Chapter 381: A Man Who Doesn’t Return Home at Night
Chapter 381: A Man Who Doesn’t Return Home at Night
In the corridor of the hospital.
Halle held the food box in her hand tightly. Although her face was expressionless, revealing no emotions, psychologically she was a mess.
Standing at the door of the Director’s office, Halle put on a slight smile and knocked on the door.
"Come in!"
After getting permission from inside, Halle turned the door and saw Horton who was still immersed in work. She smiled and said, "Lunch break. Doesn’t Dr. Hutt want to eat with me?"
Halle stood at the door, elegant and gentle.
She wore a light green dress, which gave her an air of grace.
Her eyes met Horton’s gaze, full of affection.
Horton sitting at the table was obviously a little surprised. He stood up and walked towards Halle.
The moment the door closed, Halle was held in his arms. Horton whispered in her ear, "Why are you so late? I’ve been waiting for you for a long time."
They had just seen each other in the morning and but he started to miss her since they parted.
Halle smiled and said, "Watch your words and behaviors. Don’t you know you are a composed and serious doctor?"
"Of course, I am professional in work."
The man suddenly picked Halle up and put her on the table.
Halle grabbed the collar of his white coat. Before she said anything, her lips were sealed by his.
Although he was always gentle and calm, Horton’s kiss was wild and aggressive.
It seemed that Halle was prey and he was the hunter.
Halle responded to his kiss, her hand grabbing him by the collar. She felt his strong desire for her and whispered, "The lunch will get cold."
She sat on a cold and hard table, a little high so her feet were unable to touch the ground.
Halle glanced at the door and whispered with a red face, "It’s not good to be seen."
They were at an office and this was a hospital, a sacred place.
The man leaned forward and pecked her lips gently, speaking, "Eat with me."
Halle looked up at his eyes under the glasses. They were dark, full of deep affection.
His eyes were beautiful.
Halle smiled and nodded. She carefully got off the table and opened the food box.
"I remember that the food in your hospital is tolerable. Why don’t you go to the canteen?"
Halle asked unconsciously.
Horton looked at her, his fingertips brushing across her chin and tilting her head. "Because I want to see you,"
He spoke extremely seriously. They were so close that Halle could see herself in his eyes.
Halle smiled gently. She bowed her head and placed the dishes well.
"We are married. We meet every day and just parted this morning. It’s only a few hours."
Horton had not asked anything for her since they got married.
However, after returning from Japan, Horton seemed to have changed a little.
Sometimes, he would make some requirements.
Although they were childish and somewhat unreasonable, Halle was happy to see this change.
She knew once one loved a person, she would accept his all requirements because she wanted him to be happy.
"I don’t want to be separated from you every minute."
Horton hugged her waist and brought Halle back into his arms. He kissed her lips again with a hint of tenderness and attachment.
Halle smiled and pulled him to sit at the table. She looked at Horton and said, "Enjoy your meal!"
"You’re not eating?"
Halle shook her head, a sweet smile on her face. "I’ll just watch you eat."
Recently, her appetite was very bad because of pregnancy. She would often throw up when she ate and even couldn’t eat at all.
Halle didn’t want him to see her in such a state. She sometimes felt nauseous when she smelled the food.
Horton’s hand stopped and frowned, a little reluctant.
"Why aren’t you eating?" Halle urged, "You don’t like it? Then what do you want to eat tonight? I will make it for you."
"I don’t want to eat if you don’t."
Horton said lightly, picking up a piece of vegetable and handing it to her.
Halle glanced at it and ate it with a smile.
"I have eaten with my workmates in the studio. I really can’t eat any more now."
Halle explained in a low voice, "It’s easy to fall asleep if eating too much."
Horton pulled her hand over and placed his palm on her abdomen. Halle felt a hint of warmth from his palm.
"Is it because of him?"
Although she could not feel the little fellow in her belly, she believed that he was happy.
Halle shook her head and rested her head on Horton’s shoulder.
She said happily, "No. He behaves well. Even if he makes me uncomfortable now, I am very happy. It is not easy to be a mother."
Although she had to suffer a lot physically, she felt the special happiness of being a mother.
One should do appropriate things at a suitable age so that he could taste different happiness brought by every change.
If she lived, in the same way, every day, life would be meaningless.
"I hope he can stay in my stomach for a few more days. When I was pregnant with Emily, I always wanted her to be born soon."
"But when she was born, I knew that I had to bear more responsibilities for her."
"I was afraid that she would be unhappy, be hurt. I wanted to protect her, but at the same time I wanted to give her enough freedom."
"I used to be afraid that Emily would be upset when she saw other children with their own father, so I rarely took her to the streets and never took her to the amusement park. I was afraid that she would be asked about her father when she was at school."
Halle felt a little painful and pursed her lips, "I’m very afraid that she feels unhappy." She was more afraid that she could not give her daughter the life she wanted. The future was unknown, so she didn’t know how to choose each step. "Fortunately, I made the correct choice in the end." Halle smiled, her eyes bright and soft.
She leaned forward and kissed Horton lightly. A smile spread on her face. "Thank you. Thank you for not giving up on me for such a long time!"
So she had the opportunity to be happy now.
...
When Halle came out of the hospital, it was almost at the end of school hours.
She stayed with Horton in his office and did nothing, but time flew.
She had to go to the kindergarten to pick up Emily. Before that, she called Hilla and was informed that Stella had gone to the kindergarten. She breathed a sigh of relief.
Standing by the roadside, Halle smiled as she received the message from Horton.
Just as she was about to call for a taxi, a black Audi stopped in front of her. The driver rolled down the window of the passenger seat and smiled at her.
"Do you want to call for a taxi? It is my pleasure to serve you."
It was Simone. Halle was slightly startled when she saw him. She replied with an apologetic expression, "Thank you, Mr. Moran. I can take a taxi myself. Are you working nearby?"
Simone, as the heir of the Epkar Group, was very outstanding. Bruce had once asked him to have a blind date with her. Back then, Simone had indeed helped her a lot.
If not for Simone, she and Horton might not have gotten married so quickly.
Halle had thought that she would not meet Simone again, but now it seemed to be so coincident.
Simone opened the door of the passenger seat and said, "Get on first. We can’t stop here."
Halle glanced at the cars behind and got in hesitantly.
Sitting beside Simone, Halle felt a little awkward. And then she saw Simone looking at her with a smile.
"What’s wrong?"
Halle looked nervous and uneasy. They had only met twice and were not that familiar.
Simone reminded her, "Safety belt."
Halle finally reacted and lowered her head in embarrassment to buckle her seatbelt.
"I didn’t expect to meet you at the entrance of the hospital. Are you coming here to visit Mr. Hutt?"
Simone drove the car and naturally chatted with Halle. Halle smiled in embarrassment and nodded, "Mr. Moran, do you have a project in the hospital?"
"No. A friend of mine is sick so I pay a visit to him. I thought I was mistaken when I met you."
Simone was gentle and polite, and his aura was similar to Horton to some extent.
He was also wearing simple gold-rimmed glasses and always smiled.
It was hard to see him through and find hostility on him.
When chatting with him, Halle showed a polite smile.
"I’ve always wanted to thank you," Simone said.
Halle looked at him in confusion.
Simone explained with a smile, "Without you, how could I be taken care of by Mr. Anderson and take on such a large project of the Anderson Group?"
He did not hide his joy. He was calm and seemed to be indifferent in the face of those utilitarian gains.
"You are indeed my benefactor. If you are not married to Mr. Hutt, I think I will pursue you."
Halle did not expect Simone to change his topic like this.
She originally was calm but suddenly became a little flustered.
"Don’t be nervous. I was just joking with you. Fate can’t be forced. I will do that if I meet you earlier."
"You must be joking. I’m sorry that you were involved in the last incident." Halle clenched the bag in her hand, lowered her head, and put on a faint smile. The smile showed a bit of apology and alienation.
At that time, she only wanted to stimulate Horton to marry her, so she asked Bruce for help.
It was easy to pretend to have a blind date with a man. But it was difficult to find someone who could match up to Horton.
Simone was an overseas returnee and had a unique advantage.
Halle felt that Simone was very suitable for the role. She had never thought that they would meet again.
Moreover, Bruce had returned the favor.
Simone wanted the help of the Anderson family so he chose to do as Bruce asked and helped Halle.
Simone felt that this deal was cost-effective. He didn’t need to pay much but got a big project from the Anderson Group.
But after seeing Halle twice, he felt that she was gentle and somewhat suited to him.
However, it was just a thought. After all, he was not interested in seducing a married woman, not to mention that she was Bruce’s relative.
He still needed the help of the Anderson Group in the future, so he would not offend Bruce.
"It doesn’t matter. Does what I said scare you? Don’t take it seriously. I just want to be an ordinary friend of yours. After all, the Epkar Group has a business about medical instruments. We may make contact with Mr. Hutt in the future."
The car stopped outside the studio. Simone stretched out to help Halle get off. He looked at Halle. His gentle eyes were filled with warmth and friendliness.
Halle was stunned. She unfastened the seat belt and smiled slightly, "Mr. Moran, thank you for sending me back."
She ignored Simone’s hand, got off the car, and left.
Simone wasn’t surprised at her indifference. Seeing her elegant figure, he put on a slight smile.
In the Jorgansen’s in Far City.
It went dark gradually. The villa was illuminated by the sunset.
"Mrs. Jorgansen, there are too many mosquitoes. Why don’t we return to the house to wait for Mrs. Jorgansen?"
The maid beat the mosquitoes around her legs and looked pitifully at Margaret who was sitting on the swing and refused to leave.
She complained silently in her heart, It was summer now, and it was the time for mosquitoes to run rampant. If stayed outside, we were just feeding ourselves to mosquitoes! In less than two hours, our legs had been covered by little swellings.> Even so, Margaret didn’t move. She frowned and said, "Spray more mosquito-repellent liquid. If it doesn’t work, ignite two more mosquito-repellent incenses." "Mrs. Jorgansen, I have used a box of mosquito-repellent incense. The liquid was even used up. The mosquitos are so much. If we continue to stay outside, our legs will swell and look like sausages. "Mr. Jorgansen is attending a cocktail party. He won’t come back early tonight. You better have dinner first and wait in the house." The little maid said earnestly. She did not understand why Margaret waited outside. Moreover, it was also hot. Her clothes were drenched and she just wanted to back into the house. "It’s still early for dinner, and I’m not hungry. Mosquito likes to bite young girls like you." Margaret glanced at the red swellings on her legs, shook her head, and thought, "The mosquitoes only want to bully young girls, the same as Julian, a bastard who didn’t return home at night!"
