Zhang Zhentian asked in confusion, "Why can’t we use cell phones on airplanes?"

"Because airplanes fly at high altitudes along designated routes, and the entire flight is directed by ground aviation management personnel. In the air, pilots not only fly the plane but also communicate with the ground using the airplane’s communication and navigation equipment. The navigation equipment on the plane uses radio waves to determine its direction; by receiving electromagnetic waves constantly emitted by ground navigation stations, it can determine the plane’s precise location. If it detects that the plane has deviated from its course, the autopilot will automatically ’correct’ the error to ensure normal flight. When mobile phones are in use, they emit electromagnetic waves that interfere with the plane’s navigation equipment and control systems, causing the autopilot to receive incorrect information, make erroneous maneuvers, and potentially create dangerous situations. In severe cases, it could even lead to a plane crash," the flight attendant explained to Zhang Zhentian.

"My child, you might not have expected that as your father, I didn’t even know that you can’t use cell phones on airplanes. Isn’t that the simplest fact? You really don’t think I’m silly and naive? Every decision I’ve made, you’ve never regretted, only to find out that everything isn’t the outcome we truly want. "Even so, you all still chose to abandon us. Regardless of the decision you made deep down, you can’t change the choices you once made. I won’t forget everything you’re doing now, nor will I pretend I ever forgave you. You know how much I’ve given, and you stood by and watched me endure all this pain. I just want to know about everything you’ve gone through, whether it’s true or not. Even if you’re just saying it to appease me, I hope to know every ordeal my parents have endured."

Hearing the flight attendant’s explanation, Zhang Zhentian suddenly felt a bit embarrassed. He had originally planned to make an excuse to call, but now he felt too ashamed to try. He thought it was so embarrassing; among all the people on the plane, he was the only one asking the flight attendant why cell phones couldn’t be used.

The plane took off, and Old Master Zhang was still at home murmuring about why Xia Jing hadn’t called to say she arrived safely. It had been several days, and Old Master Zhang started feeling worried. Just as he was muttering, the phone rang, and Aunt Xu answered it.

"Hello, this is the Zhang Family. May I ask who you are looking for?"

Upon hearing Aunt Xu’s voice on the other end, the speaker said, "Aunt Xu, it’s Xia Jing. Is Uncle at home?"

Recognizing Xia Jing’s voice, Aunt Xu quickly replied, "Yes, yes, of course he is. The master is at home. He was just wondering why you hadn’t called to say you were safe. And now, your call has just come through. Hold on, I’ll go get the master for you."

Aunt Xu excitedly ran upstairs and gently knocked on the door of Elder Zhang’s Study. Hearing Old Master Zhang allow her in, she rushed in and said, "Master, Xia Jing is calling you."

"What?" Old Master Zhang asked Aunt Xu with delight, "I was just thinking of her, and now she’s calling! Aunt Xu, is the call disconnected?"

"No, Master, the call is still on. I asked Xia Jing to wait while I came up to get you," Aunt Xu answered with a smile to Old Master Zhang.

"Let’s go, go, go, why wait? Let’s hurry down to take the call," Old Master Zhang, like a little kid, hurriedly ran down to the living room, grabbed the phone, and asked, "Is that Xia Jing?"

"Yes, Uncle, it’s me. How have you been lately?" Xia Jing asked Old Master Zhang softly.
