Now comes the really exciting part: what do you think the Ancient Gods are? And what about those oddities? This is my bold speculation.

Perhaps there are many Cultivators in our current environment. However, due to the emergence of the Ancient Gods, these Cultivators have either disappeared or chosen another way of life. Whether it's Lin'an City or the caves, in my view, both represent a path chosen by Cultivators.
