Chapter 1797: Abandoned Gu Castle
Chapter 1797: Abandoned Gu Castle
Xiao Zheng made his move, never showing mercy to his enemies.
As for why he incapacitated Jessica’s limbs, he had his considerations.
There are two reasons: The first is that for someone like Jessica, losing the use of her limbs is even more unbearable than death. After all, the immense disparity of falling from a master to a useless person is not something everyone can handle.
As for the second reason, it is relatively simple and straightforward.
Xiao Zheng feared Jessica would leak secrets.
After all, this wasn’t Huaxia, where access to information was restricted. If Jessica was truly connected with the mysterious figures occupying Xide Valley, his whereabouts being exposed could easily endanger Catherine.
The mysterious figures kidnapped Catherine to force Xiao Zheng to reveal himself. So as long as he remains hidden, the mysterious figures would hesitate, letting Catherine live a bit longer.
Upon realizing these reasons, Xiao Zheng felt inexplicably relieved.
Afterward, he ignored Jessica and returned straight to his hotel. After a simple shower and change of clothes, he discreetly set off under the cover of night.
The black Maserati slowly drove out of the hotel without disturbing anyone.
After getting in the car, Xiao Zheng entered Sedelger Valley, as Jessica mentioned, into the navigation system and indeed found information about the area. With the route planned, he quickly headed for the destination.
According to his current plan, he intended to infiltrate the valley unnoticed and rescue Catherine. Only after rescuing Catherine could he make his move without reservations.
Driving from night until dawn, Xiao Zheng finally arrived at a small town in Nish.
The renamed Xide Valley was a hundred kilometers away from the town. He now planned to stay in the town for a day to rest, then set off in the dead of night.
He found a random inn in the town, booked a room, and fell into a deep sleep on the bed.
He slept until around eight or nine in the evening before waking up gradually.
After having the innkeeper prepare a simple dinner for him, once he was satisfied, he got ready to set off.
An hour and a half later, Xiao Zheng finally arrived at the renamed Xide Valley.
The area was lush and undeveloped, a pristine landscape.
Parking his car on the roadside, Xiao Zheng began surveying the dense forest in front of him. A recent rain made the dense forest shrouded in mist under the moonlight, adding to its mystery.
"This truly is a perfect place for murder."
"No wonder the mysterious figures chose this place. Such a vast valley, finding where Catherine is held would indeed be quite difficult."
Xiao Zheng murmured softly, standing by the roadside.
Despite his words, he still wore a faint smile of confidence on his face.
While others might struggle to locate their target in such a vast forest, Xiao Zheng could. He closed his eyes and took a deep breath. A faint scent of blood lingered at his nose.
"Found it."
"No werewolf stench, just the scent of blood; this is indeed related to the Blood Clan."
Xiao Zheng slowly opened his eyes, having made a decision.
Without further hesitation, he rushed towards the direction of the blood scent. In the blink of an eye, his figure vanished into the dense forest. The vast Xide Valley seemed like a waking beast lurking in the thick night.
Once inside the dense forest, Xiao Zheng moved much more cautiously.
Though fast, he wasn’t as reckless as when outside the mountain. After all, the Blood Clan’s methods are incredibly strange and ever-changing. To ensure his movements weren’t detected by the mysterious figures, he advanced with utmost caution.
After half an hour, Xiao Zheng finally neared the mysterious figure’s encampment.
Here, the scent of blood in the air turned even stronger.
Faintly, Xiao Zheng felt like he was entering a battlefield, as the overwhelming scent of blood was almost unbearable, forcing him to cover his nose.
Continuing a few more miles, he finally discovered an abandoned ancient castle deep in the woods.
The castle’s outer walls were covered with vines, and its open windows gave it a rather eerie appearance.
By the moonlight, Xiao Zheng could vaguely see two tall, blond men sitting outside the castle. They were dressed in Western noble attire, with meticulously groomed hairstyles, posing a stark contrast to their surroundings.
As the breeze blew, their conversation fell perfectly into Xiao Zheng’s ears...
"Chris, we’ve been here for almost half a month. What exactly does the Family Head want to do? I’ve had enough of staying here. After half a month here, I feel like I’m turning into a crude werewolf."
"Less talking. The Family Head’s actions are none of our concern. If you don’t want to die, stop badmouthing the Family Head behind his back."
"I wasn’t badmouthing the Family Head; I just wanted to vent. By the way, have you heard? The enemy we’re dealing with this time is the Evil God, who made quite the name for himself in the West recently!"
Upon hearing this title, Chris was silent for a moment.
After an uncertain amount of time, he finally said, "Of course I know. Before coming here, didn’t the Family Head already inform everyone in the family?"
"Aren’t you afraid? Even Rob III died at his hands, and as for the Netherworld King, he..." Before his companion could finish, Chris interrupted him roughly.
Chris said angrily, "If you want to die, don’t drag me with you! The Netherworld King’s Divine Power is omnipresent. If you speak of him behind his back, you’ll die a far worse death than speaking ill of the Family Head!"
His companion turned pale with fear, saying, "I wasn’t trying to speak ill of the great Lord Netherworld, I, I just..."
He didn’t finish his sentence.
Even so, it left Xiao Zheng shocked.
"Could it be that the kidnapping of Catherine truly involves the shadow of Hades? But why? Why would he target me?"
Xiao Zheng frowned deeply, unable to figure out the reason.
On the other hand, Chris continued, "In any case, matters at the top are not something people like us should discuss. Just watch your words in the future, especially since we’re here to deal with the Evil God, which was solely the Family Head’s decision, and has nothing to do with the Netherworld King."
Chris’s words were merely meant to calm his frightened companion.
However, to Xiao Zheng, they brought immense joy.
