My Alleged Husband

Chapter 582 - 561 Can’t Get_1

Chapter 582 - 561 Can’t Get_1

"Zhang Yichen, do you really think that by treating me this way, your wife will stay with you forever? You’re mistaken. Your wife has always been using you. She doesn’t love you at all; she’s only with you for the money. What makes you think she’ll sincerely spend her life with you?" Chen Gang shouted loudly at the retreating backs of the couple, unwilling to accept that the love he had finally secured could end like this. Unwilling to bear that the girl he had painstakingly waited for so many years would give him up for another man. Do I really mean nothing to them in their eyes?

Ran Zhihan, hearing these words from Chen Gang, finally understood. Her husband had been telling the truth all along, and this man had only professed his love for her to use her.

As Ran Zhihan walked, she looked up at her husband, unable to discern any expression on his face. She did not know what he was feeling. Could he be happy, or could he, her husband, be sad that she had done something to hurt and upset herself? But there was nothing she could do to remedy the situation.

Zhang Yichen seemed to understand the conflict within Ran Zhihan’s heart, but he too was at a loss for words. This mess was partly his fault, but he could never understand why his wife would betray him if he, as her husband, was at fault.

Did she really see him as expendable? Could someone else’s sweet nothings so easily lead her to betrayal? What place did he hold in her heart?

"If you have something to say, just say it. There’s no need to keep looking at me, stopping and starting. You look like you want to say something but won’t, and it’s irritating me now. You always had that look, and I would always let you have your way. But not today. You’ve hurt me. Speak directly; don’t try to fool me with roundabout expressions," he said.

"I know today’s mishap is my fault, and it’s hard for you to bear, but can you believe me? I never intended for this to happen. My only desire was to live a peaceful life with you, and I never imagined it would be so difficult or that he would do such a thing to me. Maybe it’s tough for you to accept, but do you think my heart isn’t in agony too?

I admit that in the past I was thoughtless, and I often hurt you without considering your feelings. Now, I have changed. I’m not living carelessly like before; everything revolves around you.

Because I want to spend my life with you. You may think my words are just lies to deceive you, but one day, you’ll see that everything I’ve said today is true. I’ll prove it with my actions; they’re not just lies meant to fool you.

I know I have no right to ask for your forgiveness, nor to expect you to overlook what happened as if it never occurred. The very thought of it disgusts me, let alone how you must feel.

I understand that no one could accept such a thing happening to them, especially not a man. You loved me so much, yet I hurt you for someone else, ruining our happy life together. How could you not be hurt? You didn’t confront me today because of our son, you spared me. I truly hope you’ll give me another chance and won’t rush to judge me because of this one incident. I’m not such a shameless person!"

"You didn’t need to say all this today. No matter what you were like before, I don’t know you now. I won’t foolishly believe everything you say anymore. You must prove the truth of your words with actions because what you did was unimaginable; it’s something I would never expect from the woman I love the most. I will never understand what you were thinking that night when you secretly met him, nor will I understand what went through your mind afterward," he retorted.

Ran Zhihan was painfully aware that this incident had likely depleted all the trust her husband had in her. He wouldn’t hold her in the same unyielding trust as before, much less stay devotedly by her side. He hadn’t brought up divorce simply because of their son and the pain it would cause his own father. She hadn’t realized that everything had been out of sheer necessity.

Chen Gang was in the warehouse, reflecting on all the expressions of the woman he loved. He couldn’t believe she had ultimately chosen not to trust him. He feared nothing, not even losing his life. All he needed was for his beloved to believe in him just a little, but the outcome slapped him hard in the face.

No matter what he did for the woman he loved, she never trusted him, and that skeptical look would haunt him for life. Yet, he couldn’t make the situation vanish as if nothing had happened.

He decided that if he couldn’t have her, no one else would.

Why should he, who waited abroad for so many years, toil to return, only to be met with the ultimate betrayal from the woman he loved the most...
