Chapter 497 Si Mingjing: Who is my heir? 2
After Sheng Liuyun figured it out, he called Si Lisao and said, "I’ve got it! Mo Yinhe is trying to achieve his goals through a roundabout strategy! The policies he implemented in Atlantis were met with resistance from the other three countries. Isolated by them, he couldn’t break free. Now, an opportunity has arisen: he can become the Male Empress of the Mu Continent. He intends to implement his policies here on the Mu Continent—that must be it. Mo Yinhe is ruthlessly ambitious; I knew there was no way he would give up his career so easily. He wants to achieve immense success in one fell swoop!"
Si Lisao was also pondering this issue. He had thought about it all night and didn’t feel that Mo Yinhe becoming the Male Empress of the Mu Continent was a good thing for it. His political ideology could influence Mingjing, and Mingjing’s decisions could shape the future political landscape of the Mu Continent.
Sheng Liuyun lowered his voice and said, "He wishes!"
Having said that, he hung up and called Bo Wei’s support team, instructing the staff to remove the trending topic. He wasn’t going to pave the way for Mo Yinhe, allowing him to gain a reputation as a loving husband while also aggressively pursuing his ambitions on the Mu Continent!
By the time Si Mingjing regained consciousness, the trending topic was already gone. No matter how many people scoured Bo Wei, they couldn’t bring that trending topic back into the limelight.
Mo Yinhe didn’t care, as he could guess why the trending topic had suddenly disappeared. If he were in their shoes, he’d be overthinking it too. Besides, he truly believed that he could be the man behind Mingjing, offering her strategic advice and continuing to promote his political ideology! Isn’t there a saying that behind every successful woman stands a man who devises astute strategies? His political ideology was well-implemented in Atlantis; it was time to start expanding to new territories on a different map!
Si Lisao was the kind of person who would nip a problem in the bud once he noticed the slightest hint of trouble. He would not allow Mo Yinhe to come to his territory and aggressively push his agenda!
Si Lisao organized a meeting with the Mu Continent’s senior leaders that spanned from morning till afternoon, solely focusing on how to address Mo Yinhe’s plan to become the Male Empress of the Mu Continent. In the meeting room, everyone was on high alert.
Finally, by evening, they had developed a specific and feasible plan to thwart Mo Yinhe’s intentions of furthering his ambitions on the Mu Continent.
「The next day」
Si Lisao specifically sought out Si Mingjing to talk about matters related to her upcoming enthronement. The meeting took place in Si Lisao’s administrative office, which was located in the front courtyard of the Royal Palace.
The Royal Palace was divided into the Front Palace and the Back Palace. The Front Palace housed the Mu Continent’s highest administrative executive building. It was solemn and majestic, with a vast, imposing, and monumental square in front that embodied the supremacy of royal authority. The Back Palace comprised living quarters and resting rooms, equipped with various top-tier luxury facilities, offering ultimate comfort.
After being admitted to the Royal Palace, Si Mingjing had frequented the Back Palace, but she had yet to visit the Front Palace—this was her first time.
「In the morning」
A routine flag-raising ceremony took place at the Front Palace square, attracting many citizens who gathered to witness this solemn event.
Si Mingjing had not yet officially taken office, but she was the most beloved by the people. Standing atop the city wall of the Front Palace, she looked down at the square below and waved to the distant crowd.
Instantly, the square erupted with excitement as people craned their necks, eager to catch a glimpse of the Queen’s elegance. Cheers and greetings rose and fell in waves.
Si Mingjing, high above, smiled faintly, responding in the most approachable manner to the exuberant crowd, and then entered the grand and solemn executive building. Si Lisao’s office was on the top floor.
With someone leading the way, office workers bowed and greeted Si Mingjing all along the path. Finally, Si Mingjing took a private elevator to the top floor and, through a long corridor, entered Si Lisao’s office.
Si Lisao was reviewing documents. He gestured for her to sit and asked her to wait for a moment. An assistant brought in coffee.
Si Mingjing picked up the coffee cup and walked to the floor-to-ceiling windows. She watched the crowds on the square that had not yet dispersed and glanced at the bright yellow national flag. The flag bore a dragon coursing through clouds, looking very mighty and awe-inspiring.
Several minutes later, Si Lisao finished the matters at hand, stood up, and walked over to the sofa, saying, "Come sit."
The sofa in Si Lisao’s office was a standard executive reception set, with two single sofas and a small table between them, suitable for discussing official business.
Si Mingjing walked back from the floor-to-ceiling window, placed her coffee cup on the small table, sat down, and asked him, "What’s the matter?"
"Previously, you said you didn’t want to manage a country," he stated.
Si Mingjing nodded slightly.
Si Lisao continued, "Yesterday, I discussed this in a high-level government meeting, and we’ve decided to respect your choice."
Si Mingjing raised her eyebrows slightly. She didn’t have to be Queen anymore?
"You will be the political leader in spirit, while the management of the state will be entrusted to a Prince Regent."
"A Prince Regent? Who?" she inquired.
Si Lisao lightly uttered one word, "Me."
Si Mingjing understood. "So, this means that real power remains in your hands, and I just play the role of a nominal Queen?"
"Correct, until a successor is chosen. In the future, I will hand over royal power to your successor."
Si Lisao had held meetings all day, determined not to give Mo Yinhe any opportunity to take advantage. They didn’t need Mo Yinhe to renounce his throne only to come to the Mu Continent to achieve fame and fortune.
"Who is my successor?" she asked.
"Chosen from your children," he replied.
"Xiaobai? Shurong? Liangliang? Xiaosu?"
Without confirming, Si Lisao said, "It will depend on their abilities. The choice of successor is not yet decided and will be made based on future assessments."
In his heart, he actually favored Ye Jingzhe more. However, whether Ye Jingzhe could ultimately pass the assessment would depend on his own capabilities. The master can lead the apprentice to the door, but cultivation is up to the individual.
In selecting a successor, Si Lisao was always strict. He wanted to choose a true leader for the Mu Continent, someone who could lead it towards a better tomorrow.
Si Lisao said, "If you have no objections, then it’s settled."
Si Mingjing raised her eyebrows and asked, "What about my grand wedding with Mo Yinhe?"
"Approved," he affirmed.
"Good!"
Si Mingjing had never been confident in her ability to be a good Queen. The burden was too heavy; she was only adept in medicine. She had the intellect, but she believed managing a country was beyond her. One must have self-awareness and not be blindly arrogant!
Si Lisao added, "If you like Western medicine, you can study it systematically. You’re still young, and many medical students are older than you. It’s not too late to start now. The Imperial Capital has the best Western medical university in the four Undersea nations, although it doesn’t have a university for traditional Chinese medicine."
Si Lisao still remembered her interests and encouraged her to pursue them. To have an interest in life and to learn it well is a rare thing. Si Lisao had dreams and interests as a child too; his interest had not been in managing a country, but the heavy burden on his shoulders prevented him from turning his interest into a career. So, when she expressed her interest in Western medicine, Si Lisao was supportive of her learning. The happiest way to live is to delve deeply into what truly interests you.
