Chapter 386: The Happiest Life That She Has Ever Experienced
Chapter 386: The Happiest Life That She Has Ever Experienced
It was rare for them to sit together for dinner, so Halle cooked two more dishes.
Although Horton had said in advance that he would come back early, she did not expect that he would come back so early.
"Sorry, I made you worry today."
During the meal, Halle could not help but speak.
Today, she suddenly called the emergency call. Although Horton did not say anything about Titus, he must be worried.
She thought that she could solve it on her own, but in the end, she still caused trouble for him.
"You indeed made me worry."
Horton said calmly with a serious expression.
"My wife is so good. And so many people like you, how can I not worry?"
Halle listened to him and was startled for a while. Then she blushed.
"You ... What are you talking about?"
Did she hear clearly? She had thought that Horton would blame her or be angry with her for concern.
She was also afraid that Horton would misunderstand that she was still in contact with Titus, so she had always been nervous.
She had been ready for his scolding.
Unexpectedly, it didn’t happen.
"Aren’t you angry with me?"
Halle asked uncertainly with uneasiness on her face.
Suddenly, her hands were held by the man under the table.
Her face gradually turned red. She lowered her head and reminded him in a low voice, "Emily is still here."
"She cannot see."
They chatted as if the person sitting opposite them was not their daughter but a ball of air.
Emily tried her best to eat the dishes.
Horton came back too late today. So, she was really hungry.
However, Emily heard her parents’ words and said curiously, "Mom, I heard it."
A trace of embarrassment flashed across Halle’s face. She quickly pulled her hand out of his palm.
With a guilty conscience, she picked up a chicken wing and placed it on Emily’s plate.
"Emily, eat more, so you can grow stronger."
"Mom, boys have to be strong. I have to grow more and more beautiful instead. Then Dad will like me more and accompany me for dinner every day."
After saying that, Emily looked at Horton and said, "Dad, all the children in our class went to the aquarium and amusement park with their parents. They played cool little trains and fed the little dolphins. I also want to go."
Halle quickly said, "I can go with you some other day."
"But the other children are all going with mom and dad."
Halle could say nothing.
"Okay. How’s the weekend? The weather should be good," Horton said.
His words surprised Halle. She turned to him, "Your work in the hospital..."
"Halle, doctors also need a holiday."
Halle came to her senses and nodded with a smile.
"That’s great! I will go to the aquarium and amusement park with Dad and Mom!"
Emily jumped down from the chair and ran happily into the room.
She even pulled out her small suitcase excitedly and began to prepare the things she had to bring that day.
Emily was so lively. Halle was happy to see that.
To her, simple happiness was the best.
She turned to Horton and said hesitantly, "Is it really possible? Won’t it delay your work? Those patients..."
"Halle, not all the patients are in a hurry to see me for surgery."
Horton looked at her seriously.
He sat quietly beside her. In Halle’s eyes, he seemed to be glowing.
His temperature made her feel like she was dreaming.
She felt so happy and wanted to cherish the days.
She saw the seriousness, the affection, as well as herself in Horton’s eyes.
Halle was moved and laughed.
Horton did not ask her about the details of Titus, and Halle was grateful for his trust.
On Sunday, Horton took her and Emily to the amusement park.
"Dad, look at the Ferris wheel and the spacecraft."
Emily sat on Horton’s shoulder so she could see everything clearly though there were many people around.
The air was filled with the sweet taste and the pleasant screams.
"Dad, I want to play the merry-go-round!"
Emily shouted and was eager to try.
As soon as she was put down, she ran into the crowd.
Halle subconsciously chased after her but was pulled back by Horton, "I will go. Take care of yourself."
Horton swept over her belly with concern.
Halle nodded, "Alright."
Emily and Horton were sitting on the merry -go-round. Emily was protected in Horton’s arms, like a princess protected by a knight. She was smiling happily.
Halle also smiled.
They played in the amusement park until the evening. Halle was pregnant and felt tired.
But when she thought of that, Emily was so happy. She didn’t feel it that difficult.
On the way home, Emily fell asleep in Halle’s arms. A little angel hairpin was on her head, and a velvet toy was hugged by her. Horton had shot it for her.
On the bustling streets, colorful rainbow-colored lights were hitting the cars.
The scenery outside was gorgeous. Halle leaned against the window and also fell asleep.
By the time she woke up, she was already in the parking lot of the community.
Halle hurriedly got out of the car and saw Horton holding Emily in his arms.
On Emily’s bed, there were all kinds of cute furry toys. The curtains with the little pink rabbit made the room lively.
When Emily was placed on the bed, she opened her eyes and hugged Halle.
Halle let out a slight sigh of relief and gave Horton a look.
He left the room. The moment he closed the door, the tenderness in his eyes disappeared. He walked out.
In the community, there was a hawthorn tree and green grassland.
Behind the hawthorn tree, on a quiet small road, a black car was parked.
The car looked expensive. When Horton walked over, Chris quickly opened the back door.
He said respectfully, "Mr. Horton, Mr. Claus has been waiting for you for a day." Horton was indifferent and sneered slightly.
Chris was hesitated to say something. Horton retracted his gaze and sat in the car...
...
It was drizzling at night outside, and the window was blurred soon.
There’s a figure reflected in the window. Halle sat quietly on the sofa, watching the rain drops falling down on the window.
The rains in the summer brought fresh air, driving away from the heat of the day.
Emily had drifted off in her room. It had been a long time since the last time she saw Emily, so happy like today. For the first time, Halle understood that the amusement park could provide something more than entertainment.
Different from the rough violent rainstorm, the drizzle was gentle, like the care from families.
Halle just sat there, feeling colder and colder with the air conditioner was on.
She held tight the cup and looked at the clock on the wall from time to time. Finally, she heard the sound from the door and turned in the direction.
She immediately stood up when she saw the man with who she was familiar.
She was so nervous that her gorgeous red lips were pressed into a line. She stared at the man with her beautiful almond eyes.
When Horton looked back at her, Halle suddenly was aware of something and gave a mysterious smile.
"You’re back. Did you go to the supermarket?" Halle looked at the shopping bag in Horton’s hand.
Without seeing what was inside, she hurried forward to take the bag and walked towards the kitchen.
Horton grabbed her arm. As Halle was confused, he slowly said, "They are daily necessities. We need to put them in the bathroom!"
Only then did Halle understand, and awkwardness registered on her face. "Sorry." She was about to go to the bathroom, but Horton didn’t let her go. "Halle, are you waiting for me? Are you afraid that I won’t come back?"
Halle straightened her back and looked at Horton with her lips pursed. "It’s just ... it’s so late, and you’re alone ... I don’t mean to pry. I am just worried ..."
What was there to worry about?
She was afraid that Horton would ask her this question.
She stopped talking.
She covered the hem of her clothes with her hands.
"Halle!"
Horton was so close that she could hear his breath above her head.
Then he held both of her hands tightly.
"We are married. You don’t have to be so careful. We cannot live together being like this."
"Horton, I’m sorry..."
She was too careful. When Horton came back, she heard what he said on the phone in the car. So, she knew who was waiting for him downstairs.
Perhaps, she could pretend to be strong and care about nothing in front of others.
But she couldn’t do it before Horton!
"Why are you sorry? I don’t want you to apologize."
"Halle, you are my wife. You have the right to ask about me, even everything about me."
Halle looked at Horton and opened her mouth slightly.
She slowly said, "Is it your father?"
Horton nodded!
Halle’s face turned pale immediately. Apparently, she was upset.
"Does he insist on separating us?"
Halle said as she covered her stomach with both her hands. With the red -rimmed eyes, she was anxious to ask, "We have two children. We are doing very well. Is he still worried about you? I know it is because of me, but we are married!"
She could not divorce, absolutely not!
Halle held his hands tightly. She had rejected him in the very beginning, but it was him that insisted. Now that she had married him, she did not want to give him up.
"Halle, calm down!"
Horton grabbed Halle’s hands more tightly. Looking at her like this, he felt sorry but moved.
He wanted to comfort her, but at the same time, he also wanted to see her caring about him.
He didn’t want her being indifferent to him like before.
Nor did he want her to be so polite to him as if he was not a family.
Horton felt insecure with that.
At the moment, the woman who was nervous and upset, just like a kid wronged by
his parents, was the real Halle he knew!
He liked to see her being anxious about him, and he liked everything about her.
"Just tell me, what should I do to let your father agree?"
"I know that it is important for you to inherit the business of the Hutts. I know that he did not give you up. He wanted you to go back."
"I can understand him as a father, but Horton, I can’t give up on you!"
She thought, "Our children can’t either!"
Halle grabbed Horton’s wrist. She had been telling herself to be calm when she was sitting in the living room just now.
She knew that she shouldn’t be like this. Horton was not her personal property. He had the right to choose.
She told herself not to force him to do anything, but she was still worried.
Perhaps it was because of the pregnancy that made her sensitive, or because she had been used to the marriage life and deep in love with Horton.
They led a happy life!
It was the happiest one that Halle had ever experienced.
Sometimes they were too polite to each other, more like teenage lovers than a couple.
But Halle knew it was because Horton cared too much about her. He was afraid of losing her, so he was upset.
Halle kept fiddling with the hem of her clothes. She didn’t want Horton to be aware of her nervousness, but she couldn’t control herself.
"Halle, listen to me."
Horton looked at Halle and burst into laughter. He gently held her into his arms.
"I would never leave. We are family, and no one can separate us."
"Then..."
Halle opened her mouth and saw a hint of concern on Horton’s face. She could feel he was hesitant.
"It’s your dad..."
"He is sick. He just wants to see me. He said he wanted one thing from you!"
Horton spoke unhurriedly, and his voice slowly entered Halle’s ears.
Halle looked at him seriously and nervously, holding his collar tightly.
"He wants to see you and Emily."
The elders really didn’t dare to apologize to them.
Horton put it very clear, but Halle was stunned. It seemed that she didn’t believe what she heard.
"Didn’t he want to take you away from me? Did he really say that he wanted to see me?"
Halle surely felt panicked because it was Claus who wanted to see her.
She did not know what he wanted to say, but at least Horton said that he did not mean to separate them.
"It doesn’t matter if you don’t want to see him."
"Yes, I do!"
Halle gave a smile, with her hands holding Horton tightly.
She said, "He is your father. So, he is also family for Emily and me. I want to see him, but ... no matter what he says, I will not leave you."
