Chapter 301 301: Seeing the Fireworks With Megumi
Chapter 301 301: Seeing the Fireworks With Megumi
"Tenya-kun, I know you're very honest, but sometimes I feel uneasy. I'm not sure if I can accept this kind of relationship. After all, I've always been a person with a very low sense of presence since childhood, used to not being noticed." Megumi sighed deeply, her fingers clenching into fists.
"Megumi, your presence has never been low to me. You are an indispensable part of my life, one of the people I trust and rely on the most. I know I might not be able to give you exclusive love, but I can guarantee that your place in my heart will never be replaced." Tenya squeezed her hand, his eyes filled with determination.
Megumi was silent for a moment, then gently nodded. "Tenya-kun, I believe you. It's just… sometimes I feel like I'm not good enough, not special enough, unable to attract your attention like other girls."
Tenya smiled, reaching out to gently caress her cheek. "Megumi, you don't need to compare yourself to others. Your gentleness, your wisdom, your calmness, are all unique. It is these qualities that deeply attract me to you. You don't need to change yourself, because you are already special enough."
A hint of a smile finally appeared on Megumi's face. She gently leaned on Tenya's shoulder, her voice soft. "Tenya-kun, thank you. It's really great to have met you."
Tenya gently embraced her, feeling her body warmth and scent, his heart filled with warmth and contentment.
He whispered, "Megumi, meeting you is also my greatest fortune."
The two quietly nestled together, the sound of rain outside the window gradually fading, as if accompanying their warm moment.
Tenya looked down at Megumi, his eyes full of tenderness. "Megumi, shall we move towards a beautiful future together?"
Megumi looked up, her gaze firm and gentle. "No matter if the future is beautiful or not, being able to walk together with Tenya-kun is already the greatest happiness."
The sound of rain outside the window gradually grew louder. The temperature inside the room was also gradually rising.
The next morning.
"Good morning, Tenya-kun. Breakfast is ready."
Megumi, wearing an apron, was busy in the kitchen.
"Waking up to see Megumi, what a fortunate day."
Tenya put on his clothes and washed up in the bathroom.
"Although I want to monopolize Tenya-kun, I guess tomorrow morning, Tenya-kun won't be seeing me, right?" Megumi rolled her eyes at him, annoyed.
However, to be fair, if he were truly devoted to her, she probably wouldn't be able to bear such exclusive love. After all, the physiological limits of the two were too different. As the saying goes, some die of drought while others drown, and it's just that unsolvable truth.
...
The morning sunlight streamed into the room through the gaps in the curtains.
Megumi stood in the kitchen, gently flipping a fried egg with her spatula.
The apron strings accentuated her slender waist, and her hair still had a hint of moisture, clearly indicating she had just showered.
Tenya walked out of the bathroom and, seeing this scene, couldn't help but hug her from behind, resting his chin on her shoulder. "Megumi, you're so wife like it's heartwarming."
"Tenya-kun, stop it, the fried egg is going to burn." Megumi's tone remained calm, but the tips of her ears quietly turned red.
She gently nudged him with her elbow and said, "Go set the table."
Tenya smiled, letting go of her, and obediently went to get the utensils.
Miso soup and grilled fish were already laid out on the dining table, their aroma filling the entire room.
He exclaimed, "If I could eat breakfast made by Megumi every day, my life would be complete."
"You should save these words to coax other girls."
Megumi served the fried egg onto a plate, her tone carrying a hint of teasing. "After all, tomorrow morning, you'll probably wake up at someone else's house."
Tenya's movements paused for a moment, then he showed a helpless smile. "Megumi, are you jealous?"
"Not jealous, just stating a fact."
Megumi sat down, put her hands together, and said, "I'm eating."
Tenya looked at her calm profile and suddenly felt that such a daily routine was incredibly comfortable.
He sat down opposite her, also put his hands together, and said, "I'm eating."
The two ate breakfast in silence, the birdsong outside the window and the rustling of leaves in the wind intertwining, creating an exceptionally peaceful atmosphere.
Tenya suddenly spoke, "By the way, Megumi, do you have any plans today?"
Megumi looked up, thought for a moment and said, "I originally planned to go to the library to study, but..."
She glanced at the bright sunlight outside the window. "Staying home on a day like this seems nice too."
"Then why don't we go out for a walk?" Tenya suggested, "Go for a stroll in a nearby park, or watch a movie?"
Megumi put down her chopsticks and tilted her head slightly. "Tenya-kun doesn't need to spend time with other girls today?"
"Today, I only want to be with you." Tenya's tone was uncharacteristically serious.
Megumi met his gaze for a few seconds, then gently nodded. "Okay, let's go watch a movie then."
...
Inside the cinema, the lights were dim.
Tenya and Megumi sat in the back row corner, a romance film playing on the screen. The plot was a bit cliché, but the atmosphere was very suitable for couples.
Tenya quietly took Megumi's hand, his fingertips gently caressing her palm.
Megumi didn't pull away, only whispered, "Tenya-kun, focus on the movie."
"The movie is not as beautiful as you." Tenya leaned close to her ear, his warm breath brushing against her earlobe.
Megumi's breathing paused slightly, but quickly returned to normal. "How many girls have you said lines like that to?"
"Right now, only to you." Tenya's expression didn't change.
"Only right now, huh." Megumi gently pinched the back of his hand, but didn't dwell on the topic.
After the movie ended, the two walked out of the cinema.
The lingering glow of the sunset spilled onto the street, stretching their shadows long.
"Where to next?" Megumi asked.
"Let's go for a walk by the river, I heard there's a fireworks display tonight." Tenya pointed to the distant riverbank.
Megumi nodded. "Okay."
...
Quite a few people had already gathered on the riverbank, with the hawkers' cries and children's laughter rising and falling.
Tenya bought two candied apples and handed one to Megumi. "Here, your favorite."
"Thank you."
Megumi took the candied apple and took a small bite, the sweet taste melting in her mouth.
"Megumi, look." Tenya suddenly pointed to the sky.
With a crisp sound, brilliant fireworks bloomed in the night sky, illuminating the entire river surface.
Megumi looked up, the colors of the fireworks reflected in her eyes, like countless stars.
"It's so beautiful." She murmured softly.
Tenya, however, wasn't looking at the fireworks, but gazing at her profile. "Yes, extremely beautiful."
Megumi noticed his gaze, turned her head, and their eyes met in the air.
The light of the fireworks flickered, illuminating their beautiful moment together.
"The fireworks display is about to end, we should head back." Megumi sighed.
"Alright, then I'll walk you home." Tenya said.
On the way home, the two walked side by side, neither speaking. It wasn't until they reached Megumi's doorstep that she stopped.
Megumi said, "Tenya-kun, thank you for today."
"Thank me for what?" Tenya raised an eyebrow.
"Thank you for spending such a wonderful day with me." Megumi's eyes held a gentle smile.
Tenya's heart warmed, and he reached out to ruffle her hair and said, "There will be many more days like this in the future."
Megumi nodded. "Mm, I look forward to it."
