CHAPTER 122- Tension
CHAPTER 122- Tension
Two days later.
As usual, Liara entered the room and walked straight to Tony.
Sitting down, she looked at him with a confused smile.
—Have I made you emotionless?
Tony’s face showed no trace of emotion anymore.
Over the past few days, Liara had cut off his arms, then reattached them — without ever revealing her method. She had driven nails into each of his hands, then into his feet. Tony always screamed, always cried. But the moment it stopped, his expression turned into something unnaturally blank.
—You… what are you plotting behind that mask? Liara asked.
—Who knows… maybe your death, Tony answered in an ice-cold tone.
—Killing me is logical. But too predictable. Don’t you have anything more interesting to say?
—Do what you have to do and spare me your stupid voice, Tony spat.
Blinking, she sighed several times.
—Fine… fine.
She grabbed a sword and drove it deep into Tony’s right side. His eyes snapped wide open as the blade pierced through him.
Stepping back, Liara said:
—You’ll stay like this for two days, and then I’ll kill you in front of everyone, just like the others. Well… if you survive.

Leaving the room, Liara barricaded the door.
« Tony… you really are nothing like Kurdes. Breaking your mind seems impossible. You accept your mistakes so easily. I hope that madness you’ve been holding back kills you. But if you want one last fight… it’ll be my pleasure to rip your head off. »
Liara thought as she walked away.
Alone, Tony closed his eyes and began absorbing aether. He focused it into every wounded part of his body. He had noticed his body was healing — slowly.
He still felt the pain perfectly. But he had gotten used to it.
—Still… Liara, I can at least thank you for one thing. Thanks to you, I remembered how I fight.
He said, continuing to draw in aether. Pushing to reach rank seven.
..........
Meanwhile, down on the lower part of the island, at the inn.
Aconé was holding himself back from lunging at Dina.
She had just explained that she had abandoned Tony to his miserable fate.
—Calm down, Aconé. Beating her up won’t help Tony, Darlius told him.
Exploding, Aconé stood up and glared at Dina with pure rage.
—Tell me… I know we can’t save everyone. Our first attack alone is going to kill Payo clan members and slaves too. And I never complained about that, why? Because every single one of us is a murderer too. Yeah, we don’t stoop to the shit they do on this island. But we kill. The difference is we’re a team. We already lost Lucien — who the hell knows where he ended up. And now it’s been two full days of Tony getting tortured non-stop. Seriously!
Aconé snapped, fists clenched so tight they shook.
—Like I already told you, Aconé: once we’ve razed the surface of the island, we go get Tony. And you know damn well that’s the plan, or you’d already be gone. Only two days left, Darlius sighed, staring hard at the top of the island.
—Any word from Hikiri? Dina asked.
Sigh.
—Besides the fact he vanished the second we got to this island… nothing. Let’s hope he comes back. That kid has a gift for being forgotten, Darlius remarked — realizing he himself had forgotten Hikiri was even missing.
Two days later. Two hours before dawn. Final level of the prison.
Kurdes saw Dina step out of the shadows.
For the first time in a long while, fire lit up his face. Even without visible emotion, he was ready to charge into battle without fear or hesitation.
......
At the same moment, near the water.
Nuya threw something into the sea. The water instantly turned red and thick.
—I hope what you promised me actually works, Prince Kurdes.
