My Alleged Husband

Chapter 1312 - 1141: A Sacrifice Beyond Understanding

Chapter 1312 - 1141: A Sacrifice Beyond Understanding

Old Master Zhang couldn’t bear to watch his grandson suffer such harm anymore. He knew this was not what he wanted, but in the end, he was unable to make everything return to how it was.

"Yichen, Grandpa doesn’t understand, you love your parents so much. Why did you drive them out of the house? Isn’t this a form of harm for you too? Instead of both parties getting hurt, wouldn’t it be better to let them return and accompany you properly?"

"Grandpa, you know about many things. You understand why I made such a decision. Over the years, you’ve seen how many times I’ve cleaned up their mess without ever saying a word. I know that no matter what I do, I can’t escape your keen eye. You’ve always been watching my every move and theirs too. But did you know that after over ten years of cleaning up messes, I finally realized that no matter how I solve their mistakes, they’ll never think it’s their son making sacrifices for them? They only think about what benefits they can gain from me, never considering my lifelong happiness. Grandpa, I’m worn out from fifteen years of this. I don’t want my life influenced by them anymore. Over the years, I’ve struggled upward to let my family live better. But what was the result? What have I gained? By enduring the worst injuries, Grandpa, you understand that my actions aren’t solely for myself; they’re also for my parents. If they continue to make such mistakes mindlessly, they’ll eventually face legal consequences. I believe that’s a scene you don’t wish to see either. Perhaps by driving them out now, they’ll understand that things aren’t always as easy as following one’s desires, that violating laws isn’t an option because the law is stern and unforgiving. It’s just like how I drove them out today, showing no mercy."

"Child, I truly don’t know if your actions are right or wrong. Perhaps you won’t gain your parents’ understanding, but Grandpa still supports you in your choices!"

"Even if the whole world misunderstands me, even if I get no sympathy, as long as you, Grandpa, understand my heart, it’s enough. I don’t need everyone’s approval; I just need yours. With your support, I’ve become the emperor of the economic world. Grandpa, thank you for the enduring love you’ve shown me. Your teaching carved my achievements and empire today. Everything I have is thanks to you. Grandpa, you’ve given me the world, even though you only have me. With me having the world, you too have the world. You should feel happy always and not burden yourself with worries. I dislike seeing you frown. I prefer seeing a smiling Grandpa, who seems amiable and kind!"

"Child, you’ve truly grown. Grandpa is proud. With a grandson like you, I could die without regrets. Remember Grandpa’s words; keep your parents in your heart always. No matter what wrongs they commit, they are still your parents, who gave you life. Without them, I wouldn’t have taught you into the man you are today. Remember everything I said, and promise me you’ll keep this pledge."

"Grandpa, I’ve noted all your words in my heart. I will never forget your teachings. For the next few days, I need you to stay home alone. I’m off to the United States for a business trip. Grandpa, take good care and don’t miss me too much!" said Zhang Yichen cheerfully to Old Master Zhang. He was reluctant to leave his grandfather; regardless of where he went, he hoped to be close enough to see him, even from the ends of the earth.

Old Master Zhang listened to his grandson say goodbye with reluctance, and his eyes filled with tears. Even though his grandson often went overseas for business, this time felt particularly hard, perhaps due to the recent brush with life and death.

"Alright, then go. Remember to stay safe and call me once you’ve arrived, so I won’t worry!"

Zhang Yichen nodded, said nothing more, and walked out of the Zhang Family’s doors. He had already booked his flight, and with time pressing on, he needed to hurry to the airport within two hours before the plane took off.

Upon arriving in the United States, he encountered the person he’d been waiting for so long at the airport.

The two were lovers, deeply in love, but at the airport, they met and passed each other by without recognition. His heart raced with an inexplicable feeling, and his intuition told him she was significant to his life. Yet he couldn’t recall her name, her silhouette familiar like in his dreams.

Ran Zhihan saw Zhang Yichen and thought he looked like the shadow she’d often dreamt of, trying to reach him with her hand, only for the dream to shatter upon waking.

"Have we met somewhere?" Ran Zhihan couldn’t resist asking Zhang Yichen.

Zhang Yichen shared the same query and responded, "Really? You think so too? I felt we seem familiar upon seeing you, but can’t place where we met. Do you know?"

"I can’t recall either, regrettably. You just feel so familiar, similar to a shadow in my dreams. I admit I suffered a severe injury before, which erased many important memories. Hence, I truly don’t know if we’ve met," replied Ran Zhihan with a smile.

"We’re quite fated then. I also lost memories. I’m here for business in the U.S. Are you traveling abroad for fun?"

"I study here, and as graduation approaches, I plan to visit my parents and return later for further studies. To enter high society, a great education is necessary!"

The two shared idle chatter for over an hour before reluctantly parting, feeling an instant connection despite their amnesia.

"Xia Jing, you’ll never understand your son’s feelings. He sacrificed so much for you!"
