Chapter 463: She’s the King of Mu Continent? 2
Si Lisao smiled faintly. Though he disdained studying women, it didn’t mean he was ignorant of human nature. His smile was exceptionally faint as he said, "So, you mean to say you are my ideal match?"
That shallow, cold laugh gave the impression of someone looking down with disdain, as if mocking Bai Qingshui for her presumptuousness.
Bai Qingshui could feel how uncomfortable Si Lisao’s cold laugh made her.
Her heart ached terribly, overwhelmed by the pain of not obtaining Si Lisao’s affection. Her voice choked, "W-what’s wrong with me?"
She had tried so hard to win Si Lisao’s attention. For him, she had forsaken her own appearance and learned all sorts of things Bai Jiusi was adept at. Many of these things were not her actual interests or hobbies; in fact, she had no interest in them at all. But to draw Si Lisao’s gaze, she would strive to learn them and excelled in doing so.
She had given up so much for him. Was it all for nothing, like a pebble thrown into the ocean, causing not even the slightest ripple?
Si Lisao, with one hand lazily tucked in his pocket, asked indifferently, "Whether you’re good or not, what does that have to do with me?"
"How does it not have anything to do with you?"
Bai Qingshui was extremely enraged. She had tried so hard for him to notice her; she had given up so much for him. How could Crown Prince Si Lisao speak so nonchalantly, as if it had nothing to do with him?
As the daughter of the Bai Family on the Mu Continent, where women were revered, she could have had a grandiose life, marrying a rich and handsome man who would become part of the Bai Family to be doted on and pampered!
And yet, for him, she had given up all those excellent privileges. How could he say it had nothing to do with him?
But Si Lisao poured cold water on her expectations, his words cold and merciless, "Just because you’re good, I should pay attention to you? There are plenty of good women in the world. If I were to take notice of every good woman simply because she’s good, I would have become a ’Sea King’ long ago!"
Bai Qingshui’s head buzzed. She bit her lower lip so fiercely that she drew blood. "What about Ye Siyuan then? You never even gave Ye Siyuan a glance before! Why are you chasing her now? It doesn’t matter whom you pursue, but why must it be her? What do you see in her?"
As Bai Qingshui cried while questioning, she felt aggrieved. She believed that her love for Si Lisao ought to be reciprocated.
She couldn’t accept her failure, the failure of not catching Si Lisao’s eye. It would not only strike at her self-esteem but also render her unable to find meaning in life.
Si Lisao was the entire meaning of her life.
"If I like her, I like her. What’s with all the whys?"
Si Lisao had no interest in providing Bai Qingshui an answer, simply stating, "When fate arrives, it can’t be stopped. Without fate, forcing it is useless."
Tears streamed down Bai Qingshui’s face. "I refuse to accept this! I just can’t!"
Si Lisao also had no interest in soothing Bai Qingshui’s emotions. His visit today was precisely to tell Bai Qingshui to stop her foolish antics and to crush her hopes!
"Bai Qingshui, you and I are not fated to be. Wake up. Also, I find your current face truly unsettling."
Si Lisao waved his hand and commanded, "Take her to the plastic surgery hospital. Let her be herself again!"
"No! Don’t! Don’t ruin my face! This is my face! This is my face..."
Bai Qingshui struggled fiercely, but the guards were unmoved and dragged her away.
Bai Chuanfeng stood up, wanting to intervene.
Si Lisao turned around, casting a sharp glance at Bai Chuanfeng. "Madam Bai, you are a wise woman. You should understand my meaning. When parents love their children, they plan for their long-term well-being. I’m sure you know what to do. Farewell!"
Bai Chuanfeng collapsed into her chair, filled with regret. She truly regretted allowing her daughter to fall for a man who never took her seriously!
The title of Crown Princess Consort, however grand, was nothing compared to her daughter’s lifelong happiness!
If I had known Si Lisao could be so heartless, I should have nipped my daughter’s first stirrings of affection in the bud.
Si Mingjing received news that Si Lisao had taken Bai Qingshui away. She sat in the courtyard organizing her medical cases, thinking that her courtyard would probably welcome a guest soon.
As expected, an hour later, Bai Chuanfeng arrived at her courtyard.
Bai Chuanfeng looked somewhat haggard. In sharp contrast, Si Mingjing was leisurely reclining in her chair, appearing elegant and indolent. The sight ignited extreme resentment in Bai Chuanfeng!
Si Mingjing was behind all of this!
If Si Mingjing had immediately publicized what she found—Qingshui hiding something under Ye Siyuan’s bed—instead of biding her time and waiting for Qingshui to fall into the trap, things would never have developed this way. This adopted daughter surely couldn’t be kept at home!
Bai Chuanfeng regretted bringing her back from Atlantis!
What she brought back was a wolf in sheep’s clothing!
"Mother," Si Mingjing said, putting down her medical cases and rising to greet her. "Why have you come?"
Bai Chuanfeng had no desire to engage in empty pleasantries with Si Mingjing. Si Mingjing had been on the Mu Continent for less than half a month, and already Qingshui had suffered such a great fall because of her. Bai Chuanfeng now saw Si Mingjing as a venomous snake with a smile. "Mingjing, your husband has left. Why didn’t you persuade him to stay a few more days?"
"Yinhe has already stayed with me for a week. He has many state affairs to attend to and must return to deal with them. Besides..."
Si Mingjing intentionally paused, her expression troubled. "He’s been very unhappy. Since last night, he hasn’t given me a pleasant look. I wanted to persuade him to stay a few more days, but I couldn’t bring myself to say it, especially after such an unpleasant incident."
"Really? Rumor has it that he dotes on you immensely, that he’d pamper you to the heavens."
"Mother, you’re experienced. How could you not understand? People have to maintain a public persona."
Si Mingjing, not even blinking, spoke ill of Mo Yinhe, "He needs the ’wife-doting fiend’ persona to win public favor. If he truly pampered me that much, I wouldn’t be here reviewing medical cases and figuring out how to earn money. He doesn’t even give me regular spending money."
ACHOO!
Sitting on the airplane, Mo Yinhe, who had been resting his eyes, suddenly sneezed.
Bai Chuanfeng said, deliberately feigning anger, "So why would you marry such a man? Qu Liushang from Gendaya still hasn’t forgotten you. If you’re willing, Mother could help arrange your marriage. Qu Liushang’s reputation in Gendaya is on the rise again; it probably won’t be long before he reclaims the position of Crown Prince."
Si Mingjing smiled but didn’t respond to that. She asked, "Mother, did you come to see me for a specific reason?"
"Crown Prince Si Lisao took your sister away, Mingjing. I heard Crown Prince Si Lisao accepted you as his sworn sister. Could you please ask him to be lenient with her?"
Si Mingjing’s eyes flickered, a hint of concern in their depths. "Of course. I’m just not sure if Brother Crown Prince will do me this favor."
Having said that, Si Mingjing caressed her ring-cellphone, her manner eager. "Regardless, I’ll try my best. Mother, I’ll call Brother Crown Prince right now. She’s my only biological sister; how could I possibly stand by and do nothing?"
Bai Chuanfeng was unsure whether her concern was genuine.
But she was satisfied with Si Mingjing’s action of actually making the call.
Si Mingjing put the call on speaker. As soon as it connected, she said urgently, "Brother Crown Prince? I heard you took my little sister away. Could you please let her go? She’s my only sister, and my mother is right here with me, worried sick..."
Before she could finish, Si Lisao interrupted in a cold, heavy tone, "Little Sister, I advise you not to get involved in this. Otherwise, our sworn sibling relationship ends here!"
With that, Si Lisao hung up, showing no consideration for her feelings whatsoever!
