Chapter 504: Si Mingjing’s Coronation Ceremony! 1
Chapter 504: Si Mingjing’s Coronation Ceremony! 1
Ye Nianbai suddenly became so excited that he jumped up. "So, I have two uncles now?"
Si Mingjing said, "Sheng Liuyun, Yun Yin, Gu Changbin, Lu Jinyi... they are all your uncles."
Ye Nianbai was stunned, as if a new world had opened up to him. "I have so many uncles?"
"Hmm." After Si Mingjing had dressed neatly, people outside urged her that it was time to leave.
According to the procedure, she needed to ride with the submarine honor guard and circle the main thoroughfare of the Imperial Capital, enjoying the adoration of the populace.
Afterward, the submarine honor guard would return to the Royal Palace. She would then stand on the towering outer walls of the Royal Palace to review the armed forces and deliver a national address.
Then came the state banquet, which was combined with her wedding banquet, featuring a large-scale song and dance performance.
Throughout the entire process, Mo Yinhe would be by her side.
When she came out of the dressing room, she couldn’t see Mo Yinhe and asked, "Where is my Empress?!"
An official in charge of the schedule approached. "Your Majesty the Queen, there has been a change in the schedule. Crown Prince Yinhe is already waiting for you on the submarine."
"Isn’t he supposed to carry me there?"
The previous itinerary had indicated that Mo Yinhe would carry her out, all the way to the submarine. Then, they would both be escorted by the honor guard as they paraded along the main thoroughfare of the Imperial Capital before returning to the high walls of the Royal Palace to formally review the armed forces.
The schedule officer hesitated.
"Speak!"
"According to the customs of the Mu Continent, it is inappropriate for the Empress to carry you out, as it is not a man marrying a woman. Previously, Crown Prince Yinhe insisted on adding this step. Although the Etiquette Officer felt it was improper, they complied due to his strong request. Now..."
"What now?"
The schedule officer said, "Prince Bo Leng and Crown Prince Lisao had a huge argument. Bo Leng accused Lisao of betraying their own, claiming Lisao was swayed because he fancied Crown Prince Yinhe’s sister, and was thus allowing Crown Prince Yinhe to violate the customs of the Mu Continent. Prince Bo Leng argued that on the Mu Continent, Yinhe is merely a son-in-law who married in, and as such, has no right to carry you. Prince Bo Leng insisted that he would personally carry you out."
Si Mingjing was rendered speechless. That Prince Bo Leng! She was perfectly willing to let Mo Yinhe carry her!
The schedule officer continued, "Actually, Prince Bo Leng’s concerns are valid. It is you who are marrying Crown Prince Yinhe, not the other way around. How can he carry you out? Those who don’t know might think you were the one being married off. Prince Bo Leng is here..."
From afar, a tall, imposing man approached. With each step of his long legs, the people around him seemed to hold their breath, apparently in awe or fear of him.
He was a man with a cold, formidable presence and an unpredictable temperament.
Si Mingjing raised her eyebrows slightly. When Bo Leng drew near, she confronted him. "Quite the imposing figure you are, scaring my son and disrupting my schedule."
Ye Nianbai, standing behind Si Mingjing, called out crisply, "Great Uncle!"
Si Mingjing pressed a hand to her forehead. How could this child switch sides so quickly? She was just defending him, and this was the result... Did she have no pride?
But Ye Nianbai instinctively admired strength, and he thought this great uncle was incredibly cool. Great Uncle had even said before that if he saw him again and Ye Nianbai didn’t greet him, he would spank him!
Bo Leng looked down imperiously at Ye Nianbai, then his gaze shifted to Si Mingjing’s furious face. "My nephew is as perceptive as you are."
After speaking, Bo Leng turned, presenting his broad back to her. His next two words, delivered in a tone that brooked no refusal, were, "Get on!"
Si Mingjing was reluctant; after all, she and Bo Leng weren’t well acquainted.
The itinerary officer stood by, adopting an air of careful neutrality, and said, "Your Majesty the Queen, it is most appropriate for Prince Bo Leng to carry you. It is even more fitting than Crown Prince Yinhe doing so."
Si Mingjing was unconvinced. But since things had reached this point, so be it! Dwelling on it would delay the auspicious hour!
Si Mingjing climbed onto Bo Leng’s back. He carried her very steadily along the way.
Her Rosy Mantle was very long, with two maids carefully holding up the train as they followed.
The sound of drums and music led the procession, with a crowd of people surrounding them.
Finally, Si Mingjing saw Mo Yinhe standing in front of the submarine. He was tall and slender, with a noble and spirited presence. His refined temperament, matched with a strikingly handsome face, made him irresistibly attractive, and Si Mingjing was especially pleased to see him.
Bo Leng carried her to Mo Yinhe’s side, set her down, and looked coldly at Mo Yinhe.
Mo Yinhe met his gaze. The eyes of the two men, both of equally exceptional temperament, clashed.
Si Mingjing coughed lightly.
Bo Leng placed Si Mingjing’s hand into Mo Yinhe’s, delivering a stern admonition, "Henceforth, be a devoted husband to my sister! If you dare mistreat her, I’ll flatten your Atlantis!"
Si Mingjing couldn’t help but press her hand to her forehead, unable to bear looking at Mo Yinhe’s expression.
Mo Yinhe wasn’t angry. Instead, he gripped her hand tightly, swept her up in a princess carry onto the submarine, and then boarded himself.
Once seated inside the submarine, Mo Yinhe retorted to Bo Leng, "You won’t need to flatten it. If I mistreat her, I’ll kill myself first!"
With that, he closed the glass hatch of the submarine with a SNAP.
Bo Leng stood outside the submarine, snorted heavily, but seemed rather satisfied with Mo Yinhe’s words.
Later on, the grand honor guard led the way, and dozens of submarines set out.
The citizens lined the streets, welcoming them, all gathered on both sides of the main road, eager to witness Her Majesty the Queen’s splendor.
Sitting in the submarine, Mo Yinhe held Si Mingjing’s hand tightly. "Another brother of yours?"
"I don’t know. He said he’s my eldest brother."
Mo Yinhe made a noncommittal sound. He then said, "Bo Leng is bellicose! Even Crown Prince Lisao is somewhat wary of the army under his command. I was concerned that Bo Leng, far away in Shendu, might cause trouble during your ascension. Now, however, it seems he supports you."
"Are you nervous?" Mo Yinhe asked her again.
Si Mingjing turned her head. Through the glass canopy, she saw the people on both sides of the road, craning their necks and waving at her, calling out for Her Majesty the Queen. She shook her head and said, "I’m alright."
Then, Si Mingjing reached out and waved to the crowd outside.
The Imperial Capital was vast; touring its main thoroughfares took a full two hours.
After completing the circuit, the submarine honor guard stopped before the outer walls of the Royal Palace. The area was packed with people, and atop the city wall stood all of the Mu Continent’s most important officials.
Amidst the ceremonial music, Mo Yinhe disembarked from the submarine first. Standing outside, he lifted her out.
Under the gaze of the national broadcast cameras, Mo Yinhe held her hand, their fingers interlocked, as they ascended the stairs step by step onto the city wall.
They stood atop the city wall, accepting the adoration of the populace.
Before reviewing the armed forces, Si Mingjing stood at the central position and delivered her national address.
She had memorized the speech three days in advance, and now she spoke eloquently and powerfully, without the slightest error.
After she finished, the high-ranking officials of the Mu Continent, standing in several rows behind her, burst into enthusiastic applause, and thunderous clapping resounded throughout the venue.
Finally, Si Mingjing set aside her prepared speech and made a solemn oath, "My dear citizens, after tens of thousands of years, I, Si Mingjing, have returned!
"Tens of thousands of years ago, I never imagined my nation could thrive and prosper underwater. Today, tens of thousands of years later, standing here, I want to tell all of you that I shall not disappoint your expectations. I will do everything in my power for the peace and security of the Mu Continent, for its prosperity and strength, and contribute everything I possibly can!"
