Chapter 410: How Could She Be So Shameless
Chapter 410: How Could She Be So Shameless
...
Margaret found Jessie sitting in the corner of the living room, who was dressed in a long dress and looked haggard and pale.
It had only been a few days, and Jessie seemed to have lost a lot of weight.
Her cheeks were even slightly sunken. She didn’t look like herself.
Jessie felt Margaret’s gaze and raised her head. The moment her gaze met Margaret’s, she quickly lowered her head.
She looked as if she had been threatened and attacked and tried to hide in Sally’s arms and trembling.
Margaret realized there would be a big show.
Jessie wanted to achieve some goal by torturing herself!
Margaret turned to look at Sophie. "Thank you for your reminder. I will be a good audience."
No eating or talking.
Margaret tried to stay away from Jessie. She would not be lucky enough if she was Jessie’s target.
However, if Margaret refused to be the leading role in Jessie’s play, Jessie’s acting would be meaningless.
Even if Margaret tried to keep away from trouble, Jessie would not let her go.
Sophie smiled. There was not much concern in her smile.
Although Marcos was not the one to inherit the family business, Sophie had no reason to please Margaret.
Even if Sophie didn’t stir up trouble, the Jorgansen’s was still a place of conflicts.
"You are such a simple girl. But as an honored guest, it would be a pity if you were only an audience in such a good venue."
Sophie’s meaningful smile gradually widened.
Margaret frowned, shook off Sophie’s hand, and gave an innocent smile in return.
"It doesn’t matter. If someone wants to hurt me with cold words at the beginning of the show, she won’t make it."
Margaret did not fear anyone in the Jorgansen family.
The smile on Sophie’s face froze and disappeared.
Sophie sneered and snorted coldly. Then she left.
Margaret solemnly adjusted her clothes, straightened her back, and put on a
dignified and noble smile.
Without raising her eyes, Margaret said to Julian, "It’s time for us to go on. Don’t hamper my performance later."
Julian glanced at her and took a step forward, pulling Margaret into his arms.
He lowered his head to whisper into her ear, "I look forward to your performance."
Margaret whispered arrogantly, "Just wait and see!"
She would not allow Jessie to look down on her.
When the Jorgansens members saw Margaret come over, they all looked at her.
Margaret glanced around and found that Marry was not there.
Her life on the mountain was happy and free. And she was accompanied by someone in love with her.
Who would choose to live in the mess of the Jorgansen family instead of living in peace?
It was probably because the Jorgansens were supporting her current life that she had yet to shed all pretenses with them.
Margaret walked forward and greeted the other family members.
"Are you feeling better? Young people always recover more quickly. I thought you would be resting at home for a few more days. But I heard that you are at work these days. Don’t work too hard."
Alice pulled Margaret over and asked her to sit down.
Margaret immediately stood up from the sofa, looked around, and met everyone’s surprised gaze. She smiled.
"Sophie and the others haven’t taken their seats. I’d better stand for a while."
"I know you have your family rules." Margaret thought.
If she sat down, others were going to say that she was ill-bred.
Margaret swept her gaze over the people sitting there. Some were her aunts, who must be gossiping. And the men all sat together.
"Look at you. What a well-bred girl from a great family! Some other girls from some unknown place will only cause trouble to our family."
Alice said, rolling her eyes at Jessie who was not far away.
Jessie shrank back and hid behind Sally, looking extremely scared.
Seeing the girl raised by her being ridiculed, Sally was unhappy.
Her eyes turned cold and she said angrily, "Alice, watch your words. Jessie is one of the Jorgansens. She’s not from some unknown place."
"Do you really think that after living with the Jorgansens for a few years, she is no longer the girl with low birth?
"She isn’t your biological daughter after all. I should warn you that someday she might betray you."
In Margaret’s opinion, Alice’s words were simply a provocation.
Sally was obviously angry. She looked as if she would pounce on Alice and tear up her face the next moment.
Margaret pursed her lips. It was better for her to stay away from these women.
However, just as she was about to leave, she was blocked by someone.
Sophie pushed her back.
Sophie smiled warmly and said, "Sally, Alice, you almost scared Margaret. Julian won’t be happy to see it."
Was Sophie trying to arouse their hatred of Julian?
Margaret glanced at Sophie, who was smiling calmly beside her.
The more beautiful a woman was, the more vicious her heart was!
Marcos and Sophie ... were absolutely a perfect match.
"Sophie, you must be joking. It doesn’t matter if Julian and I are happy or not. As long as everyone else is happy, it is fine."
Margaret’s words caused Sophie to be embarrassed and a little unhappy.
Sophie thought, "Margaret is not as innocent and harmless as she looks."
The trouble Sophie had stirred up was solved with Margaret’s single sentence.
With a sneer, Sophie looked at Jessie in the corner. "That’s true. But Julian dotes on you so much. If someone bullies you, Julian will personally go and take revenge for you.
"However, Julian was too hard on Jessie. Jessie is still young and immature. She grew up in our family. Julian should not favor you more than Jessie.
"Margaret, you are beautiful and kind. You should speak up for Jessie."
Sophie said in a roundabout way.
Although Margaret was a little confused, she finally understood something.
She was right.
Just as she expected, even if Margaret wanted to stay away from these women, they would come over themselves.
Margaret turned to look at Jessie.
"Now, it’s time for the leading role to act." Margaret thought.
As expected, when Jessie’s gaze met Margaret’s, Jessie’s eyes turned red, and her tears fell.
She seemed to have been greatly wronged.
Before Margaret could react, Jessie fell at Margaret’s feet in an instant.
She grabbed Margaret’s dress and cried.
"I am wrong. Margaret, please forgive me. Don’t let Julian send me abroad. I want to be with my mother. I will be good and won’t make you angry anymore."
Margaret thought, "Jessie must hate me to death!"
...
Margaret looked indifferently at Jessie’s performance and others’ expressions.
Most of them looked like audiences who were expecting something to happen, or they would feel dissatisfied.
"Jessie, what are you doing? Let’s talk things out. Margaret is a reasonable person. If you’re in trouble, she will definitely help."
Sophie seemed surprised and tried to pull Jessie up.
However, Jessie broke free from her grasp and didn’t get up.
Sophie frowned awkwardly. "We are family. Sally will feel distressed."
Sally, standing on one side with red eyes, looked at Jessie on the ground. Sally looked reluctant and sad, which made people feel sorry.
Margaret felt Jessie’s arms holding her calf tightly as if to firmly lock her in place.
She couldn’t move even if she wanted to, let alone shake Jessie off.
Jessie was determined to stick to her like a leech.
"Jessie, what are you doing? I can go with you."
Sally clenched her teeth as if she had made a major decision.
She had no children and no one to rely on, so it was better for her to follow Jessie.
Although she and Jessie were not biologically related, they had supported and taken care of each other for so many years. She believed that she could enjoy her later life with Jessie.
Sophie heard Sally’s words and looked at Margaret with an anxious face.
"Margaret, say something. We are all family. Jessie is still young and immature. Why don’t you forgive her mistake?"
"Margaret, you are always sensible. Keep Jessie at home to take care of Sally."
Margaret clearly understood what they were up to, or the novels she had read in the past few years would be in vain.
She raised her eyebrows and crouched down in front of Jessie.
Her eyes turned red for some reason. She looked at Jessie and said in a sad tone, "Jessie, don’t be upset. I really don’t know that you’re leaving home. Please don’t blame it on me."
Margaret blinked and seemed more aggrieved than Jessie.
"I know Julian felt sorry for you and offered to send you abroad. No one would be willing to see the one who killed his or her kid again.
"If you get hurt today, what should Sally do? Will Sally forgive the murderer?" Margaret’s words got everyone silent.
Margaret raised her head to look at Sally, who looked anxious. Then she blinked at Sally.
"You are so generous to have raised Jessie for so long. She is nice and kind. I am a little willful. But I know you won’t argue with me.
"I have never suffered any grievances since birth. Now that I married into the Jorgansens, I take everyone here as my family and respect all of you."
And so?
Margaret’s words implied that anyone who spoke up for Jessie today did not treat her as a family member.
Instantly, everyone in the room fell silent.
Sally had prepared a lot of excuses, but now she couldn’t say a word.
Jessie also stared at Margaret in disbelief.
How could she...be so shameless?
"Margaret, isn’t this a bit too much? Although you lost a child, you can’t blame it all on Jessie, right?
"Maybe it was a coincidence. This child belongs to the Jorgansen family, so we all feel distressed. But Jessie is innocent.
"Julian should not have favored you. We are a family. Why do you have to make things difficult for Jessie?"
Sophie pretended to be nonchalant, but sighed and said a lot.
The Jorgansens members continued to watch the show.
They heard that Margaret was willful and unruly, and they all suspected that she lied about the baby.
But now, they believed that Margaret did lose her baby and just blamed her miscarriage on Jessie.
She was trying to put them in their place.
"Margaret just married into the family, and now she wants to show off with her family background. We can’t put up with it." The Jorgansens thought.
Margaret frowned.
She saw Sophie’s gloating smile and thought, "Since you are heartless, don’t blame me for being cruel to you."
Margaret sniffed and said in a hoarse voice with red eyes, "Sophie, you misunderstood me. I am blaming myself not Jessie.
"It was my own fault for not being able to protect the baby. Julian was worried about me and feared that I would be sad when I saw Jessie again. So, he came up with such a stupid idea.
"I know you have never been pregnant, so you won’t know the pain of losing a baby.
But I think the other family members will understand me.
"It’s not that I don’t like Jessie. But every time I see Jessie, I would think of my unborn child. The baby would still be in my belly if it were not for Jessie. It’s all my fault."
Margaret said as tears welled up in her eyes.
She looked so pitiful.
Wasn’t it just a competition in the level of misery? Whoever was more miserable would win. Whoever cried more loudly would have the final say.
"Margaret, you..."
Not having a child was the weakness of Sophie.
It was impossible for her to have a child. She could only swallow this idea and then let people laugh behind her back.
Marcos was infertile, and there were many people laughing at him.
Sophie knew it clearly, but no one had ever said this in front of her.
But Margaret did.
"Margaret, it’s my fault. Sophie spoke up for me because she felt sorry for me. I know that I made you unhappy. I am willing to leave, but..."
Jessie spoke with tears in her eyes, and her body trembled with the grievance as if she had suffered unspeakable unkindness.
But Margaret only wanted to curse when she heard this.
Jessie desired that at least she would not have to leave the family. She pretended to be weak and pitiful.
"Mom raised me with great efforts. She has lived here for half her life. I don’t deserve to be a member of the Jorgansens, but my mother does. She contributed a lot to the family.
"I only hope that Margaret can help me take care of my mother after I leave. I have been a drag on my mother for so long."
Just as Jessie finished speaking, Sally and Jessie cried on each other’s shoulders.
The crying was so loud that the people around them, even Julian and Brittany were also attracted.
Seeing this, Margaret fell to the ground, her eyes red with pain. She was about to cry.
Everyone could tell that she was not a good actress.
