Chapter 350 - 302: Dismissal
Chapter 350 - 302: Dismissal
Cen Jin and Jiang Baizhou had been seated for about five or six minutes when Yu Feici walked into their sight with a shoulder bag. As she was looking around, Cen Jin spotted her at once and quickly raised her hand and shouted, "Feici, we’re here!"Yu Feici heard the shout, looked over, walked straight to them, and gulped down Cen Jin’s glass of juice. Then she exhaled comfortably, sat across from her, and Cen Jin scrutinized her for a moment, noticing the black baseball cap she was wearing and the beads of sweat on her forehead. She couldn’t help but tease, "Were you being chased like a spy?"
"Don’t even mention it. Just got off at Central Street, planning to come over, and Ji Ye’s idiot fans recognized me. Dammit, it’s too tragic. I had to run around two blocks here twice before shaking them off. I didn’t even run like this in school sports meets. If I had known that I had such good athletic skills, I wouldn’t have majored in journalism, should’ve gone to sports school! I might even have made the national team!" Yu Feici finally vented her frustration, saying with a face full of annoyance.
Cen Jin picked up the bottle and cup to pour her another glass of juice. She looked around, seeing some distance from the other tables but still asked quietly, "When do you and Ji Ye plan to end this fake relationship?"
Yu Feici gave her a grateful smile, took a sip from the cup, and shrugged, "He’s been ridiculously busy lately with nonstop events. There’s no time to discuss this with me. Besides, he’s so popular now; his agent would never agree to taking such a risky step. If it weren’t for him threatening my livelihood, I would never have compromised!" Afterward, she waved her hand dismissively, "Ah, forget about me, there’s nothing much to say about my troubles. By the way, you said there was a lead on that matter? Where is the person?"
"She hasn’t arrived yet. When she does, just say she’s my friend; don’t mention your profession. Initially, I thought it wasn’t a good idea for Jiang Baizhou to come, but since it’s dinner time now, it doesn’t feel right to send him off with takeout, it seems a bit pitiful."
Jiang Baizhou’s expression was somewhat complicated upon hearing this. He had been acting as a tag-along all afternoon, and now, it seemed he had to rely on sympathy to secure his spot at dinner.
No one has it worse than him; he’s really the most pitiful one, right?
"Do we have solid evidence now?" Yu Feici asked, glancing sympathetically at Jiang Baizhou while leaning toward the table curiously.
"We heard some crucial information today at noon from Aunt Han next door. So I’m planning to ask her. Although I haven’t known her for long, I hope she’ll be honest! If she speaks out, her words would be the best evidence, she’d be the best witness." Cen Jin secretly worried, fearing Liu Zhiyan might not admit it. At that point, she genuinely hadn’t decided what to do.
Yu Feici nodded, "Then I’ll speak less later. Do you need to record it on your phone? I think it’s essential; otherwise, what if An Yuyao outright denies it? It’s safer that way, isn’t it?"
Cen Jin pondered for a moment upon hearing this. Though she disliked that sort of approach, given the unusual circumstances, she glanced hesitantly at Jiang Baizhou, who nodded slightly in agreement with Yu Feici’s view and suggestion. Cen Jin then agreed to compromise.
At five past seven, the waiter came over to ask if they wanted to order. Cen Jin realized they’d been there for a while, and it felt a bit awkward to not have ordered anything yet, so she took the menu and ordered.
"Hey, what time did you arrange the meeting? Why aren’t they here yet? Could it be they don’t want to come?" Yu Feici supported her head with one hand, looking slightly impatient.
"Seven o’clock."
"Well, it’s already past seven!"
"Let’s wait a bit longer."
After waiting for about another five minutes, the first dish was served, and just then Liu Zhiyan arrived. Seeing the people around the table, she caught herself pausing slightly, especially upon noticing Jiang Baizhou’s cold yet handsome face and his icy gaze. She gulped internally with a chill and tightened her grip on her bag strap, walking over to nod in greeting, "Sister Cen Jin, Doctor Jiang."
"You’re here, please sit!" Cen Jin smiled gracefully, her demeanor unchanged from usual.
