Chapter 389: Cutting Blood to Save Mother, Dragon Blood! 2
Mo Yinhe turned around and saw Si Mingjing wearing his shirt, standing under the light, her figure slim and elegant, her eyes betraying her fatigue.
Mo Yinhe pinched out the cigarette in his hand and walked towards her.
Si Mingjing smelled the tobacco on him and frowned.
"So you smoke?"
She had never seen him smoke before and thought he didn’t.
Mo Yinhe didn’t use to smoke. However, during those five years she was gone, the long nights stretched on. He often found it hard to sleep because he missed her so much, resorting to tobacco to fend off the longing.
Mo Yinhe said with self-reproach, "I won’t smoke anymore."
"Mm, smoking is bad. It turns your lungs black."
Mo Yinhe reached out, gently stroking her tresses.
"How’s Auntie doing?"
Si Mingjing looked down, her spirits somewhat low. "I’ve done all I can. If she doesn’t show any improvement within six hours, then there’s nothing more I can do..."
"She will."
Mo Yinhe pinched her cheek. "I believe in your medical skills, Mingjing. You are someone who can bring hope to others."
She was a bit tired—exhausted, sleepy, and very hungry.
It was already past midnight.
Mo Yinhe was about to call home to have some late-night snacks delivered.
Si Mingjing shook her head. "Forget it, the storm is so fierce. When I was delivering the medicine, the helicopter nearly got blown into the sea. I can hold on. I won’t leave the hospital tonight in case there’s any situation where I’m needed."
At that moment, she smelled the aroma of instant noodles.
The nurses on duty at the nurse’s station were probably also hungry and were eating instant noodles.
Si Mingjing swallowed hard.
She said, "Why don’t you ask the nurses at the station if they have any extra instant noodles? One bowl would be enough for me."
Given the dire weather and special circumstances, Mo Yinhe didn’t insist on making the call. He went to the nurse’s station to ask for instant noodles.
The young nurse did have some left, but only one cup.
The young nurse eagerly prepared it for Mo Yinhe, feeling deeply honored.
Worried that Mo Yinhe might be hungry, the young nurse even offered the two pieces of chocolate she had bought for herself.
The perks of being handsome are universal.
And who was Mo Yinhe, after all?
Being able to speak with him, even just for a moment, made the young nurse feel extremely fortunate.
Mo Yinhe returned with the instant noodles. Si Mingjing was sitting on a chair in the corridor, her head lowered, stifling a laugh.
Mo Yinhe had no idea why she was laughing and found it inexplicable.
"What’s so funny?"
"From now on, whenever I’m hungry and there’s nothing to eat, I’ll just send you out to use your charm. That will ensure I never starve."
Mo Yinhe realized what she meant and pinched her cheek hard.
"You little rascal!"
Si Mingjing sat in the corridor eating the instant noodles. After a couple of bites, she remembered to ask, "Have you eaten?"
Mo Yinhe naturally hadn’t eaten dinner either.
So, Si Mingjing brought the noodles to his mouth. "You have a bite too."
Mo Yinhe lowered his head and took a bite. He wasn’t very hungry, but he enjoyed the affection of her feeding him.
"Mingjing, you really are a good wife and mother."
Si Mingjing laughed. "Stop with the smooth talk!"
Still, Mo Yinhe was considerate. After eating a couple of bites, he said, "You eat. I’m not hungry. Just leave me the soup."
She ate the noodles, and he drank the soup. That way, nothing was wasted.
After they finished the bowl of noodles, Si Mingjing finally remembered, "Has Uncle eaten?"
In Si Mingjing’s eyes, her aunt and uncle were still strangers, so she hadn’t thought much about them. Only after eating her fill did she have the energy to consider others.
Mo Yinhe stuffed the two chocolate bars into her hands. "He can’t eat right now. No need to force him."
In the hospital room, Tao Chengzhou was probably experiencing every second as an eternity, hardly in the mood for food. Thus, Mo Yinhe wouldn’t press him to eat anything. He was actually more eager to feed his own ’baby’.
Si Mingjing didn’t hesitate and ate both chocolate bars. She needed to replenish her energy to keep her mind alert for treating patients. She believed in balancing work and rest; attending to patients while exhausted was irresponsible.
So, after eating the chocolates, she leaned against Mo Yinhe and closed her eyes to sleep.
She rested her head on Mo Yinhe’s lap.
Mo Yinhe looked down, tenderly doting on her.
Si Mingjing slept for three hours. In the quiet of the night, she was jolted awake by Tao Chengzhou’s shouts. Heart-wrenching cries echoed from the hospital room:
"Danfeng, don’t leave me! Please don’t leave me! Doctor! Doctor..."
Mo Yinhe had also been dozing lightly. Both of them startled awake at the same time and rushed into the hospital room.
"What happened?" Si Mingjing’s mind was still foggy.
Tao Chengzhou pointed at the bedside monitor. The display showed an extremely faint heartbeat, almost a flat line.
Si Mingjing quickly took Bai Danfeng’s pulse.
After doing so, her face turned pale.
The next second, she walked over to Mo Yinhe, took the keychain hanging from his waist, and picked out a Swiss Army Knife from it.
"What are you doing?" Mo Yinhe hadn’t had a chance to stop her.
Si Mingjing wielded the Swiss Army Knife and cut open her palm.
Mo Yinhe’s expression changed drastically as he saw the blood drip from the center of her hand into a white porcelain bowl. His heart felt as though it were being constricted by steel wire. He felt her pain. He wanted to explode in anger but held back, knowing she wouldn’t harm herself without good reason.
"Mo Yinhe, go to the nurse’s station and get a syringe," she ordered.
Mo Yinhe immediately turned and left.
Shortly after, he returned with a syringe.
Si Mingjing used the syringe to directly inject her own Dragon Blood into Bai Danfeng’s body.
The head nurse, who had followed him in, saw Si Mingjing’s unprofessional and crude method of transfusion and yelled,
"My God! How could you do that? Don’t you have any medical knowledge? You can’t transfuse blood like this! Stop it! Stop it now! You’ll kill the patient!"
Before she could finish, Mo Yinhe had someone escort her out.
Tao Chengzhou, too, was stunned, standing by, hesitating to speak. He didn’t know whom to trust.
"I’m doing this to save her life!" Si Mingjing explained.
Tao Chengzhou didn’t trust Si Mingjing, but he believed Mo Yinhe would not harm his wife. Seeing Mo Yinhe dismiss the nurse, he swallowed his doubts.
Three minutes later, the monitor began to show fluctuations in the heartbeat.
Tao Chengzhou was so overcome with joy and relief that he cried out.
A man in his fifties, he could not contain his sobs. Nobody stopped him, nor did anyone have the capacity to console him.
After Si Mingjing had injected half a bowl of her blood into Bai Danfeng, Mo Yinhe rushed over and grabbed her hand.
Somehow, a bottle of Yunnan Baiyao Medicine had appeared in his hand.
As he poured the medicine onto her palm, he scolded her in a parental tone, "You’ve completely disregarded what you promised me tonight, you woman who goes back on her word!"
She had promised him tonight that she wouldn’t get hurt!
Mo Yinhe was heartbroken. He poured Yunnan Baiyao Medicine into the palm of her hand and then wrapped it with gauze.
It was a night of turmoil. Si Mingjing didn’t even have the presence of mind to worry about being scolded. Seeing the vital signs fluctuating, she quickly administered acupuncture to Bai Danfeng, not daring to delay for a moment...
