Chapter 337 - 297: On Marriage Alliances_4
Cen Jin was dumbfounded, he could even guess this, she pouted: "By the way, they left, what about Lu Xize? Isn’t he at the consulting room?""He didn’t come this afternoon."
"What? Didn’t come this afternoon? Where did he go?"
"Uncle Lu took him to meet someone."
"Who?"
"What do you think?"
Cen Jin was stunned, then had a sudden realization: "Could it be..."
"Yes."
Cen Jin couldn’t help but smile: "Why is Lu Xize’s dad so eager? Isn’t his eldest brother not married yet? Why is he in such a hurry to set him up on a date?"
"Haven’t you seen the news?"
"What?"
"His older brother Lu Jingang has already announced his engagement in May, with the only daughter of the Mu Group. After the engagement, it seems both companies are preparing to merge into Lu Mu Group. The current chairman of the Mu Group is already elderly, and it’s her granddaughter Mu Lezhu managing it. Their performance has been good in recent years, but there’s significant internal controversy within the company. It seems Old Chairman Mu is worried that once he’s gone, Mu Lezhu won’t be able to withstand the scheming of those foxes coveting the company, thus this was a last resort."
Upon hearing this, Cen Jin understood. Although she hadn’t worked in a corporation and wasn’t a daughter of a financial magnate, she’s aware that family businesses are always full of open and hidden struggles. She’s read about Mu Group’s news in various media, and its current leader, Old Chairman Mu, is already 84 years old. There were reports earlier this year about his hospitalization due to health reasons. Her granddaughter was originally just a vice president, but when Old Chairman Mu was hospitalized, his confidants pushed Mu Lezhu to the position of president, preserving the Mu Group from changing its name.
"Why do you know so much about their corporate matters?" Cen Jin wrapped her arms around his neck, tilting her head in confusion.
"Xi Ze mentioned it to me before, and when it was announced recently, the media was covering it extensively."
"Really? How come I never saw it?" Cen Jin blinked in confusion.
"When have you ever paid attention to such news?"
Hearing this, Cen Jin pouted: "Alright! Indeed, so when can you leave? I’m hungry."
"Now." Jiang Baizhou laughed, pecked her soft lips twice, then reached out to close the folder on the desk, tidied things up a bit, turned off the phone, got up from the chair, grabbed his phone and coat, and led her out of the consulting room.
After they dined out and returned home, Cen Jin handed the invitation from Zhu Qinghan to Jiang Baizhou. He flipped through it, raised a brow: "She went to your studio today?"
"She came to try on her wedding dress at the studio today! She brought the invitation along. Senior’s wearing the wedding dress looked stunning. Do you want to see?"
Jiang Baizhou squinted, eyed her, and couldn’t help but laugh: "No need, in due time, I’ll just look at you."
Cen Jin giggled shyly, feeling a bit embarrassed, raised a brow: "Speaking of which, you go shower first! I still need to modify the design draft for tomorrow’s competition." With that, she waved her hand, returned to the bedroom, and started to modify her previous drafts.
Watching her serious demeanor, Jiang Baizhou’s lips curled slightly, and he turned to go find clothes to shower.
At nine the next morning, Cen Jin and Ye Lingran headed to the competition venue, where they unexpectedly encountered someone. Before she could greet them, An Yuyao sneered and mocked: "Oh, you joined this competition too! How overconfident."
Watching An Yuyao’s domineering manner, Ye Lingran leaned towards Cen Jin quietly asking: "Who is she?"
Cen Jin sighed helplessly, feeling a bit at a loss: "Senior’s cousin, from the same major, graduated from a renowned foreign academy. You get used to it, it seems she looks down on everyone but herself."
Ye Lingran understood and after giving Cen Jin a sympathetic glance, stood aside without interfering in their matter.
"Well, such a coincidence, Ms. An, you’re in the competition too. I thought someone like you with a prestigious academy background would disdain such a small competition, but I was wrong, so sorry." Cen Jin intentionally used an apologetic tone and gaze while faintly smiling, though her words carried a rare sharpness.
An Yuyao was momentarily blocked, her face flushed red. This competition wasn’t small; she deliberately boosted her proud education and academy, yet secretly belittled her, leaving An Yuyao speechless. If she rebuts, it would admit that her prestigious academy graduation isn’t much to boast about.
But if she counters the competition itself, news might reach the organizers and judges, possibly leading to disqualification.
Ye Lingran watched enthusiastically from the side; she knew Cen Jin, though gentle, isn’t easily manipulated. Rarely takes a loss in these matters, especially being around feisty friends like Yu Feici and Yun Xi, she’s influenced positively, occasionally uttering sharp, unsparing words.
"Well then, Ms. An, I won’t be keeping you, farewell." Cen Jin smiled slightly, pulling Ye Lingran as they turned to sit elsewhere.
An Yu clasped her fists tight, her gaze fuming with a hint of hatred, she snorted lightly, retracted her view, chose a nearby seat, yet her grip on the file bag tightened.
Soon enough, the competition organizer arrived, exchanged pleasantries before proceeding, and consigned the sketches for evaluation, promising to email results in two days. Rules for the second phase would be announced on the official website, and they revealed that each individual’s topics would differ.
After the organizers departed, Cen Jin didn’t feel anxious. Watching the gathered crowd in front engaged in discussions, including An Yuyao who joined excitedly, expressing it’s an honor to meet someone, Cen Jin found it amusing. She exchanged glances with Ye Lingran before leaving the venue together.
