My Alleged Husband

Chapter 371 - 351 Test_1

Chapter 371 - 351 Test_1

Zhang Zhentian couldn’t accept that Xia Jing had decisively hung up on him. He repeatedly dialed her number, but ultimately, the line went dead.

"Do our 17 years of marriage mean so little to you? Are my years of kindness to you really unseen and unfelt in your eyes? I truly don’t know how else to treat you for you to see my heart truly holds you, for you to understand how important you are to me," Zhang Zhentian muttered to himself.

"Damn Zhentian, like a bad penny, always turning up. I’ve said it so many times and yet he keeps pestering me day after day. What on earth is he thinking? Can he really be that single-minded?"

Even though Xia Jing said this, her heart knew very well that her husband wouldn’t keep bothering her unless he loved her. If he didn’t love her, he would’ve let her go easily. The reason he couldn’t do it was because he still had her in his heart. But she couldn’t be with him because being together was too painful, having to endure so much suffering and giving up so much for him, only to be coldly kicked away. Yet, if she could turn back time, she would still choose to fall in love with Zhang Zhentian because they were fated to be together.

When Zhang Yichen saw the message from Ran Zhihan, it deeply touched his heart. He knew he had been too harsh before, and he shouldn’t have kept secrets from his wife. However, he couldn’t just give in—doing so would mean going back to a loving relationship with his wife, and inevitably, her parents would push for a divorce. He knew his in-laws well; he couldn’t do something so risky. He wanted his wife to spend a stable life with him.

Zhang Yichen couldn’t bear the thought of Ran Zhihan searching for him in vain because he had made it impossible for anyone to tell her where he was. He decided to send her a message, to at least give her some peace of mind.

"Don’t worry about me, I’m doing well. I’m fine on my own out here. You stay at home and take it easy. When you’ve figured things out, I will come back. Until then, please don’t send me any more messages because I won’t reply!"

Ran Zhihan had been anxiously waiting for a response from her husband. As soon as she heard the beep from her phone, she immediately checked it, delighted to see a message from him. She knew that no matter what happened between them, her husband always took her as seriously as life itself and would never heartlessly push her away. Now, her belief was confirmed and she felt incredibly moved, but as she read the message, her heart gradually sank.

"Husband, you’re such a fool, you’re the man I love the most. How could I possibly stay calm and collected at home without you by my side? Please tell me where you are, won’t you? I was wrong in this matter, and I shouldn’t have lashed out at you. I should have been more understanding, more accepting, and not always complaining. Please, forgive me!"

"Sorry, this wasn’t your fault to begin with, but we can’t keep blaming each other now. We both need to calm down. Continuing like this will bring no good to either of us. I’m sure you know very well that we care for each other, but all your decisions make it impossible for me to accept. I shouldn’t have lied to you; it’s my fault, and that deceit is what led to your complaints. But you shouldn’t have exploded at me either. After all, we’re husband and wife—shouldn’t we face things together? Is a little white lie worth your rage, making me lose face? Do you truly treat me as your husband? If you still see me as the man you need, then please stop doubting and complaining about me over and over again. I don’t ask for much; I just want to live happily with the one I love, to face any difficulties together, not to doubt and oppose each other. I was so touched by your loyalty in the beginning, but now your anger over this lie makes me doubt whether you’re the same girl I once loved so deeply. I hold you in such high regard, yet you react this way because I agreed to one of your parents’ unreasonable demands, perhaps not knowing why I accepted it—I did it for us. If you still have a place for me, your husband, in your heart, then please don’t bother me for now. Let’s give each other some quiet time to think about why we chose to be together and, having made that choice, why we’re now at odds. Why are you unwilling to understand me? These are the questions we need to ponder deeply. I don’t want us to be unhappy over any reason; I just want a simple life together, and that would be enough. Three years isn’t too short, nor too long, but I’m giving us three years to think clearly. If after three years, being with me is not giving you the happiness you seek, then you can ask for a divorce and leave. But, if after three years, you still want to build a future with me, I promise to never leave you, to be with you for all eternity. These three years are a test for us, for our fate and marriage. I hope these three years won’t disappoint me and that we won’t become strangers afterward."

"I understand why you’re doing this. Rest assured, I won’t bother you anymore. You go and take care of your business with peace of mind!"
