My Dragon Baby and Billionaire Husband

Chapter 467: Ye Jingzhe’s Birthday with Dad and Mom 2

Chapter 467: Ye Jingzhe’s Birthday with Dad and Mom 2

Ye Jingzhe didn’t make a sound. He didn’t want to make another wish either. He puffed up his cheeks and blew out the five little candles on the birthday cake with all his might.

Si Mingjing, slow to realize, said, "Auntie hasn’t sung you the birthday song yet."

"It’s enough, thank you, Auntie Si."

"We’re going to sing it."

Si Mingjing gave Mo Yinhe a look, and the two of them sang the "Happy Birthday" song for the child together.

A warm current seemed to surge within Ye Jingzhe, the Little Bingshan, but he didn’t show it. He just sat stiffly, afraid that others would glimpse his joy.

Five-year-old Little Bingshan felt that he lived in perpetual darkness every day, an eternal night where he needed to run incessantly, to keep running and keep going. As long as he persisted, as long as he worked hard, he would be able to escape this eternal night, live under the sun, and enjoy days where he was in charge, could do as he pleased, and everyone would bow down to him!

This was his goal: to become strong enough to surpass Crown Prince Lisao, who was high above and whose words carried immense weight.

Si Mingjing cut the cake into three pieces, one for each of them.

As she ate her cake, she smiled brightly at Mo Yinhe, her smile radiant. "Did you really come back just to celebrate this child’s birthday? You seem to really like him. How about we make this child our godson?"

Mo Yinhe’s eyes were filled with deep emotion. He felt the child’s temperament was similar to his own and tilted his head to ask Ye Jingzhe, "Would you like that?"

"I don’t want to." Ye Jingzhe, the Little Bingshan, quietly ate his cake, his answer firm.

Both Si Mingjing and Mo Yinhe felt a sense of regret upon hearing this.

"I have a mother, and I will find my mother!"

Ye Jingzhe coldly ate the small cake; the mother in his heart was irreplaceable by anyone!

Later, the waiter brought the dishes one by one. Si Mingjing served Ye Jingzhe, not continuing the previous topic.

After the last dish was served, the waiter bowed and stood beside them, saying, "Sir, Madam, all your dishes have been served. Tomorrow is Children’s Day, and our restaurant is launching a three-day parent-child event. We’re offering to take a family photo for you, hang it on our photo wall, and give you a 20% discount on your meal."

"That sounds quite nice." Si Mingjing was interested.

Although they weren’t a family of three and didn’t lack money, Si Mingjing used this as an excuse to ask Ye Jingzhe, "Little friend, is that okay? With a 20% discount, Auntie can save quite a bit of money."

Ye Jingzhe pursed his lips, neither agreeing nor refusing. His icy little face seemed to say: Whatever.

Mo Yinhe decisively asked, "How is it done?"

"Sir, Madam, please wait a moment," the waiter replied. He left to fetch the camera and returned, holding it up. "Dad and Mom, please get a bit closer to the little friend. And little friend, please smile."

Mo Yinhe and Ye Jingzhe both wore stoic expressions. Even Si Mingjing’s smile wasn’t entirely natural in front of the camera; none of them were used to having their photos taken.

The waiter felt this wouldn’t work, as it wouldn’t capture the warmth of a family of three.

After thinking for a moment, the waiter suggested, "How about this: Dad holds the little friend, Mom stands beside them and gently touches the little friend. Everyone relax a bit, act natural, and I’ll just take a candid shot."

Ye Jingzhe, the Little Bingshan, felt the waiter was being too fussy. With a haughty expression, he said, "We’re not taking any."

The next second, however, Mo Yinhe picked him up and held him in his arms.

Ye Jingzhe struggled awkwardly for a moment, but then Si Mingjing planted a kiss squarely on his cheek.

CLICK! The camera captured Ye Jingzhe’s awkward yet bashful expression, and the hint of a smile that touched Mo Yinhe’s lips when he saw the boy’s sudden shyness.

The photos could be printed instantly.

The waiter printed two copies: one for them and one to hang on the photo wall.

"Happy birthday, little friend."

"Could you please print another one?" Si Mingjing asked.

She wanted to keep one and also give one to Ye Jingzhe.

"Of course, Ma’am."

The waiter printed another one.

Ye Jingzhe haughtily jumped down from Mo Yinhe’s arms, returned to his seat, wiped his small face with an air of disdain, and said, "How boring. Auntie Si, if you’re short on money, I would have treated you and Uncle to this meal."

But when Si Mingjing handed him the photo, he glanced at it, then quickly unzipped his backpack, opened his pencil case, and placed the photo inside.

Ye Jingzhe was actually very pleased with how the photo turned out; he just refused to admit it.

Si Mingjing then asked the waiter, "Do you have a digital version? Please send it to me as well. Little Ye Jingzhe, would you like the digital version?"

"No!" Ye Jingzhe focused on eating, his words feigning disinterest. "It’s nothing special to look at, just so-so."

The waiter sent the digital copy to Si Mingjing.

Hearing the child’s apparent lack of interest, Si Mingjing didn’t send it to him.

After taking a couple of bites, Ye Jingzhe sneaked a peek at Si Mingjing. He wanted the digital copy but was too embarrassed to ask, feeling slightly frustrated.

After finishing the meal, Ye Jingzhe hopped down from his chair and said, "Auntie Si, I’m going to the restroom."

"Do you want Uncle to go with you?" Si Mingjing asked.

"No need."

Ye Jingzhe walked away with his cool little stride, not towards the restroom, but in search of the waiter from earlier.

"Little friend, is there something I can help you with?"

Ye Jingzhe looked around, making sure neither his uncle nor aunt had followed. Then, raising his small head with an air of importance, he said, "I want the digital version."

"What?"

"Don’t make me say it a second time!" Ye Jingzhe’s expression turned formidable, clearly not one to be trifled with.

Si Mingjing had Mo Yinhe go settle the bill. When he returned with an amused look on his face, Si Mingjing raised an eyebrow, curious. "What’s so funny?"

Mo Yinhe leaned over and whispered something into his beloved wife’s ear. Si Mingjing also started to smile. "This kid is quite amusing." He said he didn’t want it, then snuck off to ask the waiter for it. It seemed they really couldn’t take his words at face value.

Unaware that the two adults had found out about his quest for the digital version, Ye Jingzhe returned contentedly, pretending as if nothing had happened. Full from the meal and with his small backpack on, he announced, "Uncle, Auntie, I’m going home now."

Si Mingjing asked him, "Would you like to go for a walk with Uncle and me?"

Ye Jingzhe replied again, "There’s nothing interesting to see around here."

Mo Yinhe and Si Mingjing exchanged a glance. Deciding not to take his protests at face value, they each took one of Ye Jingzhe’s hands, one on each side.

While holding his hand, Si Mingjing said, "Auntie hasn’t been on Mu Continent for long, and I haven’t had a chance to explore the area. Little Ye Jingzhe, you must be very familiar with it. Would you be our tour guide and show us around?"

"...Fine," he replied, his voice laced with reluctance.

Leaving the restaurant building, they found themselves on Mu Continent’s busiest pedestrian street. It was brightly lit in the evening and teeming with people.

The entire pedestrian street was covered by a transparent, waterproof barrier. Looking up, one could see many colorful fish swimming in the seawater above, their movements creating a captivating interplay with the strolling pedestrians below.

Ye Jingzhe looked up at the fish swimming above the pedestrian street, then glanced at the two adults holding his hands as they strolled. If Mom and Dad were here, he wondered, would they also hold his hands and wander around the pedestrian street like this?
