on money for a table of food!"
With money comes license; what business is it of yours?
After saying it, she reached out her hand and said, "Give me money."
"Why should I give you money?"
"I’m your sister, your real sister. Are you saying you want me to spend a man’s money before getting married? You once told me that girls should never ask men for money—because if you eat from someone’s hand, eventually you lose the confidence to speak up!"
Si Mingjing chuckled quietly, and Mo Yinhe shot her a glare, to which Si Mingjing responded with two words: "Serves you."
Si Lisao, having finally recovered, pulled a card from his wallet and placed it in front of Ye Siyuan: "Don’t listen to your brother. If I can’t even afford to take care of you and you still need to ask him for money, then what is the point of you marrying me?"
Ye Siyuan blinked her eyes: "For your looks."
Si Lisao: "..."
Si Lisao reached out and gently stroked Ye Siyuan’s head.
Mo Yinhe, feeling his eyes stung, turned to the chuckling Si Mingjing and asked, "Mingjing, what do you see in me?"
"In you not taking a bath."
"Pfft—hahahahaha!"
Ye Siyuan laughed so hard she bent over.
Si Lisao laughed too. He asked, "What were you doing in Gendaya? Qu Liushang and Feng Xuezao’s marriage alliance fell apart, and now Qu Xiangyi is marrying Feng Chonghua’s brother, Feng Zhongyao."
Qu Xiangyi is Qu Liushang’s half-sister, a cherished princess in Gendaya.
Mo Yinhe replied nonchalantly, "Didn’t do much, just rescued a girl about to step into the fortress city, doing a good deed without leaving a name."
Si Lisao said, "Qu Liushang won’t let this go easily."
Ye Siyuan puffed up with pride and said, "We’ll deal with whatever comes, are you saying my brother is scared of Qu Liushang?"
Family is family; one moment they were at odds, the next they united against an outsider.
Mo Yinhe said, "Right now, the most important thing is your wedding. Get married soon so you stop being a headache for me."
Ye Siyuan thought to herself, how have I been a headache for you? It’s clearly you who are provoking me on purpose.
But she did want to get married soon, so she held her tongue to avoid giving her brother any ammunition.
Out of the three siblings, only her lifelong commitment was unsettled. With an eager and excited heart, there was just over a month left before she would become a married woman!
Ye Siyuan felt utterly joyful, her good mood enhancing her appetite, allowing her to eat half a bowl of spiced duck.
Si Lisao was genuinely worried her stomach might rebel later, but thankfully, nothing of the sort happened.
A month and a half is neither long nor short; it passed without a trace.
Yan Zhenxi and Ye Qinghan arrived three days earlier on Mu Continent to watch Ye Siyuan get married.
Traditionally, before getting married, Ye Siyuan should go back to Atlantis to await Si Lisao’s proposal.
Given the long distance between Atlantis and Mu Continent, making a single day’s round trip for the wedding is impractical, so the two countries decided on two ceremonies, one on Mu Continent and another in Atlantis.
Now, the wedding on Mu Continent meant Ye Siyuan would leave from the Bai Family.
Tracing her roots, Ye Siyuan is a child of the Bai Family, and the Bai family matriarch intends to pass the family down to her.
So, leaving from the Bai Family for the wedding makes perfect sense.
Yan Zhenxi came early because Ye Qinghan connected with Sheng Liuyun, and they wanted to finalize business cooperation. The preliminary discussions had gone well, only the signing phase remained.
Ye Qinghan came in person to complete the signing ceremony with Sheng Liuyun.
Meanwhile, Yan Zhenxi went to the Bai Family.
Three days before the wedding, it’s inappropriate for the bride and groom to meet, so Ye Siyuan moved into the Bai Family home.
The Bai Family was newly renovated; within it was Ye Siyuan’s own little nook. The house was designed to resemble her place in Yecheng, with her bedroom decor almost a replica of it. Ye Siyuan loved it—it genuinely felt like a homecoming.
Ye Siyuan’s grandparents and parents, along with Ye Xinguang and his wife, had also traveled from Yecheng to attend her wedding.
Everyone was in high spirits, except for the nagging Ye Shen, who said, "Who leaves for their wedding from a place like this? This isn’t a proper family home; you should be going back to Yecheng for the ceremony."
Yan Zhenxi said, "It’s not impractical to have two ceremonies in different cities. Even in A Country, many couples working away from home will have one ceremony where they live and another when they return home."
"Exactly, I’ll be having another ceremony in Yecheng. The date’s already set—it’s a week after, also a lucky day!" Ye Siyuan said angrily, "Don’t rain on my parade on my big day, or I’ll kick you off Mu Continent and turn you into a salted fish!"
