Chapter 274 - 270: Switch the method

"Go away, you’re only six!" Cen Jin pushed him away irritably, then pulled the bed curtain closed, moving to the edge of the bed. "Do you have anything left to do? I’ll help you.""Almost done." Jiang Baizhou walked over, one hand in his pocket. "There’s just some dust on the headboard. A quick vacuum should do it."

"Then put away all the vacuum cleaner attachments, don’t leave them lying around. I’ll put the pillowcases on."

After clarifying their tasks, Jiang Baizhou took the vacuum cleaner out of the room and hung it on the wall at the corner landing on the first floor to charge. As he started to go back upstairs, the lights suddenly went out with a ’pop,’ his footsteps paused instantly, and he furrowed his brow, immediately thinking of Cen Jin and Miss Yu Hui. He instinctively reached for his pocket, only to remember he’d left his jacket—and phone—on the table while making the bed.

Now the whole house was pitch black, with not a glimmer of light, so he couldn’t see the stairs and had to feel his way along, step by step.

"Jiang Baizhou?"

As he gingerly moved up two steps, a sweet, soft voice tinged with a hint of nervousness came from above—Cen Jin’s voice. Soon after, a beam of light reflected in his dark pupils, and Cen Jin emerged using her phone’s light. Upon seeing him, her anxious expression transformed into a gentle smile, her steps no longer cautious as she quickly shuffled over to him.

Jiang Baizhou hurriedly went up to her, and as she approached, he grabbed her small hand and took the phone from her, asking softly, "Are you okay?"

Cen Jin shook her head, feeling calm immediately upon his touch. "Nothing, just got a fright when the power went out. Is it a blackout?"

"Looks like it." Jiang Baizhou tightened his grip on her hand. "Let’s check on my mom first, then I’ll look at the breaker later."

"Okay."

They reached the master bedroom door and Jiang Baizhou gently knocked. "Mom, are you asleep?"

There was no response from inside. Cen Jin gently nudged Jiang Baizhou, and he shot her a look before turning the doorknob with care, pushing the door open and shining the light inside. A silhouette lay sprawled on the bed, prompting Cen Jin to pull Jiang Baizhou back and quietly close the door. "If mom’s asleep, we shouldn’t wake her. Let’s go downstairs and check things out!"

Before heading down, they went to Jiang Baizhou’s room to grab their jackets and his phone. Upon reaching the breaker area on the first floor, Jiang Baizhou began inspecting it. Meanwhile, Cen Jin’s phone received a WeChat message from Shen Xiangchen asking if they had a power outage. As she replied, she tugged at Jiang Baizhou’s sleeve. "No need to check, it seems the whole neighborhood’s out. My cousin just messaged about the blackout and said the streetlights are off too."

Jiang Baizhou, not wanting to bother further, closed the breaker box and led her back to the living room. "So should we go upstairs to sleep, or go out to see the snow?"

"See the snow." Cen Jin replied without hesitation, grinning at him. "It’s too early to sleep; I wouldn’t be able to. Come out and watch the snow with me!"

"There are other things we could do." Jiang Baizhou lowered his gaze, looking at her with a hint of playfulness.

Cen Jin’s expression changed, glaring at him in mock anger. "Can you stop being cheeky?"

"It’s dark outside, and cold."

"It’s fine; we have phones for light. I just want to look at the snow, I don’t mind the darkness! And it’s not cold since I can wear my jacket. Let’s go!" Cen Jin playfully swayed his arm and started pulling him towards the door.

Upon exiting the villa, the snow on the ground had noticeably thickened since she’d arrived. The snow continued to fall heavily. Cen Jin stood in the yard, made a small snowball, then glanced at Jiang Baizhou. Seeing him looking up at the night sky with hands in pockets, snow settling on his hair, she smirked mischievously and hid the snowball behind her back, slowly approaching him.

When she was just over a step away, Cen Jin suddenly called out, "Hey, Jiang Baizhou!"

"Hmm?" Jiang Baizhou instinctively responded, starting to turn towards her, but before he could see her clearly, a snowball hit him squarely, leaving him momentarily stunned. Cen Jin ran away happily, her triumphant laughter echoing through the yard.

Jiang Baizhou watched her retreat, helplessly chuckling. What can you do with such a cheeky wife? Besides spoiling her, what else is there?

Ah, of course.

The answer was to catch her and give her a playful ’punishment,’ wasn’t it?

"Nie Cenjin, you’d better not let me catch you, or you’ll face the consequences yourself." Jiang Baizhou took a deep breath, brushed the snow off, his tone mild but eyes hinting at some menace, and chased after her.

Cen Jin saw his quick reaction and immediately started running. In the dark night, as snow blanketed everything, their joyous laughter filled the air with happiness.

In the end, as expected, short legs couldn’t outpace long ones. Cen Jin barely ran for two minutes before Jiang Baizhou caught her, not giving her a chance to escape. He seized her and lightly pecked her lips as a playful punishment, then effortlessly lifted her sideways, his face full of mischief. "So... how should I deal with you?"

"Hey! It was just one snowball. What about throwing one back?" Cen Jin pouted defiantly.

"I can’t bear to. Let’s try a different approach."

"Huh? What approach?"

"Guess."

"Jiang Baizhou, you’re shameless." Cen Jin struggled vigorously in his arms, but Jiang Baizhou carried her straight back into the villa.

"It’s the first snow, a lovely moment not to be missed."

The next day, Cen Jin woke up around eight-thirty. The sky outside remained overcast, the snow having stopped but leaving a stunning white landscape. As Cen Jin turned her head, she was met with Jiang Baizhou’s deep, ocean-like eyes, brimming with warmth and amusement. Cen Jin gave him an exasperated glare, swiftly putting on her jacket, commanding him, "Hurry up and get up. Mom should be awake by now; let’s not keep her waiting. I’ll go freshen up."

Jiang Baizhou, pleased and feeling great, cheerfully flipped the covers and got up, obediently dressing and going to freshen up after hearing his wife’s words.

By the time they went downstairs, Miss Yu Hui had already made breakfast. Cen Jin, feeling a bit guilty, said, "Mom, sorry. You already have a cold, and still you got up early to make us breakfast."
