Chapter 348 - 328 Finally Married_1
Three days later, Ran Zhihan returned to City A. The first thing she did was to go and apologize to her parents.
When Ran Zhihan arrived at her home, she realized how much her parents had aged in those few days. Perhaps her departure had hurt them deeply, turning their hair white overnight, which made her feel somewhat guilty.
"Dad, Mom, your unfilial daughter has returned. How have you both been these past few days? I’m sorry, I’ve been too selfish. I shouldn’t have left you both alone over such a trivial matter. The fault is mine, and I promise I’ll never do it again. I’ll take on the responsibilities and duties of a daughter. Please forgive me for my willful mistake. Your hair has started to go white, maybe because my leaving has caused you both so much worry. I didn’t understand how much you cared for me, and made you worry at your age!"
Ran Zhihan’s parents, seeing their daughter return home, were too overjoyed to blame her. They only hoped to see their daughter safe and untroubled by their side; that was satisfaction enough. They did not crave wealth or status—only that their daughter could live happily her whole life, and that her marriage would not be torn apart or tormented by anyone.
"Child, it’s good you’re back. How could your parents blame you? Just knowing you are living peacefully is enough for us. We were wrong to oppose your relationship with that man. In our hearts, we knew he was a good choice. I only acted out of fear that marrying into his family could hurt you. Differences of social status aren’t easily resolved, not by a few words, acts, or even love. We didn’t want social disparity to cause you any emotional suffering after you were together. But when that boy promised us, in front of our very eyes, to love you and cherish you all his life, we felt reassured enough to marry you to him. We believe every word he told us, for he’s a child who doesn’t lie. The only thing we couldn’t accept at first was that you brought him home so directly, without informing us, your parents. That made us uncomfortable. You are our daughter; you should have at least told us about such a significant matter in your life. How could you decide to bring home your fiancé without discussing it with us? Did you bring him to assert your independence, to announce you’re getting married? Didn’t you plan to discuss your marriage with us at all? That’s why we said those things you and that boy. Perhaps my words damaged your relationship, but I believe he will love you just as before. I completely trust every word he said to us; his eyes showed a resolute honesty—a longing to be with the woman he loves. Child, you are the daughter we have painstakingly raised, our only child. Now that you are about to marry, to be honest, it’s hard for us to let you go. But as our daughter grows up, she must eventually fly on her own, seek her own sky, find her own piece of heaven. As parents, we can’t hinder your pursuit of happiness—that would be truly selfish. We hope our decision today will be the best one we ever make in our lives. We’ve decided to let you marry that boy. Now that you’re back, you can go ahead with the wedding plans, and we will no longer oppose you. However, we hope you both understand that a marriage can’t be sustained just by love alone. Love can grow stronger or fade over time. Don’t think that having each other’s love is like having the whole world—if you marry with that belief, you’re greatly mistaken. A happy marriage must be created and maintained by yourselves, with a bit more trust in each other. Don’t suspect or doubt who is good, who is bad, or who has what relationship with whom, because a marriage full of doubt cannot be happy..."
"Dad, Mom, I’m sorry for worrying you both. We are ready, and we plan to have the wedding ceremony in three days!"
"Good... that’s wonderful..."
The three days passed in a flash, but for Ran Zhihan, it felt like an eternity.
The day finally arrived. They were about to join hands and walk together on the path to a happy life.
"Welcome, everyone, to the wedding ceremony of my grandson and his bride. I am immensely grateful that you all could spare the time from your busy schedules to attend their nuptial celebration... Now, please welcome today’s newlyweds to the stage!" Old Master Zhang addressed the audience.
As Old Master Zhang finished his words, Ran Zhihan appeared, dressed in a pristine white wedding gown, holding a bouquet of spotless flowers. She wore princess-like crystal shoes and step by step, she walked toward the other end of the red carpet, where her own Prince Charming stood waiting. Zhang Yichen was dressed in a perfectly tailored suit, in pure white as well, looking absolutely stunning. Compared to one another, they seemed heaven-sent—a couple so evidently meant to be that it would be against the natural order for them not to share their lives together.
With her bouquet in hand and in her high heels, Ran Zhihan walked step by step toward the end of the carpet, following the melody of the music. Seeing the man she loved standing there waiting for her, she could hardly wait and quickened her pace, smiling as she ran towards her beloved.
"Today, I am very thankful that you have all come to join in the celebration of this couple’s wedding. They have shared so many stories and faced numerous trials together, yet in the end, they persevered through hardships, hand in hand, to be together. Doesn’t that prove that fate meant for them to share a lifetime together? Now, we wish the newlyweds a lifetime of love and happiness. Please, exchange your rings!"
Oh...
Wow...
Oh yeah...
The crowd cheered, watching the couple exchange their wedding rings, some of them overwhelmed with joy to the point of tears. Many relatives had watched every step of their journey, finding it hard to believe that this day, so wonderful and so hard-earned, had finally come. After so much adversity, this couple deserved such beautiful love.
